I have a feeling Martez Walker is the number one target. Hurely was In Detroit, at Romulus High at a coaching clinic.
Somehow, I get a feeling he wasn't there for just that. Preston tweeted abut "wings up again", so I wonder if he was with Danny in Detroit?
According to our good friend, RR12345, he is hearing Severe has it down to us and GW. I'm not sure who he's hearing it from, perhaps little voices in his head?
Gw has a committment from 6'1'' combo guard Nigel Johnson from Riverdale Baptist and a 6'3'' SG Nick Griffin from Magruder High School. Having seen all three play multiple times, I would be surprised if they take on Severe, Johnson and Griffin all in the same class.
**Severe, the 6-2 guard from Christ the King, seemed to have a pretty good on-court chemistry with Martin, the Rhode Island commit with whom he took a recent visit to the Rhody campus.
“We’re cool; we’ve talked about possibly playing with each other later on in the future,” said Severe, who listed Rhode Island, George Washington and St. Bonaventure as some of his favorites who are expressing the most interest.
New insider article on Severe. For those who arent subscribers pretty much says that its between URI, GW, and Bonnies. Bottom line is if he commits before early signing cutoff, then its one of us .... if he holds out we may be forced to move on.
Would be nice to have our solid 3 so early. Havent seen this in a while
The article said that he has stayed away from high major schools that have recruited him. I agree with Rod. I think it comes down to playing time over anything. I think he may have the potential to be a 6th man in 2013 and start sophomore year. Thoughts?

Christ the King's Jon Severe tells me Duquesne has offered and he will take an official to St. Bonaventure weekend of Nov. 9. Severe said he will likely make a decision shortly after official to St. Bonaventure based on "where I want to go.
Isn't that kinda obvious, that he's going to base his decision on "where I want to go."
"Every season, college basketball has one or two teams that rise from dormancy to relevancy, squads that make long-awaited charges at the NCAA Tournament and become really fun storylines along the way."
If Severe is looking for playing time right away, he'd be competing with Munford for minutes next year. Supposedly, Munford is very good, so we'll see.
Do we even particularly need a SG for 2013? Do you think that the Hurleys are fine with the team we have? Seeing Munford play, having good transfers coming off the bench, and Powell coming in as a backup PG (most likely), I think our team, for the first time in a long time, might be in good shape. I am thinking they just keep it in case there is a high impact player who may have interest.
Yes, I think so. Munford is only here through 13-14, and if Bigby's eligibility actually runs out after this year, that may be the "extra" spot you hold on to for transfers, late signs, etc. Reischel could get minutes at the 2 spot, but Minnis is a pg.
OK, if Bigby is only here for one season, we have two scholarships for 2014 recruiting.
Not counting anyone leaving, which almost always happens.
If Hurley can bring in a nice player this year, great.
If he wants to hold them for 2014, great. That would give three for 2014.
Remember, they went hard after Pollard. So, they must want players for next season.
Time will tell.
Right, for 13-14, they lose, for sure, Nik, Brooks, and Malone and are bringing in Martin and Matthews. If Bigby is only here for a year, they have two for '13 left as of right now. If he's here for 2, they have two for '14 (Munford, Bigby) and just one left for '13. Again, assuming no other changes, which is unlikely.
"Jon Severe - The sharpshooter from Christ the King Regional HS can score the rock from just about anywhere. Severe often softens up defenders from either the perimeter and then flips it with strong drives to the hole, or vice versa. While a bit undersized for a shooting guard, the senior will still drop thirty-plus on you at the drop of a hat."

Sounds like a scorer that could back up Munford as a freshman and possibly start his sophomore year. If he's the type of kid Hurley is looking for, let's go get him!
I read somewhere that he's going to decide in November. I don't know if that means he will sign during the early period or give a verbal some time this month.
If he's seen URI play he knows there's minutes for anyone who can hit an outside shot!

I have a feeling that Severe will be our next commit, just a guess. He might not see tons of minutes as a freshman, but he'd see some backing up Munford. And if he's as good a shooter as they say, he'd probably see more. And as a sophomore, that 2 guard spot would be his, unless we recruit somebody even better in '14. He's a friend and AAU teammate of Hassan Martin. They have talked about playing together in college.....then again, I also had a feeling we were going to beat Va. Tech a few days ago.
"Christ the King shooting guard Jon Severe and Brooklyn wing Richard Williams of Vermont Academy, both uncommitted prospects, will sign in the spring."
