Wanted to gauge what other fans think on this question I've been pondering for a couple weeks. I know my answer, but don't want to influence it either way.

He should and I would be shocked if he doesn't. Teams start walk-ons for senior night. Jarvis is one of the great points guards to come thru this program, and he really deserves to start every night. The only reason he doesn't start is because you can't start six guys and Jeff has not done anything to lose his job since Jarvis came back last year.

I'm torn on this. I voted no, just to keep the good thing going. Don't mess with what works. They are now 35-7 since Dowtin took over. But if memory serves, Penders started Jimmy Christian and Dennis Tabisz on senior night against UMass, so what do I know.

IIRC - the only game Jared Terrell has NOT started in his career was Senior Night his Freshman year, I believe he sat so that a Senior whom I cannot remember could start. All that to say, Hurley starts Seniors on Senior Night. Jarvis starts, as he should.

I DO remember TJ kissing the Ram logo at center court as he went to the bench for the last time. One of the very best Senior Night moments I have been able to witness.

Let me see if I have this correct. Tonight we played a Richmond team that has starting five that is young, but is team that lacks depth. They gave us a tussle for 25 minutes before the Rams took advantage over and blew them away. In the process, EC went down with an injury we do not know the extent of and how long he will be out. And on Friday we face the second best team in the A-10, a pre season favorite along with URI in Olean before a packed, loud arena itching to snap our winning streak and you are pondering about whether Garrett starts in the senior night game to be played on the next to last day in February. Really!

The only times a senior usually doesn't start on senior night is a walk on type of guy not a 4 year contributor like Jarvis

I voted yes but I’m thinking no.

I think starting him implies that he means less to this team coming off the bench, which isn’t true at all.

I would argue the biggest advantage we have this year is having Jarvis coming off the bench and running the offense/handling the ball and defending against guys who will not have a career in basketball at any level after college.

Implying that he can only get his due by starting is folly.

He’s like TJ...embracing this role and becoming a leader because of it.

Obviously I’d be psyched if he started but I think it’s more important all 5 seniors are in the game at the end.

TJ started on Sr Night. Jarvis is mature enough to understand the importance of his role. He has embraced it and received more recognition for embracing it (ESPN interview that went national). Recognizing him for four great years on Sr Night will not change anything, especially Jarvis’ attitude and approach.

I would give almost anything to be there, but with my wife working on Tuesday nights, I have to stay home with our toddler. I'm hoping the senior night festivities will be televised or streamed. Or at the very least, up later on youtube (RhodySurf?).

To expand on this, he already averages 22 minutes a game and I can't imagine Jeff would have his feelings hurt with Jarvis getting the senior night start, so the rotation and chemistry wouldn't be hurt. If anything I think not starting him would hurt the chemistry more.

From a performance standpoint, he's our best outside shooter and while his assist to turnover ratio isn't at Jeff's level, it's still 2.3 to 1 which is damn good, so giving him the start shouldn't have a negative impact on our ability to win.

Finally, I'm sure he's going to have relatives coming in from out of town, some maybe even seeing him play here for the first time. Since it shouldn't hurt us, he should have the opportunity to start and get an extra ovation for his friends and family to see

Well, I was one of the 6 who voted no to starting Garrett Friday night against 73 that said yes
My thinking was that Garrett has done a great job as 6th man. That has been his role. Starting him kind of makes it look like you are just starting him on Senior night and he wasn't good enough to start, yet Hurley has said he has 8 starters so no shame in not starting.

But changing the starting line up can be disruptive. Would it have made a difference in the game? Not likely but it still changes things.

the 3 point guards were not good.
Garrett 16 minutes, 0-5 FG, 0-4 on threes, 2 assists, 2 TOs
Dowtin 29 minutes, 1-7 FGs, 0-3 on threes, 4 assists, 2 TOs
Russell 24 minutes, 1-10, FGs, 0-6 on threes, 3 assists, 1 TO

Combined 2-22 FGs, 0-13 on threes, 9 assists, 5 TOs

"Dance with the one that brung ya" as the saying goes in my opinion
