Re: 12/29 | Middle Tennessee | 4:30PM (No TV?)
I expect a 6-10 point win.
Not easy, but hopefully not a one or two possession game late.
TP said it, is there a line on this game?
Anyway, should be high single digits.

Very funny.Running Ram wrote: ↑4 years ago We all get snarky from time to time with others here, myself, TP and even Obi included. It happens. Maybe someone close to Obi is a stroke survivor and he doesn't appreciate TP wishing strokes on people. I mean just sayin TP, you wished someone a stroke but can't take some snark about the overly simplified analysis you offered. Not that any of it is my business, but there's a lack of interesting threads atm.
Also, some people know the world is flat, we're not buying Obi's crazy "science"
How's that for off the rails?

Re: 12/29 | Middle Tennessee | 4:30PM (No TV?)
I am always wary of the over analysis of average statistics because specific game dynamics are always different. This is very true of Middle Tennessee stats where their record of 4-8 drops to 1-8 when you count only D1 games. Average stats show that MT rebounding is on par with their opponents, but when you look only at the D1 stats you find MT has been outrebounded in every game save one and when MT is badly outrebounded, they lose big time. Even these stats have to be used with caution given the return to action of two forwards, Scurry and Millner for the St. Bona game. Against the Bonnies, Scurry played 26 minutes and was the team's leading rebounder with 6. SBU won the glass by only 36-33. So the MT rebounding capability looks to be improved.
Nonetheless, it's hard to believe that with Langevine, Harris, Toppin and Walker the Rams will not a have decided rebounding advantage. It is also why we have to expect MT to take lots of three point shots and to force the Rams to foul so they can get to the FT line. In the Bonnies game, they had 21 FTA's versus 11 for SBU, but their FT shooting was not great contributing to that loss. Also, MT does not take of the ball well, averaging 15+ TO's in their D1 games.

Re: 12/29 | Middle Tennessee | 4:30PM (No TV?)
Good article though they completely botched some stats to try to make a point. Said we have only assisted on 27% of our last 90 FGs. Very wrong...over last 3 games we have assisted on 46 of our 90 made shots. 51%. Anything over 50% is where you want to be. Couple that with low turnover numbers and those two stats bode well for success if they continue.

I'm hoping to see us get a comfortable one.
The fact they have two new forwards will take away a bit of our advantage against them.
If we play the way we did against WKU I think it will be pretty comfy.

8 losses by average margin of 17.3 points for MTSU - should be an easy win

I feel like the teams that have beaten us this year have beat us with size up front. Will be interesting to see how we handle a bunch of scrappy guards. Need to play tight def and let our big guys dominate down low.
Looking forward to getting back to b-ball.

This could be a 'Family and Friends' game. The Titans are playing for the final playoff spot, also at 4:30. My guess for attendance would be around 583.

Re: 12/29 | Middle Tennessee | 4:30PM (No TV?)
This game has all sorts of weirdness about it. I know UMBC declined to play us as part of the Jamaica Classic, so the Rams lose a game from the schedule. URI plays a game on December 6 and then plays only one game in a 23 day period. Then after an eight day lull, the Rams go on the road to play a game that has only downside associated with it. Our NET dropped 4 points following a 4 point OT win over WKU. What comes next is anybody's guess.

Re: 12/29 | Middle Tennessee | 4:30PM (No TV?)
Well Obie, if we lose it, there won't be a need to talk about at large chances.
Because there won't be any. Our NET would fall to a very dark place where recovery would be really hard to overcome.
Yes there are a lot of games left, but if we aren't good enough to beat this team, then how are we going to actually beat a good A10 team on the road?
Sorry, but this is a MUST win in all regards.

Re: 12/29 | Middle Tennessee | 4:30PM (No TV?)
Spare us the dramatics, bone. If we lose it doesn’t mean anything about the team. It just means we played poorly today and lost. Better teams lose to worse teams every day.rambone 78 wrote: ↑4 years ago Well Obie, if we lose it, there won't be a need to talk about at large chances.

You are already gearing the board for a meltdown of epic proportions. We’ve lost to bad teams in the past and the team still found a way to shape its own destiny.
If we lose today, should the team just pack it in for the rest of the season?

Re: 12/29 | Middle Tennessee | 4:30PM (No TV?)
This is a sobering fact to consider before two OOC road games this week:
URI has but a single win in its last 11 OOC true road games. It in fact only has a total of two OOC road wins (out of 14) in the last five seasons.

Maryland L
Hawaii L
Holy Cross W (DCU Center)
Providence L
Charleston L
Alabama L
Nevada L

Just think, we are playing a team with a NET ranking of 290 and we are all as nervous as a virgin in the White House.

I don't care about the NET.
It's a road game. We need to go in there and take care of business. Easier said than done on the road. Just keep the eye on the prize and do it.

Re: 12/29 | Middle Tennessee | 4:30PM (No TV?)
I’m not nervous and don’t really understand the nervousness of others. We haven’t won a ton of OOC road games in recent years, but we also haven’t had a lot, if any, against teams as beatable as Midd Tenn. Maybe Holy Cross.

Re: 12/29 | Middle Tennessee | 4:30PM (No TV?)
Actually URI has probably played more true road OOC games than most of the A-10 (and every P5 team) in the last five years. The top teams such as Dayton and VCU, with large arenas that sell out, rarely play true road games. Even lower level teams such as Duquesne and Fordham play mostly at home. Rhody has typically played more road games over the last several seasons than nearly any other team.
A-10 2019-20 OOC Road Games
Dayton 0
Duquesne 0
Fordham 0
SLU 1
LaSalle 2
GMU 2
VCU 2
GW 3
Richmond 3
Davidson 4
St Joes 4
UMass 4
URI 4
SBU 5

Re: 12/29 | Middle Tennessee | 4:30PM (No TV?)
I'm not nervous at all.
I expect us to maybe be a little sluggish and we struggle with them a little bit, yet we make sure we win.
I want a blow out.
A blow out is more likely than a loss at this point.
The last time we really played poorly was the Manhattan game.
They might be fired up and compete with us for a while, but we would have to seriously stink it up to lose.
Watched the highlights against St Bona and Osyanni or whatever his name is for the Bonnie's killed them.
We basically have three of those guys inside.
Have some confidence in us!

Re: 12/29 | Middle Tennessee | 4:30PM (No TV?)
I think you misread my comment. I wasn’t saying we haven’t played many road games, I was saying we haven’t played many teams on the road as bad as Middle Tennessee.RF1 wrote: ↑4 years agoActually URI has probably played more true road OOC games than most of the A-10 (and every P5 team) in the last five years. I just signed up for the one day pass. So, I guess it gives you 24 hours... Wondering if anyone bought the one day pass and is using it to look at previous MTSU games...you know, to get a good scout...because that would be seriously hardcore...and it would be good to know who you are

I might of missed it with these layoffs or too much egg nog but what’s the deal with Tate? Will he be back today? God I hope so. I really want him to be the player he can be. Just missing the pee Cee game alone is punishment.

CUSA.tv is its own separate app. So if you have a fire stick or fire tv or whatever then you can download the app, pay the one day fee for $6.95 and see the game that way.
