Re: NY Giants
Will be interesting to see how exactly Cleveland screws all this up!
How about OBJ and AB both being traded in the same offseason. Pretty incredible.

Re: NY Giants
I think the Giants eventually tired of OBJ's antics and looked to move him, but the timing was odd, as they had just paid him 20 million not that long ago...and they have to take a cap hit also.
As for what they got for him...Peppers is no big deal imo, and the 3rd round pick is at the very end of the round...95th overall.
Wonder how Haskins, the QB they are looking to draft, feels about losing his best target before he even suits up for them.
This team is basically starting from scratch other than Barkley....look for the Jets to be the better team in NY for a while.
And the Giant D? Worse than last year since they let Collins go, and traded Vernon away. Ugly.

Gettleman's not doing these things in a vacuum...I'm sure Mara signs off on whatever personnel decisions are made.
But these moves are a huge gamble...what have they got to lose?
Their future, that's all.

Re: NY Giants
Giants just signed Golden Tate...nice pickup....maybe there's some plan, or hope, or something......and it makes it obvious at least to me, that they wanted to move on from OBJ...at least he's in the other conference.

Re: NY Giants
After all of these moves, some of them strange to say the least, who will the Giants take with their 6th pick in the draft?
Haskins is the most logical, but with the Giants track record, they'll probably take some guy from East Podunk U. that nobody's ever heard of.

Not only that, Haskins ended up in Washington, where he will no doubt make the Giants regret not taking him.

Re: NY Giants
Heard one of the Ringer NFL guys say that this draft reminded them of 2011, and I agreed with that take. In that draft, Cam Newton went #1, and the other three QBs off the board in the first round were Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert and Christian Ponder. All three seemed like reaches at the time, and two QBs in the second round - Colin Kaepernick and Andy Dalton - were better, and arguably, so was sixth rounder Tyrod Taylor. Murray seems like a stellar prospect - great stats, good scouting reports - and the other QBs this year seem like reaches by the teams drafting them.

Giants are losing all of their WR's....now they have another excuse for losing.
Another long season ahead.
Barkley is a stud....but can't win with just him.

Agreed. Let's face it, sometimes millennials do things different 'cause it makes more sense. If you have the cash to to live comfortably and decide to pull yourself out of a sport where 11 of the baddest men on the planet line up to try to take your head off on every play...cheers to you. Andrew Luck doesn't owe anyone anything and that booing that he got at the stadium - pathetic. That was one of their last chances to give that guy the thankful round of applause that he deserved. If I'm him after that, I'm thinking, why the eff did I even hang this long?

What a team!
No defense and no deep threats on offense.
Good thing Miami is so bad....another [very] high draft pick is coming.

Re: NY Giants
ramster, no.....a few more losses, and Jones will get a shot.
However it's not much Manning's fault they are 0-2.
He's got very few down the field options...…
The defense is the main problem. It's going to take a couple of years to get the defense good enough....
Putting Jones in isn't going to solve anything, but if nothing else it will give him some game experience this season.
I'm OK with Shurmer, but the GM will be on the hot seat and should be if they don't improve in all areas next season.

Re: NY Giants
If you aren’t going to be good anyways, play the kid. Even if Eli were better than Jones, do the Giants actually want to win any games this year? Wouldn’t they rather see what they have with Jones since they’re likely to pick in the top-3 again and should want know if they need to draft a QB again or not? I’d also rather try to accelerate his career arc since you never know how many years you’ll get Saquon at this level and you don’t want to waste his prime playing for all teams that win single-digit games.
Anyways, I don’t know if Jones is any good or not, but I know Eli’s career was over two years ago and he’s wasting everyone’s time now. There’s no reason he is playing in NFL games in 2019.

Cousin Sal had a good crack today that they should just play Daniel Jones, except for the Patriots game, and start Manning in that one.

From the article:
New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur was noncommittal Monday about Eli Manning being his starting quarterback this week on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The other option would be turning to No. 6 overall pick Daniel Jones.
A final decision is expected by Wednesday.

Give the kid some reps.
Wins and losses don't matter. Their defense is putrid.
Who cares if they win 3 or 6 games? 6 would be a stretch though lol.

Daniel Jones...DJ.....deej......
A "W"...amazing. As a Giants fan, you knew they were going to give up a short FG as time expires for the loss as soon as they scored the last TD.
You were psyched for about 5 seconds...only because you had no idea the guy would pull a Norwood...(altho actually...that guy...that day...)

Re: NY Giants
Yeah he blew 2 extra points too.
The Giants will take it. They've been beaten several times recently by long FG's at the end of games.
Their D still blows though. Janoris Jenkins was putrid trying to cover Evans all day.
Still, it's a great sign for the future with this kid at QB. He can run, something Eli could only dream of.
Also winning without Barkley. This football can be weird sometimes.

Re: NY Giants
Gettleman has to be given credit for drafting Barkley [obviously] and now Jones.
Now he has to step up and improve the defense in next season's draft.
I doubt Jones will duplicate yesterday's performance anytime soon, now that teams can focus more on him now that Saquon will be out a few weeks.
But the future sure looks brighter than it did before Sunday.
