Richards reaponded to a rhody question today on twitter about a possible visit. With a simple "time will tell." Response.

In order to do that he needs to commit from Rhody’s side on the visit. So he only offers Official Visits to a recruit he is willing to commit to. I could be wrong about this but that is my understanding. Hurley did the same thing when he was here.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑4 years agoI don't know what our other options are. I'm not sure how I am supposed to interpret this. Does that mean this is our fall back guy?

I don't know, but it seems like if we could afford to burn a schollie on DJ to sit on the bench for an entire season and watch, we could take a chance on Richards.
It doesn't appear we are involved with a lot of bigs and he's being recruited pretty hard by St. Bonaventure who have a history of finding under the radar big men who can play.

It doesn’t appear that way because the staff prefers it that way.reckless jake wrote: ↑4 years ago I don't know, but it seems like if we could afford to burn a schollie on DJ to sit on the bench for an entire season and watch, we could take a chance on Richards.

A big is their #1 priority.
Because it’s not publicized, don’t assume the staff is working. They are.

Any updates on other schools interest? Clearly we need a new big and I agree that it must be the teams #1 priority but what are the chances we get Richards vs another incoming freshmen recruit vs a transfer after the season?

Also what about our Naheem McCleod from last years recruiting class. As I recall he chose FSU last minute over us which hit me really hard, it would have been nice to have him training a year under Cyril. I found one older article saying he’s not on FSUs rosters for not meeting requirements. Guess no chance of transfer but just tosing it out and looking for others thoughts

At least from a Google and Twitter search, there hasn't been anything new on him since Florida State removed him from their roster. If he was academically ineligible, he could be at a junior college or prep school trying to boost his grades or credits; that could explain the radio silence. He's also 7'3", so who knows? He could just re-surface in the NBADL or some European league, and never play college ball.TrevlontRook3 wrote: ↑4 years ago Also what about our Naheem McCleod from last years recruiting class. He is enrolled at FSU and is an academic redshirt. Just like Obi Toppin did at Dayton.SGreenwell wrote: ↑4 years agoAt least from a Google and Twitter search, there hasn't been anything new on him since Florida State removed him from their roster. For once I'd love to see URI have some kind of super squad that strikes fear into the heart of their opponents! Richards and Harris would put that paint on lock down! Trying to keep positive vibes man.

Is Richards the fallback if Akeem doesn’t sign? Or are we involved with other bigs?

Pull the trigger on this kid.
Yes, you might lose the other guy, but you might end up with both. Something tells me their skill sets are about as different as CL and Harris, so just plan on getting both.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he was in attendance for the UMass game, not VCU.

I had a feeling someone was there at the UMASS game. Spotted a kid with a purple hat and jean jacket sitting behind the bench in the usual spot recruits sit.Billyboy78 wrote: ↑4 years ago Just found out he was at the UMass game. I don't think it had been reported.

Re: '20 NY C - Isaiah Richards (Offer)
Waiting for Akeem to decide could likely cost us Richards as well.
He's getting more offers like VCU.
I would think they can't wait much longer.

Re: '20 NY C - Isaiah Richards (Offer)
I'm starting to get a little nervous here. Must not panic.
I don't want to see an Ogundele 2.0 scenario, where Akeem markets himself up to a P5 team and then watch Richards goto VCU.
At the same time I don't want to blow this for TJ.
I realize that no two players are alike, but Akeem reminds of CL while Richards reminds of Antwan. Both in the 6'7" range. Akeem reminds of freshman CL where he was 6'7, but 6'9 with the 'fro. Richards is either 6'7 or 6'8, difficult to get a read from the pictures.
I hope we don't come up empty handed. Don't forget, we are losing CL and we lost Dana Tate, so our frontcourt need is potentially 2 players, but we need one minimum.

Let us not forget, that we said "Go tear up Monmouth, Bones!"
And now we have to contend with him for the next 3 years at VCU. I would rather much avoid that this time around, if it's all the same to everyone.

I am wondering why not both. Re: '20 NY C - Isaiah Richards (Offer)
They're both 2020 centers. Even if they say they're OK with it, it seems like you'd be setting yourself up for some headaches or a transfer in the fall, when they're both fighting for a lineup spot and playing time. And, I doubt they're both OK with it anyway - Why would you sign up with a program to immediately be in a position battle?DeanDome88 wrote: ↑4 years agoI am wondering why not both. I have considered that and you may be correct but Cox seems open to playing big and starts two bigs now so having 4 on the team doesn't seem to be too many from my point of view.SGreenwell wrote: ↑4 years agoThey're both 2020 centers.
