Anyways, this is shockingly similar to the other site. I don't see any downside to moving here if their server is more stable, unless there is a cost associated with the move and it is prohibitive.

Huh. I tried the embed code and it didn't work. Didn't think to try putting the URL in. That is a major plus.

Yeah, I need to read up on some of these cool new phpBB3 features, but yeah, more and more so the system figures out what you're trying to do without the BBcode stuff.

Pretty standard format with all the right tools. I've used forums on this platform for other interests and have never experienced the type of technical difficulties that crop up on forumer.

Right... I think Forumer's servers are just not getting the attention they need, and their support system doesn't raise the issues to those who might be able to fix it.

Or maybe it's an issue where, for example, they have run out of disk space for the cache files and they just don't feel like spending another dollar on their equipment. So they just let the servers languish.

I have registered for this board and the AZ one, but will go with this one if that is the prevalent feeling. I hope we can decide on where to move soon because the prediction contest is around the corner and some forum stability is needed to put that together.

Agreed, OB. I was hoping to give the poll at least 24 hours or more, but it does seem like this one seems to be prevailing at this time.

While yesterday Forumer seemed to behave, today it's back to it's frustrating slowness and session issues. I'm SO ready to move on.

Yep, depending on what kind of traffic we get here, anywhere between $10-20 a month. So if just a few people help to cover that we're solid!

Yeah, and I can adjust the monthly fee month-to-month based on the seasonality of our traffic. So that also keeps costs down.

We have had many friends on the present board generously offer to help get this project rolling. I think it's time to make the call and get this migration done.

You guys have been doing the work; least we can do is help defray the cost. It's not that much. $10 is the same as three coffees nowdays.

No, but the benefit is that I can change the monthly rate each month to match our actual usage, which is very reasonable.

We pay for what we use.

Near top of page, go to User Control Panel. Then on left side, go to Profile, Then account settings.

I am trying to load an avatar but most of the pictures are 59 KiB and our limit is 39 KiB. Is there anyway to reduce a picture's KiB to 39 or lower? (sorry my kids are not available to do this for me!!)

You can try picresize.com to adjust them for free. I'd rather not increase the size limit if everyone plans on using the avatar feature. It would slow down the load time potentially or crash browsers on crappy phones like mine.
