Re: Week #4 - Games of Interest
Agreed ATP, but even 10th might not get more than 2 bids.
Who else is going to step up and separate themselves from the pack? I think VCU might, not sure if anyone else will.

Not arguing that. 2 is the A10's max. Just want people to look at the best tools available.

Re: Week #4 - Games of Interest
First results of the day are in as La Salle holds on to beat Holy Cross in the HOF Classic in Belfast, Ireland, 58-54. La Salle led most of the way, and by as many as 16 points, but Holy Cross came to life late in second half to tie game 50 all with 2+ minutes left, but the Explorers were able to hold on to the win on some Pookie Powell heroics.

Re: Week #4 - Games of Interest
Interesting graphic shown in the Cincinnati-Xavier game, listing the top scoring active duos in Division 1:
JP Macura/Trevon Bluiett (2895)
EC Matthews/Jared Terrell (2843)
Jaylen Adams/Matt Mobley (2838)
They unfortunately spelled Jared wrong (only 1 r, FS1)

I know they’re playing without Bishop and Henriquez right now, but Saint Louis is embarrassing.

Re: Week #4 - Games of Interest
The A-10 went 5-4 on Saturday.
On the bad side two A-10 teams were trounced by Big East teams as Butler whipped Saint Louis, 75-45 and Villanova beat up Saint Joseph's, 94-53.
Another rout was Richmond falling to Wake Forest, 82-53.
Not impressive, but a win as Fordham beat Maine in OT, 67-66.
UMass in loss at South Carolina, 76-60.
St. Bonaventure in a nice win over Buffalo, 73-62. Jaylen Adams was back in the lineup and contributed 9 points on 28 minutes of play. The Bonnies, led by Matt Mobley's 25 points, have confirmed they will be a A-10 contender.
With a career high performance of 28 points by Justin Tillman,VCU beat ODU in an intra state battle. The first half was tight throughout, in the second half ODU built a 10 point margin in the first seven minutes and then VCU quickly regrouped and with 9 minutes remaining took a lead which it never relinquished.
Of course, the highlight of the day was Rhody's win over PC making the Friars the third straight Big East team they have beaten!!
In games involving URI OOC opponents:
#18 Virginia easily defeated Lehigh, 75-54.
Iona came from behind to beat Fairleigh Dickinson, 82-75.
Brown blows a 15 point lead to lose to Central Connecticut State, 68-62.
Middle Tennessee wins its home and home series with Florida Gulf Coast, 81-76.
Behind at the half by 2, Nevada come roaring back to take down UC Irvine, 76-65, moving the Wolfpack record to 8-0.

Nevada may turn out to be a good loss. We may meet again in March. Schmidt will have the Bonnies ready.

Re: Week #4 - Games of Interest
Watching the Alabama game, but all I can focus on is Tacko Fall. He’s gigantic.
Petty looks like he might have reaggravated that ankle injury. He just left the game and went to the locker room.
Update: he’s back,

Re: Week #4 - Games of Interest
The Bama loss sucks...but we don’t need a “ranked” win right now. Meaning we’re not a desperate fan base looking for a win over a team with a number next to their name.
Win or lose Wednesday, Bama will be a top 50 road game on paper in March. That’s what we need.
Seton Hall winning and Bamas loss may put us in the rankings come monday

Good point about not needing a ranked win, but disagree about being ranked tomorrow I expect we'll be around the 4th or 5th team out though.Blue Man wrote:The Bama loss sucks...but we don’t need a “ranked” win right now. I agree it doesn’t matter whether Bama is ranked or not but if we lose that game won’t make much of a difference come March.Blue Man wrote:The Bama loss sucks...but we don’t need a “ranked” win right now. Makes Bama sound much more beatable.
They have not played all that well in their wins either.
Cannot WAIT to see Fatts against sexton!

Re: Week #4 - Games of Interest
Recapping Sunday A-10 action:
GW in a nice win over Temple, 71-67.
Auburn had no problem with George Mason as the Tigers cruised to a 79-63 win.
Dayton suffered a heartbreaking loss at undefeated Mississippi State. Dayton fell behind by as many as 21 points in the second half before they made a furious comeback to tie the game at 59 with about a minute left. Dayton had the ball with 28 seconds left, then missed a three point attempt, but got the rebound and held the ball for the last shot, but an Auburn steal and a lay-up with one second left gave Miss State the 61-59 win.
