Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
ATTENTION: As RR brought to my attention, I left an injured and out QB in my lineup for the Thursday game this week. Obviously, this was not a strategic decision, but an oversight on my part. As I would do for anyone else in the same circumstance, I am going to edit my lineup for the week. I think this is the right thing to do for the following reasons:
1. I think it should be obvious that my intention was not to start Ben Roethlisberger this week, as he is out for at least a month and I added a QB this week specifically for that reason. I just forgot about my roster situation ahead of the Thursday game - if the game was on a Sunday this wouldn't have happened.
2. It is fair for the competitive balance of the league that nobody is gifted a win because people fail to set their lineups (as we get further into the season, if people give up on their teams the commissioners should set their lineups for the same reason). As it is, I am a heavy underdog this week, so I likely will not win anyways. But in fairness to all the teams, all games should be contested.
3. This is not a situation where information came out during the game or the guy just sucked, so I retroactively wanted my roster changed. This guy was announced as out last Sunday and it was always my plan to replace him, I just didn't actually do that before the game. On the flip side, Justin Forsett had a strong game from my bench, but I cannot honestly say I meant to play him and I am not going to retroactively put him in this week.
Again, if anyone objects, please let me know and we can put it to a vote. But I do think this is better for everyone (except maybe the guy I'm playing, although he shouldn't want to win on a mistake by his opponent).

You don't think we should fix it? I'm honestly fine with it either way. My team stinks, so my real concern is fairness for the rest of the league. I don't think anyone should be gifted wins, since it impacts the whole standings. Anyone else want to chime in?ATPTourFan wrote:Lame. I have never seen that done before.

Hey who came up with the team name "Golden Tates of Evan"? That's great, love it!

And whoever is playing me this week (Decker/Rice) needs to get his team fixed up too. Still has Romo in there.

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
I'm not sure how I feel about that. I def don't want to take it to a vote being that it's Saturday and a vote just isn't timely, as the team going up against I don't really care either way in the sense that I'd rather a 'legit' win or loss than a win over the 'not caring guy', which brings me to the issue that I do care about, the 'not caring guy' I don't want the league to fall into that already and I think its clear TP does care, also as an aside TP, your team is not nearly as bad as you like us to believe. With all this in mind I understand where ATP is coming from, I've never seen it happen and if we do it we have to give everyone a 'mia culpa' once if they choose.
Twisted, I believe this is where you come in, I lean towards the substitution, but honestly could go either way on this and as co-commissioners in a head to head match up, I'm not sure TP or I should be involved in the decision. In the end I want whats best for the league, managers that care about their teams, but I don't want folks feeling like there is special treatment going on.

Running as the opponent if you really have no problem with it then it's good. Otherwise I vote against letting him add it in since not everyone has the capability to do it and he had chances to remove him from the line up the days leading up to it (even removing him and leaving it blank)
As an aside ATP don't forget to put CJ Anderson in

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
I am 100% cool either way. If people don't think it's the right thing to do, I will totally own the mistake and take the goose egg. On the other hand, if this was anyone else in the league and they had the same circumstance, I would have made the switch for them without thinking twice about it. I don't want to encourage laziness, but I would say if the same situation happened again (a guy playing Thursday night that was definitively ruled out) I would extend the same courtesy to someone else - there is no advantage to be gained from leaving a guy in who you know isn't playing then changing it later. It's not like he got hurt on the first play or he was active and didn't get into the game.

I think we can change it for true point. I still think it's lame but I can understand the competitive balance thing.

I think (correct me if I'm wrong) we actually made a similar concession for SG last year where he didn't set his lineup somehow and it was fixed by the commish. Not sure the circumstances but something like that happened.

Not that I have any say, but I've seen it and done it as a commissioner and that league had a buy in. It's only for obvious cases though which this sounds like.

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
I'm good with the switch and I guess we did do something for SG last year, I have a foggy memory of that. Obviously this isn't the most serious of leagues, but its nice to have a free league with people we know will maintain at least a certain level of activity. Hopefully this will be the last time we have to do something like this, owners need to be on the ball, Thursday games have been a reality for several years now, no excuses. And don't forget about the championship belt presentation, free large cheese fries from Albie's and bragging rights, so that's incentive...

Pffttt, what slander! I mistakenly thought that when I made a successful waiver claim of one tight end for another, it would automatically slot him in. Yahoo didn't, even though he was the only tight end on my roster.TruePoint wrote:I think (correct me if I'm wrong) we actually made a similar concession for SG last year where he didn't set his lineup somehow and it was fixed by the commish. It's a free league, so I'm fine with making the subs after the fact as long as there is a reasonable explanation for why.

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
Twisted this is the current narrative of my fantasy football year, at least I have some wins in this league, in my other I am literally second in points and just fell to 1 and 4. I keep running up against everyone's best week. At least points is a tie breaker for playoff seeding, so there's still time to sneak in if I can put a run together at some point.

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
As the only 0-5 team in the league, I just want to say the following in defense of my pride:
- My five opponents are 21-4 to date, so tough schedule.
- I've had the more points scored against me than anybody else by a considerable margin.
- I have scored more points than six teams - if playoffs were based on points I would be in!
- My two best players are injured.

TP you definitely get the unlucky manager thus far. You're team isn't that bad but like you said you are getting everyone's best week and it started in week 1 losing by less than a point

Meanwhile, I'm like the Peyton Manning of our fantasy football league so far. Gaudy regular season records, at least through a season and a half, but I think I got bounced in the first round of the playoffs last year.

TP, I'm the opposite keep getting everybody's worst week. If I recall I was very lucky to beat you. My team's been smoke and mirrors all year. Luck gets hurt, pick Bradford up off the waivers and he miraculously starts playing well.

Overtime last night was quite helpful for me. First two completions by Carolina put me ahead. After that I was worried about a Newton fumble (-2) or int (-1).

Re: Keaney Blue Fantasy Football League!!!
Against all odds, I'm still somewhat alive. I have a bunch of teams to jump over - I think as of tomorrow I will be behind about a handful of teams by one game, but I'll own the points-for tie breaker against all of them. So I probably need to run the table to pass all the teams between me and the last playoff spot, but I'm not officially dead yet.

Fighting for that last playoff spot. Doesn't help when your first round pick (Lacy) gets you .6 points, after two weeks in a row over 100 yards. Not a good start.
