Re: The Upcoming 2015-16 Season!
Now that's some interesting information.
Definitely could've effected his ball handling. That and the foot problem.
Glad he's gettin everything repaired. Having a messed up pinky for a year must've been really annoying!

Look at his right little finger!
Bent big time! No wonder he couldn't control the ball as well!

Why didn't he get it fixed after his freshman season?

Re: The Upcoming 2015-16 Season!
Perhaps he injured it freshman year, but wasn't bad enough to need surgery. Aggravated soph year, but surgery requires extended missed time, which he obviously didn't want to do. Played through it with diminished ball handling skills instead of missing games with surgery (We saw this with his foot, as well.)Billyboy78 wrote:Why didn't he get it fixed after his freshman season?

My quibble is they left out Garrett .... he's part of the core group, not an afterthought.

The athletic department started taking deposits for new season tickets yesterday.
And according to ESPN there are some rules changes:

That ESPN tweet is misleading, if I'm understanding things correctly. These are proposed rule changes to be voted on on June 8th.

It seems you're correct Smarty. It looks like those rules and others were approved by the Rules Committee today but must be formally voted on June 8th.

Although based on all the tweets I'm seeing that talk about these rules like they're already set in stone, I'm assuming this approval is just a formality.

• Adjusting the media timeout procedures to allow a timeout called within 30 seconds of a break (e.g., 16:30) or at any time after the scheduled media timeout becomes the media timeout. (I LOVE this idea. I believe that women's CBB already does it this way)
• Removing the ability for a coach to call timeout when the ball is live.
• Allowing only a total of 10 seconds to advance the ball to the front court (with a few exceptions). (Interesting...)
• Eliminating the five-second closely guarded rule while dribbling the ball. (While it can be exciting to see a turnover forced in this manner, it always seemed like a very odd rule to me)
• Removing the prohibition on dunking in pregame warmups. (About damn time!!)

This could be me just being dumb, but wasn't the 10 seconds to advance the ball already in place?

Re: The Upcoming 2015-16 Season!
Maybe the 10 seconds total means the count doesn't get reset or thrown out for certain situations?? Like you have 10 seconds virtually no matter what happens (fouls, TOs, etc)

Re: The Upcoming 2015-16 Season!
That's how I took it - meaning if you call a timeout after 7 seconds, still in the backcourt, you only have 3 seconds to get it over halfcourt as opposed to the count resetting to 10.

Re: The Upcoming 2015-16 Season!
Decreasing timeouts is a very good thing. The games are not that long- there's just not that much to talk about. Coach up your team and trust them to execute.

Re: The Upcoming 2015-16 Season!
Yes, and I am in favor of this rule change. Theoretically, Team A has the ball and the lead by 2 with 40 seconds left. Team B plays great defense, trying to get a rebound with 5-10 seconds left for a last shot. However Team A has 3 timeouts, so they can literally keep the ball in the backcourt until 13 seconds left if they wish: 40-9(1st timeout)-9(2nd timeout)-9(3rd timeout)=13. So Team B plays great defense for 27 seconds to keep Team A in the backcourt, with no payoff. Seems like a no-brainer to make Team A advance the ball a bit.sf2010 wrote:That's how I took it - meaning if you call a timeout after 7 seconds, still in the backcourt, you only have 3 seconds to get it over halfcourt as opposed to the count resetting to 10.

Re: The Upcoming 2015-16 Season!
Rothstein released his Top 25 earlier today, with no mention of us in the 25 or his 5 teams on the cusp. He seems to be a fan of us/Hurley, so I was a little surprised he didn't have us at least on the cusp. PC was also not mentioned on either list.

Re: The Upcoming 2015-16 Season!
I think we now have top 25 potential, but that's all it is until we prove it.
Remember, we have 6, and maybe 7, new players and they will have to be integrated into the system.
Better to not have the pressure of living up to that prediction just yet.
There could be a couple of bumps in the OOC road, especially if Iverson isn't eligible until late December.
Here's what it will take to get there by the start of A10 play:
WIN the Cancun tourney, and beat PC. Top 25 then, and only then.

Are those Heart Over Hype shirts standard issue by Adidas? I remember Nebraska wearing them last season and look at how that worked out. I think either way just to be safe they should be burned and we should find a new shirt.

I remember Bob Walsh's RIC team with jackets that read:
"Entitled to Nothing".
I thought that was great.
Jay had a sign during the Nebraska game that said,
"Hype Over Heart". Loved it.
