Cyril needs to go for 10P/8R and 30 minutes a game consistently for us to win.

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
I agree with the points and rebounds. He isn’t going to avg 30 minutes/game. Hass never avg 30 mins/game in any of his 4 years and the roster wasn’t as deep as it is now. Bigmen avg less than the Gs. Fouls and the grind underneath for the Bigs leads to reduced minutes. I would think 25 mins/game for Cyril would be good.

I agree on that lineup.
CT first off bench.
Tate, Preston, Silverio, Tertsea battling for remaining minutes. Not experienced, not overly deep at any position. Lots of young talent.

If we start 2 freshmen, no matter how good they are, we’ll be taking some lumps early on. Let’s hope they’re quick learners.

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
This is a team, and season, you play for the conference schedule and being better in February. Yes we may take some lumps, lay some eggs, or get punched in the face. But the upside of that is come Jan/Feb the kids will be battle tested and the game will start slowing down. The ceiling is only reached if guys like Martin and Harris are big contributors, might as well start from day 1.

You are spot on! The goal is to get the kids minutes and experience so we have a shot in A-10 and more importantly 2019-20bigappleram wrote: ↑6 years ago This is a team, and season, you play for the conference schedule and being better in February. Yeah I like that lineup as well . I think Tyrese is a more natural scorer that we can use starting out games
I like the energy that CT woukd bring first off the bench.

i think we will be good this year, and when we look back a big reason will be Tate. Just a feeling that he is going to be really solid and consistent.

I see Tate and Silverio as glue guys......giving you a hard 10-15 minutes a game grinding away.....I see Harris and Martin as future All A10 types....as for Aris I will withhold judgment until I see him play myself.....that's my view of the freshmen

I agree also. They should be alright with Tate, Silverio and Thompson off the bench. Keep getting these guys minutes and experience, add some good recruits for next year and the 2019-20 team with everyone back should be a real fun team. They will be have some ups and downs this year, but will be fun to watch.

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
I see Dana as a " Bonzie Colson" type. 6-7 225-230 and strong. Could be too strong for a lot of 3's
and too quick for most 4's. Pretty good handle based on vids, decent mid range game and
strong to the basket. More than just a glue guy. If this class lives up to it's potential it's
going to be hard to find enough minutes for everybody.

I don’t see Bonzie, I’d feel more appropriate archetype would be Andre Samuel? Undersized 3/4 hybrid, good rebounder, scorer, tough.

I meant Bonzie the son, not our Bonzie.
Andre Samuel works for me as well.
I’d be happy if Dana turns out to be Andre.
BTW your dating yourself if you remember Andre!

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
I read a post somewhere (it could be under recruiting) that Tyrese was a slasher and not a shooter. This video of his game against Cam Reddish has been posted before. Take a look at how many outside shoots he hits in this game. He can shoot.

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
Tyrese may be talented, but he's a freshman and lacks experience, so I don't see him starting over Thompson. Thompson also brings great defense...or at least that's what he showed when he played prior to his injury. I think Tyrese ends up playing a role similar to the one that Fatts played off the bench last year. He'll still get good minutes, but I don't feel he'll be a starter. We'll see...
Looking forward to a good season of Rhody basketball after hopefully a great season of Rhody football!

Tyrese will get way more minutes than Fatts did last year just based on the fact that Fatts had Jeff, EC, Terrell and Jarvis ahead of him. I believe Tyrese will start.

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
On bodies alone, I would’ve thought Tate would be a nod at the 3.
CT, Tate, and if silverio is anything like he was at Rucker against terry rozier....we have an extremely solid 8 man rotation. Preston makes 9 and I think we’re all going to be happy come March.

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
Jeff and Cyril have been on two teams that won an A-10 Championship and a regular season title. Plus two NCAAT wins. Fatts was in on the second with a win in the NCAAT. We have a top 40 class coming in this year. We have giants on the bench who might contribute. Can't wait. I don't care who starts. They better be ready.

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
I see CT as a starter ,at least early on because of his experience. If you start Martin and Harris you are starting Two freshmen . No matter how talented they are they are going to make freshmen mistakes. Those mistakes at critical times result in losses. The price you pay for playing freshmen. It’s what happens when you
Graduate 2/3 rd’s of your rotation. The freshmen need significant minutes for success going forward but we will take some lumps along the way, it’s unavoidable. By the end of this season I am positive they will be ready for big things. It’s a question how costly the dues are to get there!

I agree completely. It was also lead to much improvement for the 2019-20 team that could be very good. Although we are thin this is great for getting Martin, Harris, Tate and Silverio needed time.

Some press for Harris. Top 10 mid major recruit list. Comes in at #6.

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
You might be right about that, but I also see many people saying how good he is in a video that looks to be against poor competition. Hopefully he turns out to have some value for the team in the future. It is just tough to see so many teams getting commitments from recruits every day and than we get someone that isn’t ranked and no one has ever heard of from Greece with stats that looked pretty poor. I guess we should wait and see. I just hope there wasn’t a situation where we could have gotten Walker, McLeod and Hammond. Let’s see how Sutton does with the this one.TruePoint wrote: ↑6 years agoI don’t know how anyone can form an opinion on Aris at this point, one way or the other.

Omar is in a walking boot. Posted on IG that he is out for a couple of weeks. Tough setback when you are a Fr and full practices start next week. Will probably impact his playing time in Nov & Dec.

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
From what I’m hearing, most expect the below starting line up?
G - Fatts 5’10
G - Dowtin 6’3
F - Martin 6’6
F - Harris 6’8
F - Langevine 6’8
Top G Reserves: Thompson 6’4, Silverio 6’4
Top F Reserves: Tate 6’7, Preston 6’7
Although we’re young, I think this team has the potential to our perform expectations. This is a good nine man rotation.

Why does it need to be a consistent 3rd scorer?
I think it would come from the five starters but Martin, Cyril & Harris are all capable of avg 10 ppg.

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
It doesn’t need to be the same guy every night, but we have to have a 3rd legitimate scoring threat to beat good teams. Relying on FR for that is always tenuous - so it would be better if Cyril can be 10 and 8 every night, and the FR can slowly find their footing and play their role. Cyril has that potential but hasn’t had to carry that load yet in his career.

Re: 2018-2019 Rotation
The starting five scoring avg the last 4 years
2014-15 52 ppg - 2 players avg double figures
2015-16 60 ppg - 4 players avg double figures (Four McGlyn avg 11.6)
2016-17 57 ppg - 3 players avg double figues
2017-18 58 ppg - 2 players avg double figures
You could say the 15-16 team was the most disappointing team in the last four years.
