So URI went from his top 25 to his top 6

Re: ‘20 MD Elijah Wood (Offer)
The list of logos he posted a few months ago had 25 schools.
They get to take 5 official visits.
Maybe that is what Iggy was referring to.

The visit can go 48 hours. It didn’t start until Saturday morning so it can go all the way to early tomorrow morning.

This would certainly help manage summer recruiting better having a commitment in the hopper already.

Elijah and Ian Steele, the channel 6 sports guy, just followed each other on twitter in the past 15 minutes, if that's any indication.

Re: ‘20 MD Elijah Wood (Offer)
Given that we have the next 14 hours to wait and see...can anyone tell me how Tulane landed this kid in the first place? TU isn’t exactly a top tier school for b-ball. This kid is borderline top 100. Thoughts?

He had a strong relationship with Dunleavy. Contrary to popular belief, some kids believe in paving their own way. While I still have reservations, I’m hoping this kid lives up to his rating, and then some.SandorClegane wrote: ↑5 years ago Given that we have the next 14 hours to wait and see...can anyone tell me how Tulane landed this kid in the first place? Re: ‘20 MD Elijah Wood (Offer)
From the outside it’s hard to measure the intangibles, I haven’t seen him play but obviously if Cox is ready to kick down a scholarship before the summer starts this kid must be something special. Cox is building a deep roster that is well spread across grades, freshmen won’t have the pressure to perform out of the gate like last years class was.

Re: ‘20 MD Elijah Wood (Offer)
I wouldn’t increase the projected talent level (something special) based on an early commitment. Getting a player early has become a recruiting strategy for URI (Long last June and Tate the year before). They fill their #1 need for the ‘20 class at PG and it let’s them narrow the focus early in the recruiting cycle for the other spots. It allows them to prioritize 4-5 recruits for two potential open spots. They can give more attention they can give to their top priority (Miles) and a top big man (???). Making these recruits feel the most important could help sway the decision to Rhody in the end. I am not sure of Elijah’s connections in the DMV but he could help them recruit as well. I remember Tate engaging with other recruits after he committed.CT Rhody wrote: ↑5 years ago From the outside it’s hard to measure the intangibles, I haven’t seen him play but obviously if Cox is ready to kick down a scholarship before the summer starts this kid must be something special. I like the athleticism I see in the videos but I'm not sure he ends up a PG. will be interesting to see what they do with other scholarships.

Re: ‘20 MD Elijah Wood (Offer)
Here is a Tulane message board thread on his announcing acceptance. Tulane has been recruiting him since 9th grade. When Dunleavy got fired them Wood decommitted. Interesting that new HC Ron Hunter was not able to convince him to stay at Tulane or chose not to convince him to stay.DC_Rams wrote: ↑5 years agoHe had a strong relationship with Dunleavy. Hunter was an excellent steal by Tulane from Georgia State. He could very well turn things around there.

I believe he played out of position last year in High School. Most of the starters where Guards and he was the tallest of the group. He covered the opposing teams F or C.

My guess is two of those games he didn’t play much for some reason.
I like the 78 Assist in really 17 games - 4.6 Assist/game.

How is the guy ranked in the early 100’s? He doesn’t seem to shoot foul shots well and doesn’t seem like a great scorer. Hopefully he is an incredible passer.

He’s athletic and has a very high upside according to most coaches and scouts.RamStock wrote: ↑5 years agoHow is the guy ranked in the early 100’s? He doesn’t seem to shoot foul shots well and doesn’t seem like a great scorer. Hopefully he is an incredible passer.

Re: ‘20 MD Elijah Wood (Offer)
I know everyone and their uncles went nutty over our poor shooting last season, but honestly it's one of the easiest skills involved to improve. If we are talking about someone with good handle, good awareness and good athleticism, there's your trifecta that puts him in the top 100 and rightfully so.
Go Rhody!!!

They played more than 19 games, the Washington post is a bad place to check schedules or stats. They are almost always wrong.

He played for a bad HS team, that’s about all I can say. His offers came from summer league/AAU. He plays with more reckless abandon then.

and lets not forget about the optics of a four star signing early in the cycle. I'll be the first guy to dismiss star/rankings but others see it and believe it.

He is starting to sound like Jon Lucky. Everything about him sounds similiar from ranking, to foul shots, three point shooting and being more a distributor

He was supposed to go play for a better school, but came back to MD late to play. Slim pickings and tough to get into a WCAC school late cycle. Coaches in the area love the kid.ramster wrote: ↑5 years agoI see no statistics in max preps, only game results.DC_Rams wrote: ↑5 years agoThey played more than 19 games, the Washington post is a bad place to check schedules or stats. He did play for a bad HS team, but why? Wouldn’t a top prospect seek out a more competitive environment? Would other top schools in DMV try to recruit him to play with them?
Shouldn’t his individual stats has been better playing on a bad team in a weak league?

What coaches love him? He was real bad this HS season, and check his stats this year on UAA with District WAWG during April pd in KC. He’s nothing like Jeff D. He was player in HS/AAU etc. This kid was 6”5 9th grader so got lot buzz since then hasn’t done much. Been to 4 HS and left powerhouse Sunrise after he seen he wouldn’t play. St. Andrews who’s decent private school in dmv he left there after 9th grade. Good luck to him. He’s more of wing then PG can’t guard quick fast athletic guards. He does have measurables for HS jr.
