UCLA...lol. Colorado State sets a new record for highest RPI ranking left out of the tournament ever. 30. That's disgusting.

Re: NCAA Tournament - General Discussion
The best point made was the loss of eyeballs, exposure and awareness. Eventually that too will rear its head in recruiting, if it doesnt change. This season many pundits (not just ESPN) referenced teams like Villanova and players like Dunn as unheralded due to under exposure. When do you remember the Big East being called under-the-radar, and its players as lacking exposure. A league made as a media darling by Gavitt, signed a deal with the devil in Fox. It will take them a decade to attract an audience, if they ever can. Without a major sports league they are doomed to failure. Money cures a lot of ills, but I cant think execs at Fox or the Big East are all that happy thus far. Kids want to have a platform, if the Big East cant provide that it will eventually hurt them. Last I checked not one kid was going to receive a dime of that 500 million.

Dayton had better get it going, they are down 9 at the half and Silbert has 3 fouls. Not good.
If they lose, the committee will say they got it right about Dayton.
Not good for the A10 either of course.

Dayton now in serious danger of losing, down 7 with under 4 minutes left.
I thought that they would win this game. They still might, but time is running out.
PC is probably hoping they lose.

Not sure why, but #22 for Boise State is easy to hate.
Ok, Dayton. We see you. Up a point and shooting with 14 seconds to go.

Dayton's charmed NCAA life continues.
If they play like that against PC, they're toast.
A10's butt saved for now. 1-0.
More units for us. [Well a small portion of a unit]

Two points. I think you have to question why the Boise State player on a critical possession dribbles into the corner. Also, I don't agree with the announcers who thought the last shot was a foul - it was not. The Dayton defender clearly held his ground with raised hands which did not move forward, the BSU player simply bumped into him. Calling that a foul would have been a travesty.

When you do it once or twice it is a charmed life. Dayton is a classy well coached team that knows how to win. The fact they get to now play another game in their home state is a total joke being a low seed.

Dayton surely knows how to win the close ones, especially at home. They do it against good teams too.
That's the last step we need to take, to be able to join them.
Can they do it against PC? Must see TV.

I've always enjoyed listening to Gottlieb, who usually took his job seriously -- UP UNTIL THE OTHER NIGHT, AS PART OF THE THREE-MAN BOOTH!!!!!! He was ill-prepared, obnoxious, and rather than being an observer, was the poster-child for "Ted Mack's Amateur Hour Broadcaster of the Year."
Marty Glickman would have shat all over his grade-sheet.
He also did the same thing last night, turning into a personality rather than acting like a professional.

Re: NCAA Tournament - General Discussion
If you listened to Gottlieb, what he said was that situation almost always results in a foul on the defensive man even though it shouldn't be called. In other words, he agreed with the non-call but was surprised that it wasn't called.Obadiah wrote:Two points. BTW, I'll take Gottlieb over Raftery, Captain Obvious Howland and almost all the other color blabbermouths. In a three-man booth, both the color analysts are competing for air time.

Good for Dayton and the A-10. Would be nice to have the Flyers win a couple of games to prove their seeding was a huge error on the part of the NCAA.

Yeah, would had been a bad look to lose literally in your own building in a fairly even match-up otherwise. Now on to Columbus!

Re: NCAA Tournament - General Discussion
PC is a bad matchup for Dayton IMO. Their length at the rim will bother them, as will guys like Dunn digging on Pierre when he puts it on the floor. Key to stopping Dayton is containing Pollard and Pierre, and I can see them having problems with the PC front line. Also they have no answer for Dunn. my best guess is a 7-10 pt win by the Friars. Dayton looked very tired last night and if not for their home court likely loses that game against an average opponent.

NCAA Second Round
With the play-in games of March17 and 18 counting as the First Round, the Second Round has already begun today. In Pittsburgh, Northeastern gave Notre Dame a battle for a good part of first half, but Notre Dame is seeing some separation as they lead at the half, 31-27. Meanwhile in Louisville, Iowa State and UAB are tied at 18 with 7+ minutes left in the first half.

Re: NCAA Second Round
Notre Dame survives in a great opening game of the NCAA, 69-65. Northeastern had a shot to win when down two they intercepted a in-bounds pass, but could not get off a shot due to great ND defense which took the ball away with seconds left.
Then clutch FTs by ND salted the game away.. Northeastern had a great defense that deprived ND of their usually good three point shooting.

In other #14 vs. #3 match-ups, Iowa State leads UAB by four with 3+ minutes left and Baylor with a three point lead over Georgia State, 33-30 at the half. Great game stop start today's NCAA menu.

Yikes - #14 UAB upsets #3 Iowa State. And Notre Dame almost got upset, as they attempted to give the game a couple times to Northeastern, before finally putting it away.
