Have him as #1 SF in Louisiana.
Pretty solid rating. Nice consolation for missing out on Dahmir. Might have a legit shot looking based off looking at his other offers.

Re: ‘19 LA SG - Gregory Hammond
I like this kid very much at this point in the recruiting period. He is a very under the radar player that has a ton of confidence. He is the type of player you see in the ncaa tournament playing at a Stephen F Austin or someone like that and beating the snot out of a power 5 program. This would be a pretty solid fallback for missing out on Bishop. Of the players left that we are recruiting I would rate them Walker, McLeod and Hammond. I’m not sure that we aren’t too late to be in on the recruiting unless we turn into the Xavier on this one and steal a commitment.Rhody83 wrote: ↑5 years ago Gregory Hammond - SG

Exactly. How did he find a picture that old and then call it Rhode Island University

Really good player.
He looks a legit 6'5" and might be a better shooter than Bishop at this stage.

The recruiting staff provides the pictures. The one from the PC game last year is getting a lot of play. A packed Ryan Center looks great. He recently visited Sam Houston State.

Re: ‘19 LA SG - Gregory Hammond
Yup you’re right. That makes a little more sense. I had the right uniform number, right era, but wrong year. I believe Dinno graduated the year before Bam arrived. Tough to see his face in that picture - kind of small and blurry.

This is Gregg’s younger brother Alex Hammond. He played varsity as an 8th grader. He is a 6’4” PG as an 8th grader. Class of 2022. Package deal .
This video is from his 8th grade travel team.

38% from the field and 26% from 3 for LA Supreme. Big rebound numbers for a 2 guard and good assist to turnover numbers (2.6 to 1.3). Looks like he had 2 horrible games back to back dragging those % down. SFA and LA Tech know how to find good players. I like him

Can’t speak to the numbers, but his shot looks good. Nice stroke, looks comfortable shooting it. The next potential recruit always gets a ton of love, but even still I like the cut if this kid’s jib. I hope we can get him up to campus for a visit.

His coach calls Dinno "my dawg" in a tweet, so there seems to be some kind of connection.

Re: ‘19 LA SG - Gregory Hammond
Dinno played 3 years at Cohen HS, then he transferred to West Jefferson HS where he averaged 19ppg, 6 rpg, then went to Memphis, then transferred to URI. Dinno was Player of the Year in New Orleans his Senior Year. His brother, Greedy Daniels went on to UNLV. They played together at Cohen.
Hammond plays for Wright Charter School which is only 9 miles driving from West Jefferson HS where Dinno played and only about 2 miles or less as the crow flies - as West Jefferson is in Harvey, just across the Mississippi River. Cohen High School, where Dinno played for 3 years is less than a mile from Wright Charter School where Hammond is currently playing.

It looks like Ty is in New Orleans now from his Instagram account. It sounds like he must be meeting with Hammond today. I would sign up for Hammond and McLeod if we can’t get Walker. The staff has definetly spent money and time on recruiting this year.

I know. I was just responding to DC when he said two states 8-10 hours apart in one day. They must be really be pushing to get one of these guys signed up before the end of the month. It may come down who is willing to commit first rather than leaving open scholarships if McLeod is going to push this until at least the end of October with his FSU visit. Still think he will get him.

Lol, I know it was by plane, it’s just a lot of miles to cover in a day.

Re: ‘19 LA SG - Gregory Hammond
I agree about level of play in Louisiana. Rhody is judging him based on his performance in July with his AAU team Louisiana Supreme. They played in AAU Gauntlet in NYC (I believe they beat K Low/Bishop), I am not sure where they played the second week, they played in Fab48 in Vegas the last week. I know the Rhody coaches saw him in NYC and Vegas.
Hammond lead the team in scoring in the Adidas Gsuntlet series with 12.6 ppg, second in Rebs with 6.1 & first in assist with 2.6. That was over 10 games.

What I don’t doubt is their excellent mascots. I’ll never forget reading an article where Layssard’s team matched up against the Wampus Cats.Iggy1979 wrote: ↑5 years agoBased on recent history I have doubts about level of play in La.DC_Rams wrote: ↑5 years ago https://247sports.com/Player/Gregory-Hammond-46055171/

Re: ‘19 LA SG - Gregory Hammond
Having made the trip to NOLA many, many times, it can definitely be a hassle as there is a serious lack of direct flights to that airport from the northeast.

Re: ‘19 LA SG - Gregory Hammond
Coach Cox and Boswell had an in home visit with Hammond on Monday.
Hammond is the cousin of Dino Daniexls. Dino was at the in home visit. Dino spoke very highly of his time at URI.
Hammond’s father was with the coaches the entire time. The father wants to get the kid out of the South.
They also watched Hammond play at an open gym time.
Hammond is coming for an official visit next Weds-Fri (Oct 3-5).

Re: ‘19 LA SG - Gregory Hammond
Ty Boswell loves this kid. As Rhody83 mentioned Dino Daniels plays an important part into the recruitment of him going to URI. The staff feels that he is very underrated and mentioned that he is the number one ranked player in Louisisna again. I think there is a very good chance that he ends up at URI.Rhody83 wrote: ↑5 years ago Coach Cox and Boswell had an in home visit with Hammond on Monday.

Re: ‘19 LA SG - Gregory Hammond
Would love to see Hammond at URI. Dinno being his cousin is very good news. Dinno was a solid player for URI, and he was disappointed with his initial career at Memphis. Atlantic 10 and URI would be a good fit for Hammond.RamStock wrote: ↑5 years agoTy Boswell loves this kid. Ty also loves Mading and they aren’t signing them both unless the plan for the top recruits falls apart.RamStock wrote: ↑5 years agoTy Boswell loves this kid. The question is who does Coach Cox like more Hammond or Mading.
I say Hammond fills the recruiting spot they had for Bishop.

Re: ‘19 LA SG - Gregory Hammond
I agree on Hammond. It is highly doubtful they sign both Mading and Hammond. It would be one of these two along with Walker or McLeod. If we ever get lucky enough to get Walker and McLeod they would add Hammond/Mading if we think another spot will open up after next year.Rhody83 wrote: ↑5 years agoTy also loves Mading and they aren’t signing them both unless the plan for the top recruits falls apart.RamStock wrote: ↑5 years agoTy Boswell loves this kid. I'd much rather have Hammond than Mading. Not even close for me.
