A10 Tournament possible seeding
So far the seedings we know is Dayton will be a top 2 seed
VCU will be a top 4 seed
The 2 remaining top 4 seeds are between Richmond, URI, SBU and GMU holds onto a slight hope.
Of the 3 URI has the hardest schedule remaining
I will posted the up to date standings following tonight games

Re: A10 Tournament possible seeding
If we forget about any small chance we have at an at large bid I would say that last nights game vs lasalle was more important than say the VCU game. If we lost vs lasalle they would own tiebreaker against us and have the 4 seed with an easy schedule remaining.
Luckily we took care of business and are in good shape for getting a double bye even if we lose a game or god forbid 2

Two-Team Tie
1. Head-to-head competition.

Re: A10 Tournament possible seeding
we can get the 2 seed in the following scenario:
URI wins out [vs VCU, at SJU, vs Davidson]
VCU loses out [at URI, at Dayton, vs GMU]
Richmond loses 1 of it's remaining games [at Fordham, at UMass, vs SLU]
URI wins out [vs VCU, at SJU, vs Davidson]
VCU loses out [at URI, at Dayton, vs GMU]
Richmond loses 1 of it's remaining games [at Fordham, at UMass, vs SLU]

So if URI has a better overall record than Richmond, but their conference record is tied, Richmond gets the breaker?

The tiebreaker reason is listed below the standings along with the full A10 tiebreaker procedure. The first tiebreaker is head to head and since URI lost to Richmond, Richmond owns the tiebreakerRhodymob05 wrote:So if URI has a better overall record than Richmond, but their conference record is tied, Richmond gets the breaker?

If the seeds stay relatively the same, that 1 seed will have a tough game facing Davidson/Fordham. Davidson is always dangerous if they get hot and Fordham has shown they can beat anybody this year.

Re: A10 Tournament possible seeding
Yes. Because they only played one game and Richmond win. Doesn't matter if URI went 12-0 in OOC. Only conference record counts. If they played home and home and split and both finished A10 12-6 then ypunho to the next tie breaker on the list.Rhodymob05 wrote:So if URI has a better overall record than Richmond, but their conference record is tied, Richmond gets the breaker?

So if I'm doing this right we can be anywhere from 2-5 going into the midweek games. And if Bonaventure loses tonight and we win tomorrow we clinch a double bye.

Actually, either a Bonnies loss tonight or a Rhody win tomorrow clinches the double bye. The Bonnies lose both 2 and 3 team tiebreakers to both Rhody and Richmond.

Re: A10 Tournament possible seeding
I'm curious who people would rather see in the semis, (assuming that is essentially a play-in game, which I understand is not a given at this point).
On one hand, it seems obvious that we've lost to Dayton twice and beat VCU by 10, so maybe you assume we match up better with VCU. On the other hand, I felt like Dayton was very beatable both times and traditionally we've had more success against Dayton, whereas VCU has been a big lift for us. Curious what other people think.

I'd love to see Dayton, if for nothing else just for another shot at beating them. I actually would rather play VCU in the semis
I know we played Dayton great and could have won both games I think if it's very close again we will lose a close one
WE may have VCU number and I think Datong is a better team than VCU

Both of our games vs Dayton were tough, close losses. We have proven that we can play at their level, and it just doesn't seem likely that they could beat us 3 times in the same season. Plus, a Dayton win would be a massive asset to our resumè, and losing to VCU after beating them wouldn't look too hot.

Re: A10 Tournament possible seeding
Completely agree with Joe. I want Dayton. We can all agree that URI and Dayton are very close in talent and it's very hard to beat an equally talented team 3 times in a row. Just the simple law of averages would play in our favor. Add in the fact that a first win against Dayton would look a lot better to the committee than a second win against VCU. Also I am not ready to say we have VCU's number. If we had shot our usual percentage from the FT line last Saturday then we probably would have lost that game

Right, one game isn't enough to say we have a team's number. And getting a W against Dayton would help round out the resume. Can't say I'd feel confident or comfortable if we got them though.

I'd prefer Dayton. VCU is tough. We played very well to beat them. And in neutral site with revenge factor I think we'd have trouble beating them. Dayton is no cakewalk either

Dayton has locked up the 1 seed
for URI 2, 3 and 4 seeds all still possible
2 seed if VCU loses, URI wins, Richmond loses
3 seed if VCU loses, URI wins, Richmond wins (VCU 2-1 vs others, URI 1-1 vs the others, Richmond 1-2 vs the others)
3 seed if VCU wins, URI wins, Richmond loses
4 seed if VCU wins, URI wins, Richmond wins
4 seed if URI loses

Re: A10 Tournament possible seeding
Looks like it will be StB then, if we win, Dayton. My opinion that's the worst scenario for us. I think StB has the best chance of anyone to upset us, Dayton or VCU and of course we draw them. Then even if we beat stB, we may knock them out of the top 100 rpi so we lose a top 100 win instead of gaining one. Then, we play Dayton who is smarter and more composed under pressure than VCU. And even if we beat Dayton, we're still 3rd team out of the A-10 whereas if we were to beat VCU in the semis, I think we would get in over VCU. Hopefully St. Louis can beat Richmond Saturday so we move to the other side of the A-10 bracket.

Re: A10 Tournament possible seeding
It will be close, but I plugged in UMass and St. Joe's wins and a loss to us for St. Bonaventure and got a projected RPI of 95.

#4 seed. SBU is the #5 seed and likely 1st game opponent if they do as expected and win Thursday.

I can't see either UMASS or the Hawks beating the Bonnies.

Yeah, same. But I hope they do, because Rhody will steamroll either one of those teams.Rhody74 wrote:I can't see either UMASS or the Hawks beating the Bonnies.
Rather deal with them than the Bonnies with Adams who, like Gibbs, can become a problem.

Re: A10 Tournament possible seeding
Mosley and Adams are very good, but the Bonnies don't play very good perimeter defense and they have very little inside game.....take it to them inside like we did last night and this should be a win.
We are also due to make a better percentage of our 3's....we have stunk out the joint the last 2 games at that.
