Of course, if he turns out to be as good as his brother, then he's probably not going to do that, but he'll be here 3 years at least.
Having that year off to develop really helped Obi be very good right off the bat.
Jacob is a true freshmen so he doesn't have that.

EC was much more of an NBA prospect after his Fr year than Jacob will be.
Pump the breaks a little. Let’s see him have a great Soph year first.

Richmond hanging tough. But these announcers are P5 shills and are just horrible.

Watching the Dayton game, Bilas just said Obi Toppin is shooting 73% from the field for the season, pretty impressive

Are you saying it’s not a guarantee that EC’s Fr year will be better than Jacob’s?NYGFan_Section208 wrote: ↑4 years agoI don't think this is a guarantee...
If you are, you need to be drug tested.
EC’s stats:
Started 25 games
Avg 14.2 ppg, 2.4 Ast, 4.3 Rebs, 0.9 steals.
After his Fr year EC was invited to the NBA Development Camp - top Fr & Soph invited.

Richmond vs Auburn similar to our game vs LSU. Auburn's bigs are quicker and more athletic than Richmond's like LSU's were against us. For sure LSU shot the ball a lot better.

To have any chance when we play Dayton we will have to double team Obi when he gets the ball down low and let someone else beat us. Either that or hope he plays outside and has real problems with his 3 point shot.

Came here to post this exact sentence. A10 is looking much better than I would have imagined.
Auburn pulling away but Richmond still looks competitive for A10 conference. Better than I would have thought.

Dayton looks scary good, especially on the defensive end. Rhody is going to need a lot of ball and player movement to score. I’d take a split in a heartbeat.

Agree on the slowing down of Jacob T early entry to the NBA
He does have great potential but it’s very rare we have a guy who puts his name in the draft before he is ready

It is ridiculous. We rarely put a guy in the draft after his four years let alone to leave early. How many have left since Lamar Odom? Great kid that we are lucky to have and should be a fixture for many years with URI, but there have been many great college players that never even sniff the pros. His brother on the other hand will be spending his days in the NBA probably next year.

Dayton played great defense, shot well and passed beautifully amassing 22 assists. Dayton has depth and a number of excellent new addition to their roster.
Would love to see the Flyers win this Tournament - just 1 more game. Would be great for Dayton and the A10. Imagine the odds going into this tournament for Dayton to win it all.

Down by 15 points to Northern Iowa midway through second half, West Virginia rallied late to win, 60-55, to bring their record to 5-0. They take on the Rams on Sunday at 2 PM in Morgantown

Obi is going to be a lottery pick. He is physically overpowering and dominating in the way Zion was last year. He looks virtually unstoppable.

Writers are calling it the biggest D1 upset in 15 years, since the Gardner Webb upset of Kentucky.
Credit to the SFA HC for not calling a time out in those final seconds.

Re: Week #4- Games of Interest
Makes you wonder why URI can’t win one of the three big games of at Maryland and West Virginia or neutral game with LSU? It would be nice to take a game for once where we were the underdog instead of losing and saying well that isn’t a terrible loss and if we had a couple of our bench players eligible the score might be different. We don’t have to pull an upset of the Kentucky and Duke level on the road. Just need to be a decent West Virginia team on the road. Let’s win at WVU if we want to be in the tourney talk.

Re: Week #4- Games of Interest
The biggest weakness for Duke these past few years is shooting. Coach K seems to be getting starstruck by athleticism and compiling classes of 4 and 5 top level recruits rather than putting together the best balanced team. It used to be he'd pick one or two of the top 10 ranked players then fill in with less heralded players with skill. Last year they weren't far ahead of the atrocious-shooting Rhody team in 3-pointers (ranked in the 320s) and this year while better they are still around middle of the pack (150). And the FTs are not free: Duke shot 24-40 from the line, pretty much due to the most athletic guys but with the least touch banging down low.
While compiling top signees raises your ceiling, it doesn't guarantee a title. For all the chasing of the "one and done" stars, I would say the 2014-15 Duke team and 2011-12 Kentucky teams are the only straight teams with this philosophy to win this past decade. And Kentucky needed a generational player like Anthony Davis to do so, guys like that don't grow on trees.
Not to say Duke won't change their stripes during the season and coast to a title at the end (youth is volatile both in highs and lows), but the track record on these teams is not ideal.
