Rams over Monmouth in 13 innings, 5-4! Playing right now against Notre Dame. Might be a tough one since the team's got to be gassed and the Irish are licking their wounds from getting blanked 8-0 by UMass-Lowell. Radio call from ND is here: http://watchnd.tv/#!/games/2016412?live ... P6CAd3AzfK
Wilson picked up the win in URI's 5-2 victory at #6 NC State Friday afternoon. The Palmer, Mass. product allowed just two runs on five hits over six complete frames en route to his first win of the season. He recorded a trio of 1-2-3 innings - in the second, fourth and fifth - while holding the nationally-ranked Wolfpack to a season-low two runs. In his last four starts dating back to last season, Wilson has now led the Rams to a pair of road wins against the country's sixth-ranked team as he also earned the win at #6 South Carolina during the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
People looking for something to watch while they come down off that win before watching Mason vs VCU, you can catch Rhody Baseball at Arkansas right now on SEC + (also available through WatchESPN). In Bot 3, URI 0 - ARK 1.
URI wins their surprise home opener 6-4. This game was originally scheduled to be played at Sacred Heart but was moved because their field wasn't ready to go due to winter conditions. An astroturf field certainly hurts my romantic sentiment about how baseball should be played, but once again it has worked in our favor. The team will be back at home a week from Friday.

That's too bad to hear. This was a huge year for him as was going to be draft-eligibile. In all likelihood, this is going to affect his draft stock and limit whatever signing bonus he will receive, whether it is this year or next year.
Good come back win this morning in game 1 of the double header vs Saint Louis. Rhody moves to 4-0 in A10. Nice game for North Kingstown,RI native Chris Hess going 3-5 with 3 runs scored and a rbi
Rhody goes to 5-0 in A10 play winning their 8th straight game behind Matt Murphy who pitched 7 shut out innings and giving up only 2 hits. Got to like these winning streaks by the Basketball team and now being copied by the Baseball Team!!
I think it's pretty impressive that we're 5-0 in A10 play with a half game lead on VCU for first place with our best pitcher not available. And it's not like we've done that against the worst conference teams. We took three at Davidson who was picked to finish 7th preseason and two against St. Louis who was picked to finish tied for third with St. Joe's. And we've outscored those teams 33-13 in the five games. Our Pythagorean expectation is off the charts right now!

Rhody has been great this year despite both our returning starting pitcher missing the season in Tyler Wilson and Ben Wessel. Rams take on Bryant today before traveling Olean, NY for 3 with Bonnies
Freshman lefty Jake Walker gives up 3 in the bottom of the fifth and the Rams can't clap back in time, Bryant wins 3-2. Their field is really great btw. Exactly the sort of thing URI needs.
Dropped first game at Bona, junior righty Nick Johnson gave up 4 runs in 5 1/2 innings. Double header tomorrow at 11AM (JR RHP Matt Murphy 3.18 ERA) and 2PM (FR RHP Vitaly Jangols 0.59 ERA in 15 innings). This is only Vitaly's second start at URI since he held Davidson scoreless with only a single through 5 innings back in March.
If you look at the Rams baseball schedule, it shows attendance each game. URI easily has the lowest attendance record out of anyone they play. The bigger schools reach nearly 8 thousand while others get a few hundred which is still good. URI gets around 100 or less. Again I believe its a location issue, but the marketing behind URI baseball barely exists. It's not the sport either. Other schools of similar size and location have shown to get many more fans, its certainly not their performance either.
Rhody has terrible marketing period! Always has. Just look on Rt95, there are Friartown signs everywhere, PC hockey even gets it brand out there and we have what, the South County Independent/Narragansett Times and TV spots on Cable Access channels it seems like. I am currently in Ft Myers with the wife and kids and there is Florida Gulf Coast basketball and baseball billboards everywhere, busses have it pasted on them and even benches on the side of the road. That's just for small FGCU! I say it all the time, that THINK BIG bs was only about academics not athletics in any way shape or form.

Obviously, haven't made it to a game yet...how many can Rhody seat for baseball?
URI is now 22-16 overall and 10-4 in conference play (2nd place behind VCU @ 13-2). After having played 31 of its first 38 games away from home, Rhody baseball closes out the season with ten of its last twelve games at Beck Field where it has gone 6-1 to date thus far.
URI could have two avenues to a third bid in program history, carrying an RPI ranking in the mid-40s into this weekend’s series with rival Massachusetts. The Rams could secure an at-large selection into the field of 64 with a strong finish or stage a repeat march to an Atlantic 10 tournament title at Saint Louis from May 24 to 27.
