Re: '20 MA SG - Demarr Langford Jr.
https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com ... -takeawaysThe younger brother of Providence freshman guard Makai Ashton-Langford, while the former top-50 guard was known for his downhill abilities with the basketball, his sibling is more of an explosive athlete that can be groomed into a lockdown wing defender. Holding a lone offer from Iona at this point in time, Demarr Langford takes pride in doing many of the smaller things for his Putnam Science Academy squad. Showcasing a college ready frame but just a sophomore in high school, Langford is far from a finished product but it does look as if he’s more than capable of being included within the Rivals150 in the years ahead.

I love that photo of the Ryan Center. Wish I could find the whole thing. Helps with marketing our program though!

We know PC has no chance at the younger Langford. Does URI have a shot?

UConn involved.

Do you think there was an agreement between Cox and Hurley not to recruit the same players for some period of time?
I don't know how these breakups work.

Re: '20 MA SG - Demarr Langford Jr. (Offer)
No. People weirdly bring that up with Dan and Bob, too. There’s going to be overlap in targets, especially being in the same geographical area. If you’ve been to games or recruiting events, you’d see Dan, Dave, and Ty often sitting together, but personal relationships have little to do with recruiting. Guys will share information, though, if it doesn’t hurt them and can help someone they’re cool with.rhodyblue12 wrote: ↑5 years ago Do you think there was an agreement between Cox and Hurley not to recruit the same players for some period of time?

There was briefly a mention somewhere of Langford moving to ‘19, but that would seem unlikely unless he finds a perfect match.

Hurley recruited Brendan Adams while he was signed to URI, I think we know there's no agreement.

Re: '20 MA SG - Demarr Langford Jr. (Offer)
It's laughable to even think two head coaches would agree not to recruit the same players....
You think Hurley is saying "Oh David is recruiting a Top 100 player who plays in the same state that I coach in? Guess I can't recruit him..."
Gimme a break.

Re: '20 MA SG - Demarr Langford Jr. (Offer)
I guess you must be WAY smarter than I am.
When a coach gets out of a contract, I am sure there are stipulations - buyout clause, etc.
What I was wondering was if there was also some (unpublicized or even unwritten) agreements that certain kids are not going to be actively recruited by the outgoing coach. At a lower level - maybe even a "you have my word" agreement between Hurley and Cox about certain guys.
Can you really not imagine a discussion where Hurley says "I won't press on player X, but I know you weren't as sold on player Y and I'd like him"?
You know, a conversation between friends.
And I am not talking about going forward - just about guys that they may have both been involved with for URI.

Let's not take the Langford thread off track. We can move this to the General Recruiting thread if anyone has other inputs.

I can't see Hurley or Cox willingly dealing with Langford Sr.

Maybe Langford Sr will be offering a package deal of MAL and Demarr like LaVar Ball did (sarcasm).

He is uncommitted. Hearing there’s academic issues. New Mexico State is recruiting him I believe.
