Re: 12/16 West Virginia @ Mohegan Sun
Great job by the team today.
Would've been easy for a young team to let the officials get in their heads and they didn't.
Showed a lot of heart and toughness gutting it out against a good team and adversity.
Hell of a building block game.
And Cyril is going to annihilate the A10

And that's how we do it! This team is getting better and better!! All the haters can take this win and eat it. This team has potential and so does this coach.

Well they lost one I expected them to win (Stonybrook) and now they won a game I thought they’d lose. Fun game despite the fouls

Nice W by a young team. Less TO than WV is impressive.

Very impressive win! The passing was great. The freshman are ready to go. The team played hard and took care of the ball. I doubt opponents will play uptempo against URI in the future.

Breakout game for this team. Great distribution on O and D. Free throws...meh. But otherwise, very well-balanced. Bring on the A-10!
Mobley was fouled.

Exciting win for this team. They seem like a close group. Played really hard. The coaches/players efforts are showing through.

Same although I'm not sure WVU's as good of a team this year as most expected. Still a nice win and will give us some more confidence going into Hawaii.

Great win! Love the positivity from the fan base.. but act as if. Stop jumping off a bridge when we don’t win by 20 pr if we struggle for a game. This team has some talent when you know what you are looking at! Ive been lurking for years and i hate the snap judgements.

Great win. Happy for the team. They showed discipline and resolve in the second half. Still have a lot of work to do. #GoRhodyBleedBlue87 wrote: ↑5 years agoHow's that win taste? Not Mike Powell wrote: ↑5 years ago No basketball IQ, Bad mannerisms, Poor Fundamentals, Lack of Discipline. 17 assists to 9 turnovers
17 assists on 29 made baskets.
Big time numbers against a team that always has a Top 50 defense. Lots of good things starting to happen with Harris and Martin and it’s having a trickle down effect. Offense has looked much more purposeful and fluid last couple games. Guys learning roles and spots on the floor.

Just got home. What a nice win for Rhody.
On a different note. That arena is great for URI. Place was rocking with Rhody fans. I am 100% for playing at least one game a year there especially when the students are not on campus

Great win for these guys! It was good to see the fan base make the trip and be loud.
Probably the worst officiating I have ever seen, however, at least they were consistently bad for both teams.
Every game these guys seem to get better and better

.......just got home, liked what I saw today from the freshmen that are coming on.....still a bit loose at times,.....difficult keeping Harris on the floor......some of the most bizarro calls from officials, lots of off the ball calls......Whatta gonna do with a Fatts?......nothing, let him chuck threes off the mark, just make dam sure he dishes to others on some of those drives......the T on the coach was awful, coulda been a five point deal......neva go for the T with possession.....didN’t read all posts yet, I am sure this was discussed, in the seasons A-10 we could do very well.....Go Rhody......

What an event, the Alumni pregame was great and packed, jsut the fan boost we needed. Fantastic win today against a real solid WVU team. This may be the upswing we all hoped for. Worst offiacting I've ever seen. Pace of play in the first half was dimsal but improved. All the guys showed improvments today minus some missed layous and technical fouls. Feeling great after today about this team. GO RAMS

Nice win! And I was very happy with my seats behind the Rhody bench as well. First half was hard to watch, guess the refs wanted tv time. Second half the team played real tough, WVU tried to out muscle them but the Rams were not having it. Let's see this type of play through the end of OOC. Continuous improvements all the way.

Re: 12/16 West Virginia @ Mohegan Sun
Despite the weakest fan ejection I’ve ever been subject to - that was a beautiful win.
Despite shooting woes, free throw issues, a terribly called game, and a really tough press Virginia defense - we showed we belong.
This is a young team with so much potential - I can’t even explain how exciting it will be to watch this team in March.

I thought for the most part URI did a really nice job breaking a pretty tough press. Dowtin is so good in that situation.

Re: 12/16 West Virginia @ Mohegan Sun
Second straight game away from home that Rhody took over on a big run to close out the game. Glad I was at both to see. It seems they may actually be coming together now with more games played. Great atmosphere and another big URI crowd at Mohegan Sun. We have now beaten Oklahoma State, Cincinnati, and West Virginia there. Two losses in a bad year to Seton Hall and Ohio State and the loss two years ago to Duke. Not too bad to have a 3-3 record there considering the higher profile competition we have played.

Re: 12/16 West Virginia @ Mohegan Sun
Great game. Enjoyed being there. The team is developing to where I thought they would be.
Five players in double figures is awesome. The best signs - 17 assist to 9 turnovers. Pushing the ball and penetration.
Rhody is going to have to score a lot on penetration. Even with Cyril, Harris and Thompson foul trouble in the first half and Harris fouling out early in the second, the rotation is really down to seven players. The four returning players are going to get a boat load of time. Harris is really developing. He will learn from the fouls today. As his minutes go up I can see him as a double double guy also.
There is still room for improvement in FG shooting and FT shooting (get to 70%). They missed many layups and the outside shooting % was very low.
One ref made more than 60% of the calls. The refs were horrible. URI adjusted to the refs the last 11 minutes.

They said on TV that this ref crew was a Final Four crew. Could've fooled me...
I agree URI did adjust well. Very poor reffing I thought, for both sides. At least they were consistent.
Mobley was fouled.

Re: 12/16 West Virginia @ Mohegan Sun
Jermaine Harris had a really good game today seeing a lot of time in the first half. 4-6 from the field and 3-4 from the line for 11 points. Just needs to work on fouling less.
URI as a team needs to do a bit better job keeping their emotion in check. While it can be fuel to energize them, too much can hurt. Several techs (4) today. Fortunately, it did not burn us on this day.

Re: 12/16 West Virginia @ Mohegan Sun
My observations:
1) heard a familiar voice from across the court yelling at the refs in the first half. didn't have to see him to know who it was. picked out blue man early in the first half....then not again. damn dude...i hope you got your money's worth at the black jack table.
2) despite the empty seats, that crowd was louder in the second half than the RC has been all year.
3) definitely some poor officiating. missed some calls and made some bad calls, but i believe the total number of fouls was less on the officials and more just because the game was fast and physical. can't totally blame the refs for the volume of calls. the play was chippy and things could have been real bad.
4) dowtin was flat out OUTSTANDING today.
5) great to see fatts much more under control. he still needs to be much more selective with his threes, but he was much more under control with his penetration.
6) 17 assts---most of which led to easy baskets!!!
7) there has been a lot of talk about our shooting woes. it's about time our defense got equal air time. held them to 24 points in the 2nd half. the D has been pretty impressive for the better part of the year to date.

Obviously not sour grapes since we won the game: that was the worst officiated game I’ve ever seen at any level. Not hyperbole. Specifically, the one with the widow’s peak. If you told me that was his first game, I’d believe you.

Re: 12/16 West Virginia @ Mohegan Sun
The worst ref out of the three was Doug Sirmons. Shockingly, he's had his fair share of criticism. He has been buried on Twitter by various coaches in the past and most famously is the guy that tossed Calipari two years ago, 2:30 into a game. Calipari had to be held back by his team. You would think the NCAA would be thinning this guy out and not sending him to the Final Four.TruePoint wrote: ↑5 years agoObviously not sour grapes since we won the game: that was the worst officiated game I’ve ever seen at any level.
