After picking up their first conference win on Wednesday night against Davidson, Rhody travels to the Siegel Center to take on the VCU Rams. The theme of this match-up is 6 of the last 7. The good news is, the URI Rams have won 6 of the last 7 against the VCU Rams, including knocking VCU out of the A10 tournament the last 3 years. The bad news is, URI has lost 6 of the last 7 when they travel to Richmond. From what I’ve heard from one college basketball prognosticator, a VCU home game at the Siegel Center is more life altering than a 10-day trip to Europe. As someone who has taken a 10-day trip to Europe, I respectfully disagree…but nonetheless, it is a very difficult place to play. VCU’s bench depth will be an advantage as they usually roll 9 or 10 deep compared to Rhody’s 8. No one on VCU is averaging more then 27 minutes a game while URI has 4 players playing over 30 minutes a game including Fatts & Dowtin playing over 35 min a game. Containing Santos-Silva is a must given his 20/20 performance during their last match-up. VCU will be out for revenge this weekend & I think they may get it. Let’s just hope the Rhody magic against VCU continues & they squeak out the victory. Go Rhody!!
