Sad story of one of most talented visiting players to play at the Ryan Center

Really sad sad story. From what I can tell it was rumored in his past that he had bipolar disorder, and he also had a history with guns and drugs. Not a good recipe.

Liked Pat Skerry, he was a good guy and helped keep Baron above water in my opinion.

He was the only reason we had a functional team on the court.
Baron would confuse players in practice, players would go to Pat, Pat would set them straight.

Yeah its a weird one. Just watching the clip, if nobody had said anything about biting, it would have never even entered my mind. We're going to need some forensic testing on the guys leg.

Saw this last night. Has Jarreau said anything? If you're him, don't you have to say. "No, I didn't, or yeah, I'm sorry for losing my mind (or something like that)" ? I mean, you hafta say 'something', don't you? ETA: Maybe he chooses now to keep his mouth shut?

Just put him in off the bench in the Dayton game. Be cool, don’t make it a thing, see if anyone notices...

I may sound crazy saying this, but if by some miracle he could suit up for us this year we could go to the final 4.
I've watched him recently and he is reaaaaaly good now. He would physically humble everyone in college.

I would hope he could "phiysically humble" college age players- he's a 25 year old professionalPeterRamTime wrote: ↑4 years agoI may sound crazy saying this, but if by some miracle he could suit up for us this year we could go to the final 4.

We may have if he wasn't hurt during the second round game vs. Oregon. We may have still beaten them anyway if it weren't for that atrocious offensive foul called on EC Matthews. Almost as bad as the non call vs. Mobley in 1998. Imagine if those two calls were reversed?PeterRamTime wrote: ↑4 years agoI may sound crazy saying this, but if by some miracle he could suit up for us this year we could go to the final 4.

Re: Where Are They Now? Former Player Results and News
It's absolutely crazy how productive Hassan was despite being undersized. He was likely 3 inches away from being a lottery pick. Jacob already has some inches on him and is still growing. I'm so excited about his potential once he bulks up a bit (and maybe grows an inch or two).
Next year is the first year we've gone into the season with some question marks at the 5 in a longggg time. I'm not saying it's a major hole since we have so much depth at the 4, but we need to identify a junkyard dog that can defend and rebound. We've had that luxury since Hassan was a Sophomore.

Re: Where Are They Now? Former Player Results and News
So I’m bored and just did a quick check in on our former players. By my count 18 former Rams are still playing;
Jared Terrell - Ukraine
Jarvis Garrett - Cyprus
Andre Berry - Finland
EC Matthews - Raptors 905 (G League)
Hassan Martin - Montenegro
Four McGlynn - Spain
Jarelle Reischel - Germany
Nicola Akele - Italy
Xavier Munford - Delaware Blue Coats (G League)
Gilvydas Biruta - Lithuania
Earl Watson - Spain
Nik Malsevic - Romania
Orion Outerbridge - Austria
Kahiem Seawright - Turkey
Jimmy Baron - France
Lamonte Ulmer - France
Delroy James - Spain
Will Daniels - France
Also saw Jonathan Holton & Billy Baron are still at it. Couldn’t find anything on Kuran. Most impressive to me was Will Daniels still going strong after graduating in ‘08. I know Dawan Robinson also played for a very long time and just only recently retired.
Did I miss anyone?

Ulmer was incredible -- scored over 1,000 points without ever having a single play run for him.

No. He was at a game earlier in the season (or maybe it was last year...I am old & forgetful). He was sitting in the same seats X was sitting when they both were there.

Dennis McGovern would be my vote especially since there was no 3 point shot and only 3 years eligibility

Re: Where Are They Now? Former Player Results and News
Sorry, made a mistake on the year, it was 67-68and the player was Larry Johnson a two guard who played with Stephenson, it was my freshmen year. McGovern was the better all around player. I saw Larry score 40 without the three point line. There were others like Jon Nelson and Kevin Whiting and others I’ve forgotten but Jimmy was above all of them. Go Rhody!

The only guy I've ever seen with (maybe) more legit range was Dennis Scott from Georgia Tech.

I would have loved to have seen Jon Nelson play during the era of the 3 point shot. He could shoot from very deep during that 1978-79 Season.Rhode_Island_Red wrote: ↑4 years agoThe only guy I've ever seen with (maybe) more legit range was Dennis Scott from Georgia Tech.

Although in my opinion Trae is a volume shooter who needs to get "warmed up". With Jimmy, he could be guarded tight for 15 minutes and take his first shot with perfect technique like they'd just finished warmups.
For the opposite URI player as this, see Hellenga, Dustin. Man if he hadn't shot a few minutes earlier that next one could miss the rim by 5' lol. But when it came to degree of difficulty...
