Wouldn't be surprised if we have won our last [and only] game this season.

"Last year we lost to Maine 28-21 at home. However we were tied with seven minutes to go and all of that despite losing the turnover battle an absolutely obscene 5-0 and one of those five turnovers was a pick six. We should have won that one and we should win again this year."
That's what I wrote before this season. After the Brown loss, who knows.

Bobby Apgar was a heck of a receiver.
I hope Parker breaks the record vs Maine AND he is only a Sophomore!!

I thought Apgar played in the early 90's. Like 92/93

Maine has had one tough road these first few games. UCF was cancelled, but still UNH, JMU, and Villanova to start the year? That’s tough. And Josh Mack has run well against all those tough teams (has not played Villanova yet).

Maine vs Central Florida was interesting.
Central Florida cancelled the Maine game so that they could play Memphis instead, which had previously been cancelled due to Irma
Maine still got the $350,000 payout from Central Florida

Sophomore Aaron Parker with a 44 yard TD pass from JaJuan Lawson to bread Bobby Apgar's record of 7 straight games with a TD pass.
Parker how has 8 straight games with a TD pass.
Will be exciting to see him go for 9 straight at Homecoming next weekend versus Elon.

Just tuned in to see the final 8 minutes of the 2nd quarter. I don't know how we put up 21 points but this team is so poorly coached and can't seem to execute on either side of the ball, just awful.

They have to fire Fleming. I've actually been late to the Fleming-hating party. I felt like he was getting good recruiting classes and rebuilding a dead program it may take some time. But I actually think we have decent talent now - maybe not national title contending talent but good enough to win 4-6 games and be competitive. This is a fucking joke and an embarrassment. We have gotten WORSE every single week. How do you give up 40 (and counting) unanswered points to Maine? This isn't Alabama.
He has to go, shouldn't even be on the bus back to Kingston.

Re: Gm 6 @ Maine Sat Oct 14 3:30pm
Disgusting performance by football. Going from up 21-10 to down 51-21.
Once again under this coaching staff a nose bleed turns into a severed artery. 41 unanswered points against a 1-3 team. If you think there's talent on this team this coaching staff should be gone, because they're squandering it.
Also, a special fuck you to Maine. You're up 44-21 and our defense is showing no signs of stopping you so you go for a flea flicker? Classless. Our basketball team doesn't have many cupcakes on the schedule this year, get the boys from Orono down here and destroy them, see how they like that.

We have talent. If i’m Parker i’d go to a D1 school he’s that good. It’s all preparation and adjustments. Getting riddled in 2nd half. Agree coach has to go. Make him a recruiter.

My niece is dating a player from another CAA school who graduated recently and he basically told me your coach sucks and your players play softer than their size.

Unless our AD is in Orono, he probably can't reach him. But, once they get far south enough of Orono that they have cell coverage, he should call someone's cell on the bus, get coach on and fire him on the bus....would be a good splash for us and might make Lane Kiffin feel better, as he'd be able to say, "Well...at least I was fired in a major metropolitan airport and not on a bus in the woods in Maine..."TruePoint wrote:They have to fire Fleming. I don't hate Fleming- he is simply not a good head coach. He is over his head and was a bad hire. This is all on Thorr. Even if he does remove Fleming - as he must - I have no confidence that he would recognize a quality replacement and know how to build a competitive program. He is as responsible as the Coach for this unacceptable lack of achievement. But first step first, give one of the assistants the reigns for the rest of the season, and let the players know that we believe we have enough talent to win and that the expectation is to win.

You're talking about a group of college age kids who went through at least high school as the toast of their town, in large part due to their athletic exploits. When they committed to come here to play football it was a celebration for their family. Everyday they put in work. And this fanbase and university don't give them a chance to be successful. Fleming needs to go, but a lot more needs to happen as well. Is this fanbase, is this athletic department, is this university ready to make the commitment the students have made?NYGFan_Section208 wrote:Can't even imagine what the players have to be thinking at this pointUncle Ed wrote:I don't hate Fleming- he is simply not a good head coach. Re: Gm 6 @ Maine Sat Oct 14 3:30pm
- After URI scored on the opening drive they stopped Maine on 3 downs. Crushing penalty when URI roughed the punter. Next play Maine throws a 54 yard TD pass to quickly tie the score 7-7. That penalty was brutal
- Also brutal was with URI up 21-17 with 1:20 left in the half we punted and Maine returned the punt 77 yards. Why didn't punter kick to the sidelines to go out of bounds, or kick it high enough to warrant only a fair catch? 2 UR tacklers missed just as Micah Wright caught the ball. So instead of going to locker room up 21-17 we were down 23-21 and really down emotionally after that
- Twice saw plays where the QB and receiver were messed up. QB throws long and Receiver runs a 10 yard and out pattern. Rarely see this and happened twice
- Can see why Maine beat Bryant 60-12
- Josh Mack was great with 248 yards - seemed like he could have gone for more. Was a big difference in the game.
- I thought Maine had more talented players than URI, especially on special teams, at running back and QB
- I would start Lawson next game vs Elon. Our running game was non existent other than when Lawson ran 10 times for 67 yards. He has the ability to make things happen. Threw 2 TD passes.
- Receivers dropped several balls that should have been caught
- Parker needs to have more than 4 receptions - he is a special talent - need him with the ball in his hands more often

Re: Gm 6 @ Maine Sat Oct 14 3:30pm
Ramster spot on...and those first two plays specifically were major turning points where we lost. Why are you rushing hard on the punter after you stopped them, getting ball back and with all the momentum. We should have been going for a strong punt return, not a punt block. We didn't need to do something drastic to alter momentum, just keep the chains moving. We get ball back, go down and score again and it's 14-0 and a different ball game.
Then same thing on 2nd play, kick it out of bounds, the only thing they could do with 1minute left was break a punt return.
We also are awful in 3rd and longs...UNH riddled us on 3rd and 15+, and Maine did the same. Our secondary looked lost on a couple of them.
Lack of preparation, adjustments, scouting, and all of the above. That is all coaching.
