ATP,
My point exactly is that MY quote of "never wanted him" was taken out of context.
I said "pass" on Lane at the very beginning. He worked out for URI the same weekend that Toppin worked out for the team. Reading the thread on Lane it's said he was not going to make the team better basically.
When he chose VCU I said "never wanted him". Taken out of context it can sound like sour grapes and I am simply saying "never wanted him" just because we did not get him. Taken in context you would know I did not want him from the start. But nobody would know that. Context is important.
Guessing Koch was referring to Juiston as UNLV is a school people often associate with shady stuff. Guessing hat informs the "fans from 6 schools swear he got paid" comment.
Really this comment chain just highlights how awful twitter is as a tool for communication. Why people flocked to an awful generic message board that only allows 140 character posts and spams half page ads is still mind boggling to me.
Yes, NY Rens are playing Nike EYBL 17U this year. They played their 4 games.
The guy to watch is 2019 Kofi Cockburn who is playing up with the 17 U Team.
In 4 games he had:
21 points 10 rebounds
14 points 15 rebounds
16 points 11 rebounds
10 points 8 rebounds

Signing period isn't until November. Normally we start getting some visits in June. Hopefully we get verbals shortly after that. I'm not sure when the Europe trip is, but obviously they'll have to schedule visits around that. Hopefully we hear of some scheduled visits soon for June or July.
Following up on the geographical recruiting debate, I looked at the URI '18 offers on this board.
URI has offered players in 19 states and Canada.
8 offers (each): New York, North Carolina and Maryland
4 offers: Florida
3 offers: Mass. and Penn
2 offers (each): Georgia, Ohio, DC
My counting could be off a little here and there but interesting just the same.

Overall, yes, but he's learning quickly that building a program is no joke, as he heads into year three. They've had two highly regarded recruits leave, one this past December and another at the end of the season. They also had a 4 star '17 decommit. The resources they have, though, being in the Pac 12 are next level stuff. Remy Martin (great name) and Kimani Lawrence come in this season and have a chance to be really good.

Ace, does Bobby's connection to Lawrence go back to his time here? That's a long way for a Rhode Island kid to go.
Ten days remaining till signing day I believe and around 90 graduate transfers started the process and nothing still. Is anyone else concerned? Seems like this would have been an easier sell. Alumni need to step up for the program at this stage financially, but continued recruiting momentum would be ideal. I think a grad big-man is key, need rebounding and a little O. It is a shame, the VCU kid Ahmad would be ideal, I liked his game. In Dan we trust.

This is puzzling, we had momentum with winning the A10, making it to the second round of the NCAA and our coach being all over the place with interviews after the tourney, as well as his name being mentioned for one of the more prestigious jobs available, and as RF1 mentioned, a European trip this summer...we are also a team that just lost its starting front court (PLAYING TIME...HELLO!), and has a fantastic set of guards returning (and 1 more coming in)...yet it's crickets...what gives? I am assuming that this is Dan not wanting to reach for a player that will not help next season and not that there isn't interest from players. At least that is my hope. But then, with all this momentum you would think/hope he would be able to sign a player that can help next year...

I noticed Boswell followed him on Twitter and went to his profile and noticed that Kiyon follows Jarvis Garrett, Jared Terrell, Boswell, Jeff Dowtin, Stanford Robinson, Hassan, ARD and most importantly coach Hurley.

He's from DC so if we are recruiting him, you would think that Cox would be the guy.

Could be. He plays for Team Loaded - Addidas AAU, out of Virginia. His teammate is Jaelin Llewellyn who URI just offered on May 1st, so you now we are watching Jaelin and Team Loaded so therefore we are watching Boyd too. Boyd is a 4 star. Been offered by PC and a host of others. Jaelin is now a 3 star. http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/kiyon-boyd

This has got me wondering now. I wonder if he visited without anyone reporting it. All of a sudden, he recently follows several URI players and 3 URI coaches. How else would he suddenly know all these guys? I get that he might know Dowtin and Stan, being that he's from DC. But all of a sudden he follows all these other guys? I'm intrigued. He'd be quite a get, if we are indeed involved.

This would be a nice addition for sure. These next few months are going to give us insight into what kind of team we will be for the four years starting in 18.
You know something that grinds my gears? When AAU/high school players post that they have been offered by URI, they use outdated pictures of the ryan center showing the old floor. USE A NEW PICTURE! Also, that transfer from Pitt is enormous.
We don't need another out of shape player...especially one that would have only a few months to get in shape....if he's been that big his entire college career he isn't getting any lighter here or anywhere else.

I think I hate when people use "Rhode Island University" more than I hate PC.
Zero idea how people still can't get the name of our school right.
Prolific tweeter Birdman reports that Terrance Mann was practicing at Rhody today but has no intention of leaving FSU......but that there was another visitor on campus today.....he wouldn't name names however....
F*ck Alacki, DarthFriar, DirtyBeanFriar94, xCoachK, Boxworth, Friar Faithful, bicycleicycle, Matt_Keough, Patrick Norton, the Rosato brothers, and especially Benjamin Lord !
The transfer from Pitt intrigues me. 6"11 wide body.....at least it would provide some interior D/ rebounding. Hopefully we give a workout before we judge

My guess would be Martin Mann...
What is Birdman's Twitter handle

@TheBirdmanJrJr ....Does anybody know who this is? Someone from here? He tweets a lot about URI basketball.
Terance Mann's Twitter page has seemed to disappear.
