Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
Well, according to Max Prep, he played prep for Monteverde in FL.
Was rated 1,508 nationally and 55 in Florida.
At Lee College, he averaged 6.9 MINUTES a game, 3.5 ppg., 4.2 rpg., and was a 50% free throw
shooter, in 2013-14.
Can't find anything else on what he did this year.
I'm so excited!

Took a look at the stats and wonder if they're 100% accurate. For example, there was a game listed where he played 1 minute, but had 12 rebounds. I wonder if only the minutes are unaccounted for properly or if all of the stats are off a little bit.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
All of the 1 minute games means they don't have the minutes for those games, that's common on the juco site. So I think we can disregard his minutes per game stats.Shaolin Swat wrote:BFC wrote:JUCO from Lee College: http://stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2014 ... maneba3lc3Billyboy78 wrote:This guy is 6'11", looks like he's visiting. https://mobile.twitter.com/baelane

I did a search on Ousmane Ba and didn't find much in terms of playing profile or stats, other than what Rod already found. He's from the Congo and some sites list him as 7'. It seems he played for The Rock High School of Gainesville, Florida, not Monteverde.

Monteverde's site even had a picture of him.

Yeah don't want a guy who will just get pushed around and who's hands are a foot away from the basket, but can't make a damn layup.
Those guys are infuriating to watch.
How long does it take you to figure out how to make a lay up?? Or learn a hook shot?

Should I mention, Butler was a spring signing?
Or Iffy only playing 7 games all year.
Just saying you trust anyone they bring in, is
saying they can't miss on judging talent.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
Remember that anyone we bring in is a bench guy to fill a role anyhow - how much excitement is there going to be over a role player? Not everyone can avg double-figure scoring, rebounds, etc. We need to replace or slightly improve on the production we received from Reischel, Butler, and Biggie. Solving for Reischel and Butler's missing numbers isn't that difficult, frankly. Looks like a JUCO with a short stay (2 years) or 5th year will be a perfect fit.
There's guys being added to the transfer list every day that we don't know about - only a matter of time before we have at least 2 of these scholarships filled. I'd think if we can't get a 1 year rental for the final spot, then we don't fill it, and load up for 2016.

I think people what to know who replaces Gil & Biggie. Four replaces Butler, and I assume Iverson replaces Reischel at playing the 3/4.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
I think from a scoring perspective, Iverson replaces Reischel, Biggie and Butler in total who combined scored 8.4 points per game. I expect Iverson to total more than 8 ppg.Gil and TJ combined for 14 ppg. That's a gap. But we have Thompson, Butts to help.

Four replaces Matt? As what, the guy who dances in the middle of the circle? That's not a knock on Matt- he's a quality guy, but Four is going to play.RIFan wrote:I think people what to know who replaces Gil & Biggie. Four replaces Butler, and I assume Iverson replaces Reischel at playing the 3/4.
In: McGlynn, Iverson, Thompson, Butts, big man TBD (there's going to be one)
Out: Buchanan, Biruta (sigh), Butler, Reischel, Minnis
Staying: 58% of the minutes and 65% of the scoring in 14-15 in Matthews, Martin, Garrett, and Terrell plus Watson and Onyekaba
Plus, two more spots, one of which will likely be a transfer. Now, we know that they can't just equal the lost production with the new guys and improvement of the holdovers. The expectations are raised, and they must exceed it.

Yes...can't a replacement be an upgrade? He will be, what we hoped Matt would be. Would he be TJs replacement? He was an important jack of all trades; I don't think that is Fours reputation/game.Four replaces Matt? As what, the guy who dances in the middle of the circle? Even better, then Iverson should make up for Jarelle and Minnis plus 2 on Gil and TJ. Butts can cover Butler at 1.7.rodfromcranston wrote:Butts will be a deep bench player.

Wow, Ace, I'm surprised. For someone who is always very analytical of the team effort and doesn't demean anyone, if that's not a knock, I guess I don't know one anymore.ace wrote:Four replaces Matt? It's not a knock on him at all or demeaning, which I said. We are talking about replacing production. RIFan was talking numbers, and there's practically nothing to replace there. Matt is a good guy to have around, especially for a guy like EC, but we were talking about numbers. It's logic, not sentiment, to reference a previously mentioned dichotomy. Matt rarely played, Four is expected to.
Although I will say, no one should want to be the guy that has an unexpectedly monster first game of the season next year.

Interesting quote from Coach in the Projo Article this week..........
“You’ve got to get the proper fit for what we need,” Hurley said. “We have very specific needs right now. We’re not building a fantasy basketball team. You’re putting together an actual basketball team.”

I am still not sure what "dancing in the center circle" has to do with "talking numbers". You are correct that comment was not a knock, it was clearly a Slam. Nothing personal, I am just being a wise guy.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
I think it is obvious that ace's point was that Butler did not contribute much on the floor, and therefore McGlynn will do more than "replace" him from a production standpoint. How anyone could take issue with that or be confused by it is a mystery to me.

Re: General Recruiting Discussion/Comments
Because when you're talking about Butler's "contributions," the only "there" there is the ephemeral, like being a good teammate... Which, to me, is what's expected of all players anyway. I don't think it's a slam. There is nothing you can analyze when it comes to Butler's stat line in the proper context and construe into a positive, really.DeanDome88 wrote:Ace, did you recently lose the ability to write clearly?
