Re: BC recruit?
I honestly don't know much of him. I watched his dad a ton growing up but this is what i found on Herren jr

Also, besides BC, saw he had an offer from LIU Brooklyn, that was on 247

Re: BC recruit?
If I recall, Herren Jr. is an undersized 2 (at least in today's game where teams ideally have 6'5/6'6 wings) who has a knack for scoring the basketball but I don't see anything explosive or elite about his athleticism.

Re: BC recruit?
It seems that every Herren attends BC for some period of time.

Re: BC recruit?
The story says he signed a financial aid agreement....I think that is different from be granted a scholarship.....maybe he pays his own way with the ability to be awarded a scholarship later by earning it?

Sounds like a redshirt

Re: BC recruit?
I think because it's outside of an official signing period it had to be phrased this way
Take down the Robert Carothers banner and fix the concession stand lines

Re: BC recruit?
A financial aid agreement is the same thing as a scholarship.

Re: BC recruit?
The right comparison is between grant-in-aid paperwork (financial aid agreement) and a LOI, not a scholarship. Grant-in-aid paperwork differs from a LOI in that it binds only the school to the player, but does not bind the player to the school like a LOI does.
My suspicion is that Jermaine Harris only signed grant-in-aid paperwork (it doesn't matter now that he is enrolled in school, so relax), and there was a lot of conflicting information about his status thrown around during the period from when Hurley resigned and when Cox was hired. Different people insisted both that he had and had not signed a LOI, and I think the confusion was over the fact that he had signed something, but it wasn't a LOI, and people do not really understand or talk about grant-in-aid paperwork.

Re: BC recruit?
Not sure it matters between the two because it is common practice for a team to grant a release from the NLOI if the player request it. We were on both sides of that this year with Adams and Omar.

Re: BC recruit?
Sure, usually you get a release. If you’re the player, though, wouldn’t you rather have the sure thing? Usually a team plays the back end of a home and home. You just never know.

Re: BC recruit?
Chris came to BC as a walk-on in September. Now he is starting. And yesterday, this happened. So happy for him. Looks like he's very popular with his teammates.

That’s cool. But he should get a bag with whatever gear everyone else got, too. Secure the bag for my man!

Former Rhode Island player (BC Head Coach Jim Christian URI-1988) gives Rhode Island resident (Portsmouth) Herren a scholarship.

Re: BC recruit?
Didn’t he enroll a year early too? Pretty sure he still could have stayed in prep school for his post grad year.
