McDonald just said the news is encouraging about EC...obviously we'll know more tomorrow, but the hope is that it's not long term.
I don't think Golden purposely fouled EC - was going for a loose ball...But the refs absolutely should have called a foul on the play. It led to a free Richmond layup. Thankfully that didn't matter, but it was close at the time.
On to SBU.

Re: 2/13 | Richmond Spiders | 8:30PM (CBSSN)
We just keep getting better...
What a second half...we could have scored 100 if we continued to go full tilt all the way through.
We have so much fire power it's ridiculous. Cyril has come into his own. Fatts is over the wall. JG is feeling it.
JT is an NBA player out there. Stan does what he does and Berry does what he does. Dowtin is cool as a cucumber out there not making mistakes.
The guys being happy and relaxed at the end makes me feel like EC is gonna be okay.

Looks like Golden is now a Kingston punching bag. He's gonna hear it every time he plays here. Great game and great crowd. That 5 pass play ending in a Langevine dunk brought the house down!!!!

Another thing to add, it looked like Golden was talking to Hurley for a bit in the handshake line. It seemed obvious that Golden was apologizing or showing concern for Matthews and Hurley (if I'm reading lips) was saying, "don't worry about it" - thought it was pretty classy.

Stevie - I think Hurley initiated it based on how students treated him (im not opposed to such treatment) - classy moves on both sides. I also think Mooney asked for an update on EC.

Yes, it was actually Hurley who initiated the conversation, it was good to see, Hurley has grown so much as a coach right before our eyes and he showed tons of class in this particular moment.steviep123 wrote:Another thing to add, it looked like Golden was talking to Hurley for a bit in the handshake line. I'm very optimistic about EC after Dan's post game.
He came out and said it looks good and not serious. Coaches don't do that unless it's true.
That tells me no tear and no break. So probably out a game or 2

We are DEEP!
Cyril has turned the corner and become the player we saw against Oregon. This is the most impactful development in season.
Fatts has developed quickly for a Fr. He is a game changer now.
Jarvis has gained confidence in his role and has found his offense again. This is big.
JT has realized he is the leader and he is an NBA caliber player.

Now that we are ranked though a lot of times some random accounts will upload games.
If nothing else pops up I’ll have something up tomorrow hopefully.

this win now gives them:
1. an entire calendar year without losing an A10 game
2. have now beaten every other A10 team in that time

What a great play! It happened so fast I couldn't even remember all the passes. They really stepped up their level of play after EC went down. Langevine is becoming a beast in front of our eyes. Dowtin was superb tonight. Fatts is over the wall and playing really well. Jarvis played great too. Terrell his usual high level. Hope EC is OK. Didn't look good when it happened.

Re: 2/13 | Richmond Spiders | 8:30PM (CBSSN)
Maybe someone from the show watched the play? It should have been #1. The dunk was cool, but the thing about the play is that every guy on the floor touched it AND the ball never hit the floor. Plus the emphatic finish. That was basketball porn no matter who did it; that it was Rhody...it might be my favorite play of all time, as far as standalone basketball plays and not game winners and stuff.steviep123 wrote:Wow, what happened overnight that moved it up 3 spots from 6?cRAM4finals wrote:Fast break play was #3 this morning on ESPN top ten. DH has the A10 in the Cobra Clutch.
I didn't get into cheering for the Rams for the domination, but I will take it.
22 straight against A10 opponents? Right? 9 straight last year and now 13 this year?

Re: 2/13 | Richmond Spiders | 8:30PM (CBSSN)
Many games this year have had a familiar rhythm.
Clearly, Cyril has returned to form and is our best big-man. However, Andre has more to offer as a starter than when he comes off the bench. Is Andre gaining weight? He appears slower.
My eyes tell me that Jared defers to EC and takes charge in his absence. The team seems to recognize that Jared is the alpha when EC is not there.
EC must shoot effectively from the outside in order for his penetrating game to be effective, UR let EC shoot from the outside just as Davidson did.
I think Stan can play better on both ends of the court. I'm not saying that he is playing badly, just that he is cable of playing better.
My guess is that EC will not play Friday.

E.C never became the star we wanted after his sfirst year at URI and he was getting national accolades as the a possible first round NBA pick.
He has some issues where his shooting can be absolutely awful for long periods, and others where he is just totally anonymous. 5 years into his college career he still hits the front end/airball on many contested shots and even many untested..
He's not an elite defender like our other starting other starting guards. At best he is the 3rd best shooting guard on the team. A loss of Terrel or Robinson would hurt the team far, far more, and have a much greater chance of prematurely ending a chance at a great NCCA tournament win, or final four tourney run.
Lastly i'm not trying t shit on E.C. He came and believed in Hurley/URI basically based on faith and a bond with Hurley... he has also won us many a game over the years also. Those are not accomplishments to piss on and were critical in building the program.
But we need to consider the man All, in All, and take him as he was. The truth was he has never been the elite a_10 player we hoped he would be,. Much less an NBA draft prospect. Still, the team is generally better off with him and i hope he returns fast.

Was a break out star as a freshman and followed it up with an even better sophomore year:
16.9/4.6/2.0 on solid shooting. And helped carry that 2014-15 team to a 2nd place regular season and 1 win from making the tournament.
Blowing his knee out in game 1 killed his development. Instead of getting to build off of a great 1st 2 years, he had to go back to square one.
It's commonly accepted that most athletes are not back to pre injury levels until a year after coming back. Last year you could tell he was relearning the game and working on getting back to his old level. If he wasnt injured he would've instead been working on taking his game to the next level.
Much like Dawan Robinson, a blown out knee turned "what was" into "what couldve been".
