I find this line extremely interesting.
Is the road game for us to close out the season at Davidson a "trap game?" Not sure why the Bonnies would only be a 2.5 point favorite hosting Davidson on senior night?

Re: Week #17 - Games of Interest
This game is extremely important for both teams. Davidson clinches 2nd place with a win as they've already beaten SBU head to head. If SBU wins, then it gives them the leg up on 2nd, but Davidson still could reclaim 2nd with a loss, followed by a win vs. us, and a loss by SBU in their finally (and maybe some other help. It's complicated). I'm not surprised it's a low spread.Keatgsr07 wrote:I find this line extremely interesting.

After a bad foul call, to which the fans reacted with a "Bull-sh--, bull-shi--" chant, Buzz Peterson just grabbed a mic and told the crowd, "Quit cussin'"...for some reason, I can't see DH doing that...not that there's anything wrong with that....

I personally love the intensity of the whole Hurley clan! Only when I felt Dan's frustration with the officiating was taking away from precious coaching moments and further rattling his young team did I feel it needed to be toned down. Going after the officials = awesome!

Re: Week #17 - Games of Interest
I don't agree with sports leagues going above and beyond to coddle referees and insulate them from criticism. Referees suck sometimes. Why don't they have to hear about it? Especially when they screw up and are arrogant about it, or worse when they get retribution against players or coaches with their whistles - which they definitely do. If a coach wants to yell at you, you probably deserve it. And if you don't like it, consider being better at your job or find a new one.

Dicky V doing Texas vs Kansas game. He makes a big statement after KU player hits a three, “I like shooters who when they take a shot it has a chance of going in”. I kid you not.
He also thinks every team he does a game for should be in the tournament. His field must be up to 80 teams. Tonight he said Texas should be in. Retire Dicky V.

Oh I prefer Dicky V over all of them.
More fun to watch when the guy has enthusiasm. Bilas just points out the short comings for 2 hours.
I thought his comment about shooters is funny. It is better to watch Jimmy Baron shoot than Darrell Harris. I agree.

Seriously, Obadiah, should URI be 17, or are you using the USA Today Coaches Poll for URI since it is higher?

Looks like Bonnies are going to pull out a win in triple ot. Davidson would have clinched the #2 seed with a win tonight. Would not have had as much at stake on Friday vs URI. The Rhody game will now still have a lot of importance for them as they have seeding position still at stake.

After tonight's action, St. Joes and St. Louis in a 2 way tie for 4th. St. Louis won the only head to head game so they have the tie breaker, but they have the tougher last game with St. Bonnies at home, while St Joe's hosts LaSalle. Assuming St. Bonnies and St. Joes both win, SJU will be the 4 seed. Guess who we would likely play 2nd round in the A10 tourney...

Ian Boyd had yet another buzzer beater for the win. VCU turned it over with 17 secs left, and Boyd's tip in after a miss won it. GM is tied for 4th and currently has the 4th seed with whatever tie breaker they own over SJU and SLU.

George Mason is actually tied with them. 3 way tie for 4th. I'm assuming the tie breaker is head to head. They beat SJU twice and beat SLU in their only meeting with them. 3-0 against them. I'm just not sure if head to head is always the first tie breaker in a more than 2 way tie, or perhaps that's if team A beats B, B beats C and C beats A.RhodyRam86 wrote:After tonight's action, St. Joes and St. Louis in a 2 way tie for 4th. Over. Nova hangs on, wins 69-68 in OT. Nova had a 66-59 lead under a minute left and nearly coughed it up. SH was fouled with 1 sec left just before a last second 3 pt attempt down 3. Made the first, tried to miss the 2nd and it went in anyway.

i'm not entirely sure there. if they beat St Johns and lose game 1 of the BE tourney I think they're in trouble. And definitely would become huge fans of all lower conference tourney favorites.reef wrote:Pc gets St. John's at home so that may seal up a berth with a win ???
I think they need 2 more wins to feel confident and 3 to erase any doubt

Re: Week #17 - Games of Interest
They play in a conference that, rightly or not, a .500 or better record gets you in.
We will never be in that situation.
Why do people think Archie Miller left Dayton? Not so much for the money, he was making 2+ million at Dayton....
Tough to recruit there even with that arena....2 years ago they should have been a 7 seed and they barely made the tournament....
Will be interesting to see what happens with our seeding....if we get the stiff job what will Dan be thinking?
I don't mean getting left out entirely just to be clear....but what if we get say a 10 even if we finish well?
Assume nothing....with Kenpom at 48 that gives the committee an opportunity to bone us.

If the Bonnies win the A10 tourney they will get a better seed than we will. Book it.
Their numbers are just about as good as ours now.

Re: Week #17 - Games of Interest
let's be fair here...if we had two wins vs. top 5 in the country and sprinkled in a couple other nice wins, most on this board would be incredulous to be left out. we would be complaining about the other team in the state and asking why they should get in with beating only a couple lower tier quadrant 1 teams all the while discounting bad losses. And on top of that the other team in the state has 2 wins against top 100 teams in their conference and only 5 total. not saying this would be your take ECR...I'm just confident that would be the overriding take on this board.ElmCityRhody wrote:assuming st john's win..
must be nice to be 19-12 and 10-8 and consider in the tourney by msot ppl
TUDE !
my goodness.. so you beat a couple of top teams in the conference..
it's conference play and certainly not any "major upset"..
and their OOC schedule wasn't anything special
whatever...
