Rhody recruiting class ranking down to 31st. Still some top prospects to sign that could push it down more. Still a great class.

Looking at the teams in the top 40 it is us and the top 6 conferences plus UCONN. Thirty-one looks fine to me.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
The impressive thing is that URI is the only A10 Team in the Top 40
Saturday will be interesting as Zion Williamson, #2 ESPN, will announce his commitment. Clemson could rise into the Top 40 if Williamson selects them. I am hoping he selects Clemson for the benefit of Antonio Reynolds-Dean who has been involved in the recruitment

does anyone have any information regarding the New England Prep Invitational which is held at RIC each year. It is usually around this time of year and I have not seen anything on it..

Thanks Billyboy. I always enjoy this tournament and putting faces to the many names we hear on the recruiting conversations.

With URI being the number 1 program in New England this year, Wonder how that impacts the NE prep school landscapes for Dan when he goes out recruiting. Obviously positive, but we’re does that move us in the mind of potential recruits and coaches in the perception landscape is the question.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
Went to NPSI today. Saw 4 games. I was sitting right behind Tyler Bertram's dad and Todd Quarles, the Expressions coach. Tyler's a very good player. Can shoot like hell. I'm not sure he's athletic enough to play defense as a guard in Dan's system. I'd like to see him again next year when he's a senior. Coach Quarles was talking to the dad about having Tyler come and work out for Expressions and he talked to Tyler about the same thing after Tyler's game. Nice player. Quarles said he's very interested in Tyler, looking for a knock down shooter. Ty Boswell was there for about an hour. Tom Moore was there when I got there at 1:30 and still there when I left at 7:00. Tyson Wheeler was there working too, smiling as always. I wasn't very impressed with some of the guys we might be involved with. Max Lorca can jump out of the building, but besides dunking the ball, didn't do much else. Got me thinking about Ryan Preston. Kareem Reid barely played for Putnam, didn't start and only played a few minutes. I thought he was pretty highly rated. Maybe something was wrong with him. Anthony Nelson was ok. Akok Akok is good though. I'm not sure if we're still involved with him. Anyway, I got my 5 1/2 hour fix of basketball today, because tomorrow, it's all about football!

I see BC has a highly regarded forward committed. It doenst look good that Notre Dame came in and signed 2/10 from Mass. and theyre front court guys.
Colson another MA guy.
What is up with Christian.
Edit: 2 out of the top 10 in Massachusetts.

Looks like Coach Ty is at Monroe Community College tonight to watch a game...assume he is looking at someone potentially for next year.
I have to think we go the 5th year or JC route with that last scholly and try to find a scorer to replace JT/EC.

I wonder what Munford would or a Munford-like player would look like on a team as talented as next year. Or in an established program.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
We will be talented but not overly experienced, with only 3 guys carrying over that have logged important minutes (Dowtin, Fatts, Cyril). Plenty of room for someone experienced who can fill it up, we know Dan is only going to look for certain types of players that will buy in and do things his way, so no concern of anyone disrupting chemistry or culture.

Except that Noah West plays for Monroe Community College, a school in greater Rochester, NY, that didn't play in New Rochelle, NY on Tuesday night.Billyboy78 wrote:http://www.mcctribunes.com/sports/mbkb/ ... _noah_tri4
There is also a Monroe College, located in New Rochelle, NY, that did play on Tuesday night which is where Ty Boswell was.
Seriously, look it up... there's a Monroe Community College and there's the Monroe College Mustangs. Two different schools.

Sorry for the confusion.
A juco would help balance out some of the classes.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
Three recruits at tonight’s game.
From Koch:
The Rams were expected to host a trio of recruits in 2019 small forward Tyler Burton and 2021 shooting guards Terrence Clarke and Alexis Reyes. Burton is a Connecticut native who preps at Marianapolis. Clarke and Reyes are both Boston natives, with Clarke projecting as a top-25 player in his class.
I believe Reyes tweeted tonight that he received an offer from URI.

If Rhody goes for a 5th year transfer or a JUCO, what position do you feel they should be looking for? Where do they need the most help next year?

He’s a scorer but seems to take a ton of shots to get those points. Good get for Dayton, I think. They had an in with him in coach Ricardo Greer.

This is completely random, but I just wanted to remind people how awesome this staff is at identifying talent. I remember how annoyed I was that some people on this board acted like Fatts wasn't on Mal's level before the season started...I'll say now what I said then.. I'D RATHER HAVE FATTS!

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
A bit too early to tell, especially bc MAL isn't getting much burn. That said, I have a hard time loving PGs that can't shoot it decently and MAL can't shoot. It is always a huge limitation at that position, limits the ceiling no matter how great a penetrator and passer you may be if you are not a threat from behind the line. I think his FT % is below 50%. That is not the best indicator of things to come.
