Week #18 - Games of Interest
This is the last week of CBB's regular season and the last in this weekly games of interest threads. Going forward this topic will be reflected in threads highlighting conference tournament play and a special focus on the A-10 tournament at Barclay's.
In the AP poll, Dayton moves up to #3 and Maryland retains the #9 position. With two losses in the week, West Virginia drops out of top 25. In the others category, the Mountaineers get 22 votes, Providence gets 17, and LSU gets 2.
In the USA Today/Coaches poll, Dayton moves to #3 position, Maryland drops one position to #9, and West Virginia falls out of Top 25. In the others category, West Virginia gets 27 votes, LSU gets 4 votes. and PC gets 3 votes.
Kansas retains #1 team position in the both AP poll and the Coaches' poll.
The cumulative record of URI OOC opponents is 200-146, 0.570, a big drop from the previous week.
With the unimpressive road win at Fordham and the home loss to Saint Louis, all the key URI metrics took a big hit from previous week:
NET - 51, down 14
BPI - 66, down 14
Pomeroy - 55 down 11
Sagarin - 70 down 17
On Monday there are no games in A-10 and none involving URI OOC opponents.

NC State had a 46-44 lead early in the 2nd half...don't remember the time, but I would guess around 16 mins left(?). From there, Duke killed them - 44-23.

Nice to Richmond isn’t the only team to not get a Davidson travel called in a game. Two obvious missed travels.

Just saw that whoever does the bracket projections for CBS has Richmond as last four in as of now. Wow. Didn't realize that.
As much as I hate to say it, watch out for UConn. Forget NIT for now, they are starting to peak and playing well. Could easily make an AAC run.
Why can't we get coaching like that?

The University of Connecticut has absolutely no business storming the court against the University of Houston at home.NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑4 years ago Court storm alert:

Houston is ranked 21st and nowhere near court storm worthy.

Pretty sure this is part of the Storm Chasers’ schtick and it makes sense to go to Storrs right after being in Kingston last night. Lighten up. Unless them getting walked into in cuffs was part of their plan, they are no longer at the game.

You said you thought UCONN had no business storming the court if they beat Houston.
My response to you had zero to do with the handcuffs. I see zero reference to that in either of our posts.

If those two were still at the game, by all means storm. Since they got kicked out, the students had no business storming the court.

You’ve ridiculed student athletes time and time again here, and that’s mostly why I disagree with you. I care a lot about this program and will for the rest of my lifetime. The team, staff, families, etc. read this board. And don’t bring up Blue Man’s posts again to defend your posts. We know him.
Since you’re completely anonymous (for the most part?) you’re lucky they don’t know who you are. From what I gather berating student athletes is not what YOU should be doing, I digress.

Just think - if we'd have invested in this PROGRAM (not just Hurley) properly in 2017 after our first NCAA appearance in 2 decades (practice facility, charter flights, assistant coaches pool) - he doesn't go to UConn, Obi Toppin comes here, we go to the Final Four this year.
Instead, we magically found those promises and funds a year too late. As we tend to do.
Instead, MEDIOCRITY! YAY!

Hey Wyoming just went into the MTN west tournament 7-23 2-16 and proceeded to beat 20 win Colorado State and then 19 win Nevada last night to match their conference win total of the season, to find themselves two wins away from the NCAA tournament.

He played 38 minutes in each of the 2 tournament wins scoring the ball well
Such we would put a freshman or two in the starting line up

Drake records a first in MVC tournament history as the 8th seed beats Northern Iowa, the first seed resoundingly, 77-56. As the announcers said Drake played with energy. Energy is exactly the quality URI has not shown for weeks.

Obie, sad but true.
We come out for the start of games lately like we've already lost.
That's not fatigue.....their heads aren't right, and the coaching staff looks clueless to do anything about it.

Richmond passes the ball so precisely and unselfishly. All 5 guys pass. Cayo looks good down low.
They could give Dayton a test of both get to the A10 Championship.
