Re: 11/13 | at Charleston | 7PM
I don't think anyone should be surprised by this performance. First game on the road for a lot of guys. Fatts is a hot and cold player, just ice-cold so far. This season is going to require lots of patience from the fan-base. Some of the pre-season predictions were WAAAAAAAAAYYYYY too optimistic IMO. Road OOC games, and Conference games are going to all be tough.

NCAA or Bust is the goal.RamStock wrote: ↑5 years ago Awful first half. I wouldn’t go as far as to say it was worse than St.Joes because this team isn’t nearly as good as the URI team last year. There will be many more up and downs all year. I think the goal is to get better for the end of the year and compete for a bid at the A-10 tourney.

2 assists in the half. That might be a record.

The good thing about a hot/cold player is he could get hot at any time and there’s still a 2nd half. Keep playing tough D. Take away the free throws, and Charleston will have a tough time scoring.

Re: 11/13 | at Charleston | 7PM
New season, hope everyone is well. First half observations...
Positives:
- Umm, they're playing hard I guess. Haha. Rebounding well for the most part.
Negatives:
- Freshmen doing freshmen things. Poor Harris. He's putting himself in good position on the offensive end but almost everything seems to be in-between finessing it or throwing it down. Just throw it down big guy, use your length. Way too early to tell but at first glace he appears to be an emotional player that needs to be reeled in a bit when things aren't going well. And it hasn't gone well for him early on. Some silly fouls on the defensive end.
- Martin also can't buy a bucket (well to be fair no one can) but seems to be the real deal.
- If we absolutely must shoot a 30-footer with the shot clock running down, I'd rather have Jeff take it than Fatts.
- Fatts is my guy, but he can't keep forcing the issue when he's cold like this. 1-9, 0-6 from 3.
- Too many missed free throws and silly turnovers.
Neutral:
- 0-13 from 3
- The 2nd half will show me a little something about Coach Cox early on. I don't have all of the stats in front of me, but I'm assuming CT was in early foul trouble? Otherwise where was he in the first half. He's a guy that can D up on the perimeter and settle down some of the freshmen.
- When we need a good possession, let everything run through Jeff. Unfortunately you can tell he doesn't really trust Harris yet on the screen and rolls and I don't blame him.
- We're going to have to get out of this hole by knocking down some 3's and eliminating easy looks for them. Might be too much of a task but let see what this young team is made of and who can start playing confident.
- CL has made massive improvements in his low-post game since his freshman year, but still travels at least once a game when his opponent pulls the chair on him.

Seems like most of their fans I can see are either sitting there with their arms crossed. Never heard a place so quiet that's up by (right now) 10 points.theblueram wrote: ↑5 years ago This Charleston team isn't really that good. We are just playing AWFUL!!!!

Re: 11/13 | at Charleston | 7PM
Down 16 five minutes into 2nd half. Get the bus warmed up. This game is over. Only question remaining is if Rhody can make the final score look respectable. I was expecting a loss in the first road game with an inexperienced team. I just never thought they would be this bad. This looks like it will be a bumpy ride season with many peaks and valleys. Not a surprise given all the change. Everyone will need patience.

Seeing some real positive things out of Tyrese Martin. Active rebounding on both ends of the floor. The team had to realize that we have other potential scorers (Cyril, Dowtin, Thompson, Martin) when Fatts' shots aren't falling.

Do the players understand their roles. Ryan Preston’s role is not to take 14 footers down the stretch.

Offensive sets take 10-15 seconds to develop, we do not have time to run sets, we need our scorers to score....quickly.
