Re: Week #10 – Games of Interest
Nevada, playing at home, beats Boise State by 1 point on a 3 pointer by Cody Martin with 4 seconds to go
Saint Louis beats Fordham by 3 playing at Fordham
St Joseph’s beats Davidson
Bobby Huggins and WVU gets clobbered by 31 points to TCU

The highlight I saw of Cody Martin's 3 looked like they were in Boise.

WVU is terrible. Makes our "best win" not look so good.

Re: Week #10 – Games of Interest
Rhody unfortunately doesn't have any real good wins. Per the NET rankings through games of 1/14/19, #131 URI's wins are:
URI Wins (average NET #210)
96 West Virginia (not counting last night's loss)
130 Brown
162 Harvard
182 Holy Cross (not counting last night's loss)
210 Richmond
254 Charlotte
317 Bryant
327 Mid Tenn St
URI Losses (average NET #125)
63 St Louis (not counting last night win)
98 PC (not counting last night win)
104 Charleston
132 Stony Brook
143 GMU
158 Hawaii
175 Bucknell (not counting last night win)
#131 Rhody actually has more losses (4) to teams ranked after it in the NET rankings than it does wins (2) over teams ranked ahead of it. URI's schedule to date has not been difficult per the NET as the opponent average for games played is #170 (out of 353 teams).

Re: Week #10 – Games of Interest
1st time I have ever seen both head coaches ejected from the game at the same time - Frank Haith and Dan Hurley
Tulsa now leading by 10 with 11 minutes to go but UCONN has scored 7 straight

Re: Week #10 – Games of Interest
Both coaches went toe-to-toe and received double technicals. Dan then went for the handshake (like he did with Ed Cooley) and the refs held him back and ejected both coaches from the game.

I almost didn't believe it, but Hurley was never ejected from a game in his entire time at URI. Already has two ejections in 18 games at UConn.

Re: Week #10 – Games of Interest
and if Hurley had just shut his mouth and walked away after the ref initially got between them he doesn't even get 1 technical let alone tossed.
Instead he keeps shouting at the other coach and ref with an assistant trying to push him away...the Tulsa coach is yelling back, hence the 1st T each.
Hurley then walks back towards a coach that still wants nothing to do with him looking for a handshake, which prompts the 2nd T each.
All he has do to there is shut up and it never escalates

That was the problem with the UConn job -fans expect a top 10 team every year, stacked with 5 star recruits. Not gonna happen in the AAC.

Re: Week #10 – Games of Interest
Dan might have stayed, but I think he wasn't happy with the pace of increased infrastructure and budget commitments.
He obviously didn't think we could ever get to the level where UConn could get to.
However UConn itself has money problems that dwarf ours right now. Really not sure how far he can go even there.

You may not agree with his decision, but I’m baffled by people not understanding it for him. He’s happy there (that’s a shrug). And it will be even better once a few guys on the roster cycle out. Sure would be nice to have Enoch on that roster.

UCONN has and always will have a higher ceiling than URI.
How and why people don’t understand the move still baffles me.

It was a 6pm start for them being in the central time zone. Late arriving crowd. Looks to have filled up as game went on. Furthermore, it is a big venue seating 10k.

Re: Week #10 – Games of Interest
No one is denying UConn is a better job than URI. People just took Dan's words and believed he would only leave for one of the elite jobs. Most thought that meant a P5 job as they do not consider the Huskies of today in the AAC still a plum position.

I've spent the evening drinking and I recognize this as a completely nonsensical take. Like, yeah, I've had a lot of rum, but maybe let's not mainline the cherry flavored lead paint and post? Have you seen our mascot? Have you seen the Billiken? Have you seen the Friar? Since I've seen all three I can't come close to agreeing with yousection(105) wrote: ↑5 years ago.......I will take some incoming here, but maybe ours......bring back the old one please.....

Yeah I think PC has added a secondary mascot, only because I remember a contest to name it. One of the options was Dog Shammdog.theblueram wrote: ↑5 years agoThought I saw a dalmation against SH. 7852 for their prime time game for a team expected to win the league. Soft. Capacity is 10,600.

Have you considered that that’s on them for coming up with their own take about what the next job would be instead of considering what he wants? Again, I understand if people disagree with his decision, that that is not how they see it, but it makes sense for him.

Don’t forget Saint Louis University is located in a city with over 300k and in Metropolitan area with 3 million. Where is URI located again? I would love to see URI sell out every home game, but it’s location doesn’t exactly help it pull in the causal fans.
