Apologies if I missed this discussion but why was Tate suspended?

Re: Tate
He was very enthusiastic during each timeout, I agree it was encouraging for someone sitting out, we need you Dana, learn and grow from itsteviep123 wrote: ↑4 years ago What did encourage me, I did see Tate very engaged and cheering on teammates during one of the timeouts.

Re: Tate
Agreed....regardless of what - it was a violation of team rules according to the report and we can leave it at that. Let it stay internal. If it's handled, it's handled.phipsiGD'11 wrote: ↑4 years agoDon't say it, let it be internal with the team.
And next time, don't tease it here either.

Re: Tate
Good coaching and knowing your team by Cox.
Tate was a big supporter in clear good spirits on the bench.
His teammates carried the load on the court.

Agreed Blue Man. This might be another game that the team could have folded a year ago when PC cut it to 2. This year, after cutting it to 2, URI closed on an 18-6 run! Several winning plays in that stretch! That's good coaching and playing. I love this team!

Rhodymob05 wrote: ↑4 years ago Just my opinion, but Tate should be the 4th guy off the bench behind Topin, Walker, and Long right now.
Still ahead of Long at least.
Long is good, but you gotta think Dana has more upside and his issue is a confidence thing up to this point.
Long has been really good at playing within himself and playing hard nosed defense.
If Tate can do that, it would be huge for us, because he has a lot of ability in that big muscular body.
Cox talked a lot about how good he had gotten over the summer. It's time for him to show it.
Just gotta get out of his head a bit.
Long and Toppin came out there against Providence ready to honor the gameplan and get after it.
Thats all Tate has to do and believe in himself.

Re: Tate
Tate is a more skilled basketball player at this point than all of those guys. I haven’t seen Walker yet so I’ll reserve judgment there, but Toppin and Long each bring something unique to the floor with them. They’re all different players (which is good to have off the bench) and different situations will be better for one or the other of them. People are way too down on Dana. Dana can play. Couple bad games should not be enough for fans to turn on their players but we seem to have a really itchy trigger for that.

KBers forget the Bama game, where he had a solid game and had that nice dunk where he split the DRhody83 wrote: ↑4 years agoAgreeTruePoint wrote: ↑4 years ago Tate is a more skilled basketball player at this point than all of those guys. Re: Tate
I think Dana will soon be a solid producer and I could even see him creeping into the starting lineup if Harris doesn't turn a corner.
Keeping things in perspective...
Hurley (12-18):
Y1 8-21 (T14th), Y2 14-18 (10th), Y3 23-10 (T2nd, NIT), Y4 17-15 (7th), Y5 25-10 (T3rd, NCAA), Y6 26-8 (1st, NCAA).
Miller (22-?):
Y1 9-22 (14th), Y2 12-20 (T10th).

Re: Tate
I would agree that Toppin has the most confidence of that group. He is relaxed and shows no signs of nervousness. The PC game is the only game Long seemed relaxed/confident. He has made nervous type plays in most of the other games.Rhodymob05 wrote: ↑4 years ago I just think his lack of confidence is troublesome compared to long and Toppin who have shown more guts. Tate is talented, but its talent is no use when is not used.

Re: Tate
Cox said it would take him a few games to get used to the speed of play in actual games.
He hasn't played in them for quite a while.
He will likely play 5-10 minutes at first, and build up from there.
At least I would think that's the plan.

Wasn’t an on court issue. Just not something for internet people to speculate about a 20 year old’s non-basketball doings.rambone 78 wrote: ↑4 years ago That's good to know also.
He has to be frustrated with his play.....wonder if that had something to do with whatever he did.
