Re: The Patriot Way
My favorite thing about this is going to be all these fans of other teams that have hated both Bill and Tom getting so excited at the mere possibility of getting to have either one of them for a limited run at the very end of their careers.

Re: The Patriot Way
I could see Brady leaving - the whispers have been out for a while now that he's felt disrespected by the team, between their keeping Jimmy G. on the roster for so long to having him sign below-market deals and not always spending the money on offense. There's a lot of smoke there.
However, the "Belichick leaves" thing seems completely out of left field to me. Why? It's unlikely he would be as entrenched in a new organization as he is with the Patriots. If someone gets paid more than him, and he complains to Kraft about it, I'm positive Kraft would match and surpass that salary in half a second.

You're probably right about Garrett, but I agree, BB isn't going anywhere.SGreenwell wrote: ↑4 years ago I could see Brady leaving - the whispers have been out for a while now that he's felt disrespected by the team, between their keeping Jimmy G. on the roster for so long to having him sign below-market deals and not always spending the money on offense. He can win with any QB with a pulse. Not to the extent that he did with Brady, but I don't see a big falloff with the Pats as long as he's there.

Re: The Patriot Way
Curious why nobody thinks the Kraft situation in Florida wouldn’t be a concern to Brady/Belichick or any other team employees or their significant others? Granted of course they won’t bring it up publicly.
If I had a manager in the past accused or suspected of “activities” I would have privately wanted answers as an employee.
It never comes up ever anywhere any more.
Weird

Have heard Brady to the Charger a lot...am I missing something? Don't they still have Rivers? (Like that guy a lot...seems like someone that would probably be a good coach somewhere someday, too)reef wrote: ↑4 years ago I am thinking Brady is a 43 year old FA and Belichick won’t sign him and move on
I think MCDaniels leaves and gets a head coaching job and possibly brings Brady to his new home
I would think a Brady to Chargers is a decent possibility. Vegas could be an option for Tom personally I wouldn’t mind that at all !!

Hey at least they aren't the Brownies.
They have or are planning to interview about 10,000 people for their HC.
Hell, I'll do it for a few beans......

Talk about old school. Smash you into submission with the run game, and sprinkle in a couple over-the-top passes.

Rodgers will be running for his life against the 49ers.
San Fran will win easily.
KC will win also.
Good SB matchup.

Re: The Patriot Way
Interesting idea about on side kick alternative in this espn article - guess they'll be trying this at the Pr-Bowl:
As in past years, there will be no kickoffs at all in the Pro Bowl. The twist this year is that teams will have two options after scoring.
The first is to give the ball back to the opposition, which would start its drive at its 25-yard line. The new, second option for the scoring team would serve as a substitute for an onside kick. It would allow it to run one additional play from its own 25-yard line.
If the scoring team gains 15 or more yards, it would retain possession. If it falls short, the opposition would take over at the dead ball spot. Essentially, it will be a fourth-and-15 play

Re: The Patriot Way
Good passing teams would like that new rule if implemented.
Running teams, not so much.
They might limit that new option to the last 5 or so minutes of games?
Teams that can't stop the pass late in games won't like it either.
Here's looking at you, Giants.

Plus...anytime you can replace a play that's more likely to result in an injury than a highlight...seems like a good move.

Well it's SB day...…
Who you got?
I would like to see KC win, but I think SF will.
All depends on how much consistent pressure the SF front four puts on Mahomes.

Re: The Patriot Way
Edelman today says he thinks Brady is coming back.
The Pats are setting themselves up for a fall if they both come back.
Edelman is 34 and will get beat up again.
The decline is coming if it hasn't already started, and will only pick up speed.
If Brady gets his money, with their cap situation who will they get to help the offense?
I'm sure Belicheck knows this, but it might not be his call. And if so, he won't be a happy camper whatsoever.

Be curious to know how many Pats fans WANT him back for football playing (non-nostalgia) reasons only.
I'm not a Pats fan, but I would think they'd be better off spending the money elsewhere.

Yeah that’s a tough question if it’s up to me I would rather him back for 2 more seasons as I think he is still top 10-15 QB and if they can get more weapons around him they could be good again ?? It would kind of suck to see him finish in another uniform

Re: The Patriot Way
Eh, the thing is that with how NFL contracts work, any decent QB never makes it to free agency anyway. Like, the last really good one to do so was Drew Brees, and that's because he was coming off a severe injury. Same with Peyton Manning. Kirk Cousins got such a huge deal because he was the first pretty good QB to hit true free agency in years and years. If you want to replace Brady, your options are drafting a QB or choosing from the likes of Jameis Winston, Marcus Marriota, etc.NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑4 years ago Be curious to know how many Pats fans WANT him back for football playing (non-nostalgia) reasons only.
