It's not surprising people dont think we are a top 36 team.
We are nothing but potential will not much proof that we can be that good yet.

This has some merit, but they just need a few pieces to support the knowns of Cyril and Jeff. I’d also include Fatts and Tyrese in that- Fatts, for better or worse, and Tyrese because you can see how it will all come together for him.PeterRamTime wrote: ↑5 years ago

Last season, all of the freshmen would have had to excel immediately for them to have a great season. This season, they just need a few of those other options (Sheppard and Walker are my best bets) to do it, alone or in combination, and that seems very possible.

Re: 2019-20 Schedule (top post is current)
I think the 2 biggest keys to next year and a possible tournament run are do the sophomores keep progressing from freshman year and can Antwan Walker and Jeremy Shepperd emerge as impactful contributors off the bench.
This team has a lot of potential but a lot of unknowns.

Re: 2019-20 Schedule (top post is current)
As things stand now, I put us 4th behind VCU, Dayton, and Davidson.
Those 3 will Dance, and we are the wild card.
Tough call as to whether we get in....way too early but it can be done. Team and coaching will have to take a couple of steps up.
This year's OOC schedule performance will be just as important as the league schedule.

Which is absolute BS. We had the number 1 class last year. I expect this team to dance next year.rambone 78 wrote: ↑5 years ago As things stand now, I put us 4th behind VCU, Dayton, and Davidson.

Who cares what the class was ranked. The reality is we have reached the A-10 semis and had a mediocre season at best. Nothing more. Who would rank us ahead of the other teams? Can we finish ahead of some of them-no doubt if some of the new players come through quick and the freshman from last year take a big step forward.theblueram wrote: ↑5 years agoWhich is absolute BS. At this point the Number 1 Class preseason designation is just that, preseason news.RamStock wrote: ↑5 years agoWho cares what the class was ranked. We had nobody from that class make the all freshman team - I would never have guessed that preseason.
St Bonaventure beat us handily in the Semi’s with 3 freshmen starters in Welch, Osuniyi and Lofton. Osuniyi and Lofton both made the All Freshman team.
Hopefully we see Harris, Martin and Tate take big improvement steps in their Sophomore years

If they do take that big step then St Bonaventure can kiss our ASS because they'll have no chance.
We were destroying them at the beginning of that game and ran out of gas.
In the first game against them I'd say Tate and Martin outplayed them back in January.
Martin and Tate are bound to be better. With all the flashes they showed throughout the year.
Harris couldn't play any worse.... pretty confident about his progression too.
So excited for this season. The nonconference slate is going to be intense!

Re: 2019-20 Schedule (top post is current)
While the Bonnies have some talented freshmen that return, it should be noted that three of their top six scorers are leaving. Furthermore, much of their success last year in league play was due to the unbalanced schedule. They only played the top NET league schools (VCU/DAV/DAY/SLU - which were also the only teams that went to the NCAA and NIT) a total of six games including the tourney. They went 1-5 versus this group while doing very well against the rest of the league. Rhody on the other hand played nine games versus the top four going 4-5.

While the OOC is already shaping up to be one of our best/toughest, possibly ever - we could possibly have in-conference H/H's with Dayton, Davidson, and VCU.
We will have possibly 9 Q1 opportunities. That's how you build an NCAA resume.

I can’t remember when ESPN/ESPN2 does it’s friday night A-10 basketball games? December seems early to me and I don’t know if it’s only league A-10 games?
Either way this game has TV written all over it. Maybe NBC sports but most likely CBS college sports.
Can you imagine what the scene is going to be like on a Friday night in Kingston? Wow.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that comment.

Would it have been better if he said “The town of Kingston will be very intoxicated from drinking alcoholic beverages.”

Re: 2019-20 Schedule (top post is current)
No, it wouldn’t be better. I take from his comment that his prevailing thought of a big basketball game at URI is that people get drunk. We fans don’t go to watch an excellent basketball team (URI). We use the game as an excuse to go out and get drunk. The reality is most fans will get out of work, grab a bite to eat and head to the game. We all know that the RC is not focused on alcohol consumption. I wonder if K Mac would tweet the same about PC fans if the game was on Friday or Saturday night at the Dunk?

Re: 2019-20 Schedule (top post is current)
I think the comment was more aimed on it being a Friday night game. Friday night tends to be more of a Happy Hour, Party night of the Week just because it is Friday night. I didn't take the comment negatively towards URI, in fact, I think if the game was Friday Night at the Dunk he would have made the same comment, maybe even stronger.Rhody83 wrote: ↑5 years agoNo, it wouldn’t be better. I'm pretty sure it'll be rather LUBED UP that friday.
People have a problem with that saying ONLY because of Kmacs reputation in their eyes.

My guess as well that it wouldn't matter where the game was. Probably makes him feel young and in tune again to talk about Friday night drinkin', when that is actually 'old' school. Young drinkers - and my guess is he's referring to students - don't wait for, or single out Friday night...or, at least we didn't used to...ramster wrote: ↑5 years agoI think the comment was more aimed on it being a Friday night game. When I was in school (before we had electricity), Thursday night was THE party night on campus. That was when all the keg parties, block parties, full pub, etc. happened. Re: 2019-20 Schedule (top post is current)
The more interest question about the PC this year is will our Athletic Dept treat PC like they treated us last year.
They screwed URI on ticket location last year for the first time. URI went back to them and ask for the same tickets they had received in previous years (two blocks of tickets - one in the lower section and one in the upper corner). They were denied. The full ticket allotment was in the upper corner. I hope the URI Athletic Dept reciprocates this year and gives PC the 300 corner right near our student sections.

Re: 2019-20 Schedule (top post is current)
Blueram. Thursday was also our biggest night! Things never change.
It is not a commuter campus anymore.
And to second Rhody83 I actually didn’t go to the Dunk to watch the game this previous December because I was ticked off that any ticket I could get was a nosebleed $65 seat. The 300s in the Ryan Center is far superior to what Pee Cee offers to us. I wasn’t in the mood to get heckled by one of their “fans”. - Dah Fryuh Faithful
