Re: 11/16 Harvard
I hope we get great fan support Friday for this young team. Concerned about student attendance because so many of them go home on weekends. Hopefully with the short week next week for Thanksgiving they hang around this weekend.

Re: 11/16 Harvard
They need to get out of the gate fast as they did against Bryant to shake off the road loss . hope we see the shooting return to
something resembling more the Bryant game as well . it may take another 5 or 6 games to get any true read on what this team has .
very hard to judge after their first road game . In the past they usually had 3 or 4 home games before they hit the road especially when
they had younger players filling major roles. It should be remembered that in reality there is no true 4 year player senior leadership .Three
juniors and a soph are leading this group and only one of the four started. A win in this one would be a big step forward.

Re: 11/16 Harvard
It is easier to shoot with confidence when your team is ahead.
URI needs for Harris to play aggressive while staying out of foul trouble.
Here's hoping Fatts Russell doesn't morph into Fatts Richmond.
I'm not seeing our defense as aggressive as in the past. We need to be more disruptive, create more turnovers and force more bad shots.

Re: 11/16 Harvard
All true 72, but if we play too aggressively on defense....not sure our freshmen would stay on the court too long before getting in foul trouble.
As they gain confidence, then they can play more in your face defense.
Going to take time.

Re: 11/16 Harvard
I dont think it's possible for us to shoot any worse than we did in Charleston.
At least I hope not...
If Cyril, Dowtin and Fatts all play well we win.
We might need all three to play lights out if we are to beat anybody good until the freshmen get up to speed.

Re: 11/16 Harvard
Are Aiken and Towns still out?
Hopefully a home crowd and familiar rims helps them settle in. The team needs to have really short memories- easier for players who have already done it at this level, more difficult for freshmen.
With Fatts, I’m anxious to see him continue to adjust to being a primary target of the defense’s game plan. He’s not going to sneak up on anybody this season. He’s going to have to work hard to get the shots he wants, not the ones the defense is giving him.

Re: 11/16 Harvard
Would hope we get a nice crowd tonight, would be good to see 6K as this young team really can use the support of Rhody nation.
I'll be starting my trek up 95 shortly and hope all of KB will be there to represent. Go Rhody!

Re: 11/16 Harvard
Both Aiken and Towns are out. You get the feeling that this Harvard team is going to be very good when they get them back and probably an NCAA team from the Ivy. The spread is URI-4. Probably would have been -1 or I Pickem if both played. Tough game tonight. Need the freshman to get some confidence in their heads.ace wrote: ↑5 years ago Are Aiken and Towns still out?

Re: 11/16 Harvard
Aiken and Towns were out against Umass.
Cant find anything about their status for tonight.
Their Forward Chris Lewis really took it to UMass.
We should be able to capitalize on a weakened Harvard team, but they are still pretty good without those guys.

Re: 11/16 Harvard
72, with respect to Harris, I think he may have the opposite issue. I’ve been thinking he needs to settle down and let the game come to him. Looks to me like he’s been too sped up. Rooting like heck for the kid to start feeling comfortable. Also want to see Tate get more of a chance. Still not sure why we didn’t see him vs Charleston.Rhody72 wrote: ↑5 years ago It is easier to shoot with confidence when your team is ahead.

Re: 11/16 Harvard
I can see a ton of potential in Harris, he was doing great on the boards. Attacked the rim well but was denied. Get him more touches and you'll get a better chance to judge him.

Re: 11/16 Harvard
Fatts playing much more controlled basketball. Not forcing it, allowing the game to come to him. This is what I like to see from him. When they play him man, it’s a mismatch, he’s too fast.

Re: 11/16 Harvard
Right? Like I know the kid wasnt trying to do anything there, but hell now I feel like we should have someone always play defense with a shoe in their hands and when someone has an open 3 you just throw it on the ground!

Re: 11/16 Harvard
Cyril is a real enigma, capable of looking like the best and worst player on the floor in a matter of minutes, still need him on the floor.
Shooting and ball movement are much better, would like us to be able to exploit their interior especially when Lewis went to the bench with 2 fouls.
Our overplaying on the perimeter led to 3 easy baskets and the backdoor play on Christion. Still need to get Harris involved, best freshman so far has been Martin. Going to be an interesting 2nd half.

BTW, I don’t want him to be injured...I’m just looking for a reason why he keeps missing layups that any decent ymca weekend warrior would make.

Steve and Don and the radio said Jermaine has no lift, that even on his dunk, he barely got I over the rim. They're wondering if he has a knee problem.

Didn’t he miss most of the preseason with an injury? Must not be 100%. Maybe they should shut him down.
