The local feedback on Silverio is that the kid can really shoot it, big and athletic. Needs to work on ball handling and quickness.

Omar ar Dyckman Courts vs Rozier
Rhody’s Omar Silverio was in the Bronx last night at the Dyckman courts. He played against 4 NBA players including Terry Rozier. Unconfirmed Omar scored 30 points! He is #8 in white in the video. The 12 minute video is mostly showing Terry and his team. However Omar scores 16 points in the 12 minute video! His highlights are at 3:50, 4:30, 5:30, 7:50 (two buckets), 8:45 & 10:42. He is also covering Rozier in the opening highlight - great D but Terry still scores. Enjoy, coming to the Ryan Center soon.
Edit: per Dyckman Basketball Twitter Omar had 29 points last night. Rozier had 21.

Re: '18 NY G - Omar Silverio (URI Signed LOI)
Omar was a steal and a half especially how late in the process we got him. Like I said I think he fits exactly what we needed more then Adam's. Filled that role of a pure shooter which this team could really use. Showed some good defense against rozier on that one play. And can continue to develop his driving ability this class will be extremely complimentary of each other.

The best part of last night for me is he didn't shy away from the lights and the challenge. Always good to stock up on big game players

Re: '18 NY G - Omar Silverio (URI Signed LOI)
Generally Dyckman games aren't high on defense, similar to an NBA game no one really tries on that end of the floor until the 3rd and 4th quarter.
That said, 30 points is 30 points and no matter how you cut it we should be excited by that performance given the other comp on the floor.

I know other people feel differently, but I feel like outside of maybe Hassan Martin, all the other players ended up having careers that landed within the range of what the predictions would be at the start for them. I think we are do for another Hassan Martin type of player that completely outplays the circumstances of their recruitment and initial guesses at their potential.
Maybe this guy is that guy.

Martin was a top 150 prospect via Rivals FYI, how many of those have we had since Hurley arrived? Off the top of my head Mathews, Terrel, Martin, Harris, any others?Seawrightspostgame wrote:I know other people feel differently, but I feel like outside of maybe Hassan Martin, all the other players ended up having careers that landed within the range of what the predictions would be at the start for them. Re: '18 NY G - Omar Silverio (URI Signed LOI)
Idk I get your point. It’s not a great one for a couple reasons. His hype was around a vision of him playing from the perimeter. Like VCU’s Graham. Martin never came close to the style of play of that guy. He turned out to be a dominant center. Like take your team to the sweet sixteen center. And he’s like 6”5. That’s ridiculous.
Then the top 150 thing? That’s something we like a lot and it gets us URI fans more interested in guys. But the teams Martin ended up beating and passing by aren’t looking at a center who might be 6”6 who turned out to be a legit centerpiece of a sweet sixteen type of team as just landing easily within his potential projections out of high school because he was part of the first 50 guys listed after the top 100. Especially when that was tied to a vision of the perimeter.
I say sweet sixteen because he was hurt and we lost after having the lead with a minute to go.

Also, if Cyril played as well as he did and he had a healthy Hass, no way we lose.Seawrightspostgame wrote:Idk I get your point. It’s not a great one for a couple reasons. Even with all that, we were 2 minutes and an atrocious offensive foul call away from winning.PeterRamTime wrote:Also, if Cyril played as well as he did and he had a healthy Hass, no way we lose.Seawrightspostgame wrote:Idk I get your point. my god I love this thread. Hurley’s tampering! wait, he committed to URI? it’s all fine and good, nothing to see here . Also, playground ball can be misleading. His new haircut was one of my highlights to the season, and I wish him well!

I envision Omar going closer to home to play.....lots of choices in the Metro New York area....I think there was a death in his family this past year....maybe he gets a waiver on sitting out a year to be closer to his family at home....
