Guess it could be in either location. It won't be hard to find it, no matter where they set up.
Who is going tonight? I'm probable.

Not a seat available upstairs at the Mews. I was lucky to get a stool along the wall.

I was just thinking the same thing. Sounds like he has the right attitude and is willing to do what it takes. Berry a good role model!KevanBoyles wrote:Laysard sounds like a nice kid. Very impressed.

Dan, Steve and Don are so enjoyable to listen to.
I was glad to hear shortly before the show that Mike Layssard would be the guest.
Dan commented on Mike how he scored 26 points per game in HS. He said Mike has a chance to be a heck of a player. Dan said Mike has a high motor and a nice touch. Dan mentioned, as he has in the past, that the level of competition in HS did not help Mike in the way it helps other guys who played at high level programs in very competitive leagues.
Mike said his strengths are offense - scoring the ball and high energy. Mike said he has always been a jump shot person and that he loves hook shots. Mike said his weaknesses (or areas to work on) are defense and rebounding.
Dan complimented Mike saying Mike brings energy - he doesn't take energy. Dan said he has to work on his ball screen defense.
They discussed Andre Berry. Dan talked about how hard Andre has worked, especially over the summer when he thought he might have an opportunity. Dan also stressed how Andre has continued to work hard even since he has had success.
Andre said that Andre is my guy. Mike said Andre always tells him to stay with it, never get down on yourself. Mike said last year he and Andre had a strong bond and that this year it's even moreso.
Interesting hobby for Mike is painting. He is a shoe painter. He orders paint from Amazon. Mike enjoys hunting and fishing. Steve asked about hunting and Mike said he liked to shoot a boar hog.
Jeff Dowtin's strong performance was discussed with Dan having many nice things to say about Jeff. Dan mentioned how good their Won-Lost record was since Jeff entered the starting line-up. They tried to guess, then asked Shane what it was. Shane said 26-7. Looking back to confirm it looks like Shane is right. I think I might have counted the Buffalo Exhibition in error when I arrived at my 27-7 earlier this week:
Jeff entered the starting line up following the consecutive losses to Dayton and then the bad home loss to LaSalle. We are now on a 7 game win streak!!!

Safehouse or the Trap? They adjoin each other but all previous ads said it was at the Trap.

......if the Trap, get there really really early if you expect to seat/eat......last year I left before show started, no service, long wait even at bar......had a sense they were unprepared for the crowd.....

The Trap is a nice place, but I think given the current level of interest in URI basketball, it is both too small and a bad configuration for a Coach's Show. The Back40 would be better, as would Dan's Carriage Inn Saloon, and Arooga.

We actually went to The Trap/Safehouse after the game on Friday night. The Trap was packed and had no seats, but there was plenty of room downstairs at The Safehouse. The food was good and reasonably priced.

Should be an interesting show.....
If I can make it, maybe I should ask Dan if it would be a better idea to have senior night festivities right AFTER the game instead of before lol.....

I would like to hear him discuss how they operate during a tournament.
If they have learned any tricks of the trade over the years.
Playing games every other day must take some doing. Does he think they could refine what they did between Creighton and Oregon last year? In terms of getting ready for the turnaround?

Yeah I know ATP.....at least he's taking the heat for last night....
The other thing that was surprising is that I'm sure everybody was waiting for us to make a run in the second half and get back into the game....
Never happened and it got worse.....emotions or not, they should have been over that after the reaming they must have gotten at halftime.

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show: Wednesday 6pm @ Safehouse in E.G.
Not a large room, but pretty full. Was a good time. Dan had some interesting comments on the zone d and 3 point shooting. He said that, the threes the team took for the most part were good looks, but just didn't go down. And, when that happens the other team just shrinks the zone down even more...so, while, we were all wondering why they didn't drive to the hoop more...to a large degree, it was because, the more we missed from outside, the more they packed it in to the paint, closing off that option even more...
Mood seemed good, lots of applause for Dan and you could tell he appreciated it. He also talked about some changes to next year like, when they clinch the regular A10 title, they won't be cutting nets down and something about senior night activities taking place post-game, instead of pre-game.
Talked about the seniors and mentioned that no one has hit the floor more often than Stan this year, that it's started to show a little over the last 10 days or so and that he'll probably be the one that benefits most from having a week off after Friday....
There was more, but my memory just ain't what it used to be...

Re: Dan Hurley Coach's Show: Wednesday 6pm @ Safehouse in E.G.
Dan made one comment, seemingly offhand, that was a little odd.....he said "as long as I'm here" in response to a question from Steve....
They played a tape of Steve talking to Lunardi.....that was done before the game, concerning our seeding possibilities.
Would have been a better take if it had been done after the game, looking back at it now.

What was up with the show tonight? The version posted online was only 26 minutes, and it seemed like maybe the opening segment or two were not included. Anyone go or listen live on the radio?
