Providence College has designated the visit of URI as a premium game. The ticket price is $5.00 more than their normal game pricing. Other Friar premium home games include Villanova and Georgetown. Games such as UMass, St. John's, Creighton, Xavier, and Marquette are not designated as premium games with higher prices.
I will be at the Dunk up from ATL. I was in RI Tuesday and thought I was in a time warp looking at Buddy Cianci signs.
On the OT postings, I was at the Allman Brothers last show at the Beacon last week...what a show, played till after 1 am
I took the e ticket option and as far as I know they haven't even emailed them out. I was wondering how long to wait till I have to call them. Is anyone else in the same boat or did I possibly delete the e-mail thinking it was junk based on the sender.
I just saw a commercial on Channel 10 for the game. Cooley was saying, "Rhode Island vs. providence". "Your Big East Champs" I know we've had a tough few years, but still baffles me the level of annoyance some PC fans have. I am talking about the fans who didn't even go there and talk about URI being not only an inferior program, but institution.
The last two visits by the Rams to Providence have had a smaller number of Rhody fans than previous years due to weaker URI teams. I expect a much stronger and vocal Rhode Island contigent at the DDC in a few weeks.
Hopefully we will get an increased turnout this year at the Dunk, even from those that rarely venture north beyond the Towers....Alumni Association doing a pre-game at near by Blake's....

I agree, completely. Only unfortunate thing is that whether the game is at RC or The Dunk it will be on a weeknight. Both places know it will be a sellout regardless of what night it is. So, from their standpoint, they'd rather have a weeknight game with a guaranteed sellout.
I think we'd all rather party on a Saturday night.
What sections are people sitting in? Was looking at tix a few mins ago and they are already pretty limited, but would like to get into section amongst URI fans if possible...

Sec 111 is the spot. Myself, BPR, ATP, URI96, Dude, RhodyRudder, Iggy, and RhodySK are all in that section, mostly the last 3 rows.
Get as close to us as possible!
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.
Trying to think of some creative names for invading the Dunk.
Operation:
"Take Down Clown Town"
"Save the children"
"Friar Town Beat Down"
"Yo mama!"
Potential nicknames for Friar Fans:
"Friar Choir"
"Catholic Boy Toys"
"Choir Boys"
"No class take it in the..."
Edit:
As everyone knows, including you PC compadres that occasionally peruse this board, I do something like this (nicknames, slogans, phrases, etc...) every year in a tongue-in-cheek humorous fashion in an attempt to get us Rhody Fans all riled up and enthusiastic about the big game. Sallies...no need to get your panties in a bunch.

Careful,
You might cause the President of PC to
Take to the airwaves condemning negative cheering. Oh wait, that was YOUR president acting like a 3rd grader.
I am glad I got my tickets weeks ago at the DDC box office. I kind of figured this would be a hard ticket to get as game time neared. I expect this match-up to sell out well in advance of December 10th.
I've asked this question before, but does anyone know (or does anyone have the ability to find out) if there is going to be something organized for the students to have tickets up at the Dunk? or should I go on ticketmaster and try to buy mine now? it would be a shame if URI students wouldn't be able to make it up to the game.
I would hope they have buses and tickets for students. Wow I just had a memory of bouncing a basketball from URI to the Civic Center for a Umass game. Strange.
I have to admit I'm a bit concerned about what ticket sales are going to be like next year. Tickets my be hard to get and PC fans will flood the Ryan Center. We'll have a kid with the last name "Butts" playing for us. I'm concerned PC might get the wrong idea...
Thorr may want to set aside money for an extra security detail for Leroy.

Dude PC fans will never flood the Ryan Center especially in a year where Rhody is expected to be very good. Next year may have the least PC fans of any previous game at the Ruan Center.
If both URI and pc continue their upward trends I foresee a future where season ticket holders take up the majority of seats in each arena thereby leaving fewer and fewer seats to be sold to the general public shutting out fans of the visiting school from attending.....

Although I will never go to the game when it is in the Dunk.......

It wouldn't be an issue if PC had paid and built an on campus arena with a smaller seating capacity better suited for the college game.
In many respects URI supporters deserve a large number of the seats at the DDC since they are more likely to be Rhode Islanders that pay taxes which helped purchase and renovate the arena, make its bond payments, and subsidize its annual operating losses.

Lol, and a large number of the GA went to PC/support PC and swindle our tax dollars for things such as said renovations.

I think you missed the gutter humor. I was joking. I don't actually think PC fans will be flooding the Ryan Center. "Think church scandal, Catholic Friar, and kid with the last name Butts...and I think you'll get it."

Oh. And. BTW, good old channel 10 sports highlighted their 11pm sports show with PC vs. Yale highlights...Proceeded to say, "URI also played tonight." Also??? Wow.

I'm guessing they probably just re-ran the 6 p.m. show for the most part, since a lot of the stations do that for the Friday 11 p.m. show, which has to be the lowest rated of the week. (Maybe Saturday is worse.) However, weird that they didn't at least run a scoreboard of some sort.
EDIT: Oh wait, Yale vs. PC was at 6... So nevermind. Yeah, that's especially odd then.

I thought it was at 4pm

Well Dimmy Dondero or whatever his name is, is a Bryant guy,
and he's no better on Ch 12.
I watch 12 because of Shannon Hegy, anyway, not their sports.
They have Yani there, who does the Hurley show, and still we
get second mention.
90% of basketball fans in this state are PC fans, from the brainwashing the media has done starting about 50 years ago and continuing today. It's never going to change.
I don't know about 90% but there is no doubt that in the northern part of the state there are more PC fans, and that only the northern part of the state is relevant to the news directors at local media outlets.

Yes, the idiot in the comments in Bill Reynolds' column
is our old pal, Joe Adumbowitz, who is an ardent hater.
He's so ridiculous and over the top, that even John Rooke told him to get lost on Golocal.
He some clown from MA, and his FB page is all PC and his hatred for UConn
and UConn women, and URI, is truly psychotic.
No friends or family on his page, just mindless rants about who he hates.
