There was good advice on the Bill Simmons podcast the other day - take the contracts signed this year, and half them, and you essentially have what they would have been pre-2016. NBA revenues are way up though thanks to new TV contracts, and the cap has gone up a ton this year, and jumps another $20 million or so next year.STC wrote:Turner went to the Blazers for 4/75.Billyboy78 wrote:The Lakers signed Evan Turner yesterday.
Lakers did sign Deng though.
These contracts are absurd.

Sorry to see X get cut. He may always be a borderline guy. But at least he has a few games in the league now. Looked like he played well with Memphis. New coach, new players now.
I'd take him over James Young. But young has the advantage of being a first round pick and being from Kentucky.

Gil does not seem to be playing with the Wizards anymore. Munford didn't look too good last night. Made two three throws in 4 minutes and got stuffed going to the hole twice

I think it's good that he, and even his brother to some extent, still has a connection to the program and feels welcome. Time helps, but the only way that works is if there are quality people on all sides of the situation. I know Jimmy's still a favorite of a lot of people here.

So cool seeing Jimmy come back and work out with our guys!
Thought he may not come back because of his dad.

Good for Parfait. Not only did he play for Skerry while he was an assistant here, I believe his younger brother, William Adala Moto is a senior there. He transferred from Wake Forest, and had a good season for Towson last year.

Son of Catherine Moto…born June 29, 1993 in Yaounde, Cameroon…moved to Virginia from his native Cameroon when he was 15 years old…has two older brothers and two sisters (Ntyam Moto, Parfait Bitee, Zeh Moto, Moto Junior)…brother, Parfait Bitee, was a shooting guard at Rhode Island from 2004-08, and played professionally overseas…undecided on a major.Bos8 wrote:Good for Parfait. X played his first preseason game tonight. In garbage time against Golden State, as the clippers lost 120-75 to the even superer Warriors with Kevin Durant.
Saw bits and pieces of it. GS looks incredible.
X played the final 8 minutes and played well, including some praise from Doug Collins.

Gilvydas Biruta is playing professionally in Greece again, this time with Trikala. He was previously with Lavrio after starting last season playing in Lithuania. Both Trikala and Lavrio are in Greece's highest level pro league. He's started the first two games- had 8 points and 8 rebounds in the first game, 9/6 in the second.

Buried in an article written by a 76ers blogger who tried out for their DLeague affiliate - guess which former Rhody player now going by the name of Moses was at the open tryout? Mention is about halfway through, good read if you have a few minutes.

Re: Where Are They Now? Former Player Results and News
Wow - his quotes strike me as oddly out of touch. He thinks he didn't get as many opportunities *because* he was a Marbury? Looking at his URI stats, they're a bit better than I remember, especially his sophomore year shooting percentage, but they're more along the lines of "potential future All-A10" then "legit NBA prospect." I also couldn't find turnover stats for him via a quick Google search. I remember him not being careful with the ball, but I was around 15 so my memory could be off.

NBA D-League draft took place a couple days ago, and a few players with URI connections were selected.
Jarelle Reischel is headed to Salt Lake City, Rd.2 pk.5
Trashon Burrell to Long Island, Rd.2 pk.14.
LaDontae Henton to Santa Cruz, #10 overall

Obviously the competition was much lower than the A10 but he did average 18 & 7 last year at EKY. But I do agree with you, this was very surprising.URIGONZO wrote:I can NOT believe Reischel is even sniffing the D-League, he was TERRIBLE here!

He also strikes me as a guy who has the kind of athleticism to maybe be better in the pros. Meaning, it's less of a concern that it's tough to involve him in a conventional offense if he's just an energy and defense guy off the bench for 5 to 10 minutes a night.spookydog wrote:Obviously the competition was much lower than the A10 but he did average 18 & 7 last year at EKY. If you're referring to Mike P. as far as I know he never played basketball again for any school. On a sad note it appears he is not on the path we all wished for him. I followed him for some time on social media and there was quite a few posts of him with guns and contraband.
Wish him the best though.

Matthew Butler is off to a good start at Tenn Martin. 25 in one game, averaging double figures, playing a ton of minutes. Nice move on his part.
(Chuckwu, however, not tearing it up at Cuse. Averaging two points a game. Not a good move.)

Love that guy, he really came on strong in his junior and senior seasons, he would have been an NBA prospect if his efficiency was better. Met him a couple of times, seemed to be a super nice guy, hope his time at Rhody payed off/is paying off for him!
