Should be up and running on October 1st if the original timeline still holds.
Take down the Robert Carothers banner and fix the concession stand lines

I assume you won’t be able to bet on URI at sports books in RI, right?

I believe that is correct, if the article linked below is to be believed.TruePoint wrote:I assume you won’t be able to bet on URI at sports books in RI, right?
The bill prohibits betting on:
…any collegiate sports or athletic event that takes place in Rhode Island or a sports contest or athletic event in which any Rhode Island college team participates, regardless of where the event takes place.

Which is fine by me. Any time I bet on a team for which I have a rooting interest, it usually ends with me losing my money. I usually do the opening rounds of the tourney in Vegas, but S16 and E8 at Wicked Good Bar sounds nice to me until the mobile apps are up and running.

It sounds like next week for the beginning of sports betting at the RI casinos. Nothing reported locally but I heard it on WEEI this morning and the Globe has an article as well (I'm out of free clicks on that site).

Mods, what even is this post? 6 years after my post we get this odd response from a new poster which comes across as some AI/bot nonsense. For more details I can refer to the articles I linked? LolAnnefnd wrote: ↑1 week agoYes, your understanding aligns with the information provided in the linked articles. The legislation in Rhode Island prohibits betting on any collegiate sports or athletic events that take place within the state or involve Rhode Island college teams, regardless of where the events are held. This means that while sports betting is allowed, it has specific restrictions to protect collegiate sports within the state and those involving Rhode Island teams.STC wrote: ↑6 years agoI believe that is correct, if the article linked below is to be believed.TruePoint wrote:I assume you won’t be able to bet on URI at sports books in RI, right?
