I think that is what the rumored big news always was.....
F*ck Alacki, DarthFriar, DirtyBeanFriar94, xCoachK, Boxworth, Friar Faithful, bicycleicycle, Matt_Keough, Patrick Norton, the Rosato brothers, and especially Benjamin Lord !
Let's just be clear. Big news on scheduling would be a home and home against a known top team (NC, Duke, UConn, Michigan, MSU etc). This is just not that.
This Hawaii tournament should not be announced as big news. The current big announcement referred to in this thread has to be something different or failed to happen ???
So Adam, I would agree that the Diamond Head was not what the “big News” from Birdmanjrjr was about.
So was the big news about the home-home with a P5 team that many already know about or was it something other than that?
Or should this thread just be put to bed and forgotten?

I'm not really going to say anything else specific because I don't feel like it is my place to do so.
What I will say is that I feel like Birdman made his post about something he was excited about and heard a couple months ago, and some here (not you Ramster, to be clear) have turned it into a bigger deal over time and have let it build up into something larger than it is. Personally, I am very excited about it, I think it's a great thing for our program. But if others have gotten themselves to a point in their head where it has to be Duke or UNC coming to the Ryan Center or it's a disappointment then go ahead and just start being disappointed now.

Adam is spot on with his sentiments. People have to be realistic and just because Bird man was excited, doesn’t mean we just won the national championship guys. We need 1,000 more bird men to get excited about solid stepping stones for the program and not just unrealistic pipe dreams.
There are really people who thought Duke would come to the RC? Wow. They will probably also be disappointed if we don't win a national championship. Sorry, those things aren't happening here.
Sorry Billyboy if you think big news is West Virginia is coming back to Kingston. Someone hypes huge news coming on scheduling one does not think it is a team that played us in Keaney Gym for years.

.......maybe when Bobby takes over at Duke, after his run at Arizona State, and when Coach K retires, a date a date at the RC......??

Been said over and over, They will never play each other.
That’s what makes college basketball so great, you need to get hot and make a run over 6 games, not best of seven series. Who has Uconn winning that one year, Nova winning, etc. I say Nova since they always get bounced the first weekend it seems. Once you’re in the dance, literally anything can happen.
theblueram wrote:And any former rival, WV, Uconn, Temple, Xavier, Butler, Penn State, Rutgers etc should never be played on a neutral "home" court. Never.
If it’s an annual top 20ish type program who is willing to play us at Mohegan and then a road game with a potential to re-up home and home two years later, no way should we say no. Stepping stone guys, Mohegan while not the Ryan Center should be Rhody Blue through and through.
theblueram wrote:You would also think Uconn is not a rival as well. Since we haven't played them in awhile.
So let me ask you this, would you rather see us play a peronial top 15-25 program at Mohegan or another mid major who might win their league at the Ryan? To add further nuance to the question, one game max per season at Mohegan is understandable, I’m not advocating all games at Mohegan to be clear.
With the best conferences moving to 20 game schedules, the chances of playing top teams OOC drastically drops. I give the program credit for getting creative with their scheduling.
