Re: A10 Tournament - General Discussion
VCU started a bit slow, but went on a 40-12 run (!) and they're up big at the half v. Davidson.
Go Rhody!

That VCU run was so impressive. They just took over and started dominating. Strength winning over finesse right now.

Re: A10 Tournament - General Discussion
My favorite non URI A-10 player is Mo Allie-Cox.
Love his game.
So, if we beat Dayton today, we face VCU, who
will be playing their 4th game in 4 days,
Glad Davidson got crushed. Another 2 1/2 hour
foul fest.

With just a tiny bit more, we could have beaten all of them.

Re: A10 Tournament - General Discussion
San Diego State is 336th in the country out of 351, they are dancing. Louisville is 281. Oh and VCU is 291 and .02% better than us on the season. Illinois is best in the country and they are heading to the NIT with us. Free throws are a part of the equation and are very easy to pick on, but they certainly do not tell the whole story.section(105) wrote:The free throws for next year gotta get fixed.....example VCU was like 8 for 8 down the stretch....

Re: A10 Tournament - General Discussion
As bad as our overall FT shooting was, it didn't directly cost us more than a couple games this season.
The Davidson game was the biggest one.
There were several other games that were closer than they should have been, due to our clanking them, but we still won those games.
We actually won a couple of games due to good FT shooting. The 1st GW game for one.
Turnovers were the biggest issue. We were consistency bad in that dept.
Shooting 3's was a close second.

Re: A10 Tournament - General Discussion
You can easily argue that FT shooting will end up keeping us out of the NCAA tournament. In the loss to VCU, we were 13-22 including a critical miss on a 1:1 front end that would have given us the lead with under a minute to play. Against St Joe's, we missed a front end of a 1:1 which would have extended our lead to 3 in the final minute, and then another missed free throw just before St Joes hit the game winning 3 (instead of tying the game and sending to overtime). And then we have the 16-33 disaster vs Davidson, which needs no explanation. I know FT shooting isnt the only reason we lost, but even if we win 2 of those games, we finish 15-3 with a likely #1 seed in the A10 tournament and I'm sure we'd be speculating on what our NCAA seed would be and not if we're hosting a first round NIT game.adam914 wrote:San Diego State is 336th in the country out of 351, they are dancing. Re: A10 Tournament - General Discussion
Yes, if you look at the entire season and base it only off those foul shooting numbers, then you can incorrectly argue that FT shooting will end up keeping us out of the NCAA tournament.

I have no idea what you're trying to say here... so I'll just assume you agree with me.adam914 wrote:Yes, if you look at the entire season and base it only off those foul shooting numbers, then you can incorrectly argue that FT shooting will end up keeping us out of the NCAA tournament.

Re: A10 Tournament - General Discussion
The A-10 Tournament Championship Game on CBS Sunday afternoon didn't do too badly with tv ratings. It had multiple more viewers than the prime-time Saturday night New Catholic Big East Tournament Championship Game on FS1. The FS1 network continues to really struggle in the ratings.

Re: A10 Tournament - General Discussion
Those ratings are pathetic across the board. FS1 is the worst by far yes.
Just reflects the times with TV viewership in general.
Of course, if they included all of the sports bars across the country....
