KINGSTON, R.I. - Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is expected to participate in Rhode Island's Elite Showcase Camp at Meade Stadium on Thursday, June 7.
It has previously been announced that members of the Wolverine coaching staff would be assisting Rhode Island head coach Jim Fleming and his staff at the camp. The addition of Harbaugh has elevated the profile of next week's camp. Entering his fourth season at Michigan, Harbaugh is 28-11 overall and 18-8 in the Big Ten, including three bowl appearances. Harbaugh has five bowl appearances as a head coach in his career, including two appearances in the Orange Bowl (2010 with Stanford, 2016 with Michigan) and one Citrus Bowl appearance (2015 with Michigan). He also was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-14, reaching Super Bowl XLVII in 2012 and making trips to the NFC Championship game two other years. He was honored with the Woody Hayes Trophy as college football's Coach of the Year in 2010, and a year later he was the NFL Coach of the Year. As a player, Harbaugh had a 14-year career as a quarterback in the NFL after being selected in the first round of the 1987 draft.
Also coming from Michigan to participate in the camp will be defensive coordinator Don Brown, offensive line coach Ed Warinner, safeties coach Chris Partridge, quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton, cornerbacks coach Mike Zordich, tight ends coach Sherrone Moore and assistants Jordan Kovacs and Patrick Kugler. Together with the Rhode Island staff they will be providing instruction and guidance for camp attendees. The one-day elite showcase is open to to all students who are entering grades 9 through 12 in the fall of 2018. Athletes will participate in a host of competitive, position-specific drills designed to advance their high school careers and beyond.
Current Rhode Island players will also be in attendance, providing campers with instruction and tips to build their confidence and football knowledge.
Check-in for the camp begins at 4 p.m. in the lobby in front of Keaney Gymnasium. The camp runs from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Meade Stadium.

Wonder what he will think of Meade compared to the Big House?

So who is the Rhode Islander high school player that Harbaugh is trying to get face time with?

He’s been recruiting the Truss kid from Hendi but so isn’t every other Top 10 school. However he broke his foot my son heard a couple weeks ago doing the shot put. My son(who doesn’t go to Hendi) is going to the camp next week. He’s just a freshman but is excited for even just a glimpse of Harbaugh & Brown in person. I on the other hand am hoping this partnership turns into a pay game next season. I’d go watch Rhody in the Big House get slaughtered.

Xavier Truss is a junior (soon to be senior) who saw his recruitment blow up after the All-American Combine in January. He's blown up into a borderline Top 100 recruit, with offers from Michigan, Ohio St., Penn St., Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida St., Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, USC, Virginia Tech, and Florida, with various other schools having offered. I know Harbaugh and Urban Meyer have both personally visited Truss at Hendricken in the last few months.TruePoint wrote:So who is the Rhode Islander high school player that Harbaugh is trying to get face time with?
Kwity Paye (Hendricken) will be a sophomore at Michigan next year, but was not nearly as accomplished as Truss.

This speaks to the increase of talent showing up on the football field.
As far as Mich. eyeing playing Rhody-it's no wonder they can't beat Ohio State!!
(if that's their goal). The Flemings could go 8-5 with Harbaugh's talent!!
Maybe Gansett can give Harbaugh some ideas!!

Great publicity, but hope he takes well to the facilities. Begin with the Ryan Center to ease him in. We'll have another banner as you all know.
