If you were betting, you would probably choose PC here but I think all three are a lot closer than not. How they finish 2014 recruiting, some lucky breaks health wise, etc will probably move the needle, too. Cotton and Batts are gone, right? Let's not forget that the tournament committee said PC wasn't in the field until they won the BE tourney.rodfromcranston wrote:If he wanted to go to an NCAA, PC would have clearly been the choice.
There are some other factors at play here.

Re: '14 MA SG Jared Terrell (Offer)
It's also about matchups. If you were up against a team that was bigger but without a lot of on ball pressure, you could run JT, EC, and Hassan one through three. Or you run the three guard offense to exploit another matchup. That's what good teams do. They have talent all through their rotation. DH has a second crack at a guy who would change the program. Hope he nails it. And that is before we talk about what it means to get a top 75 guy from the NE prep/AAU scene. Lots at stake.rodfromcranston wrote:Even though they play the same position, EC and JT are
very different type of players.
EC is smoother, and has a better shot.
Terrell is bullish, and loves contact with his drives to the hoop.
JT has an NBA body already.
Having both plus Garrett on the floor at the same time would be
similar to when Mobley, Wheeler and Murphy would be on the floor together,
and drive opponents crazy.
When they'd stretch the defenses, they'd dump it down low to ARD and Luther.
These guys could have a ball doing the same with Hassan, Gil, Hare, Watson or whoever
is wandering around the hoop.
HARD TO GUARD! It works.

Re: '14 MA SG Jared Terrell (Offer)
PC is bringing in one of the top recruiting classes in the nation.
Three of the 4 members of Providence’s committed Class of 2014 are in the final top 90 with the lone member not in the top 100 being recent PG commit, Kyron Cartwright.
Plus they have a superb coach in Ed Cooley.

Cooley is great but those guys are still frosh. Kentucky lost to Robert Morris last year in the NIT playing a ton of frosh (obviously, they have done pretty well other years, too) and the PC recruiting pipeline really has been more fool's gold than real gold. That said, I'd take their class in a second! I just don't think they are leaps and bounds ahead of URI and BC.

Hurley gets his chance; that's all we could ask for. Hopefully a decision this week.

Shorts weather down here in South County. Mostly sunny and I'm sure the campus is buzzing right before finals and graduation.

Welp, I guess we weren't out. Not going to use this as an opportunity to lecture, but you can't always take everything you read in recruiting at face value - even when the source is as good as Zags. Lots can change, and lots of misdirection goes on.
Hope everything goes well today. Would be a huge, HUGE thing for our program if we could somehow get him to pop for us.

There's been confusion because the AAU coach and the prep coach both have been talking to reporters. Turns out the Brewster coach was out of the loop so anyone listening to him was sometimes wrong.

Great news! Gorgeous day, let's hope he enjoys his walk around Kingston! I'm sure he'll see the new student-athlete center which has seen a lot of work since he last visited. So thrilled that he made it to his unofficial here and didn't commit to BC while on campus there. Would be INCREDIBLE to get some good news in the next few days

I think the SADC could show our improvement. I think it is good that we got the one of last shots at him and we were in his final two last time.

It was almost a universal belief on this board that expectations would be tempered for this upcoming year because of how our inflated hopes for this past season were crushed. If we get Terrell, we can all look forward to mass hysteria again, and I couldn't be more excited!

URI is an absolutely beautiful place on May.
Boston is also a great city to go to College in.
So here is URI:
Absolutely gorgeous, bucolic campus.
- Beautiful Ryan Center.
- Team on the rise.
- 2 Guys make the A10 All Freshman Team, one makes Freshman of the Year and there is talk of both being possible future Professional Players (from little old Rhody)
- Good relationship with the URI Coaching Staff from his previous recruiting episode
- Not a relationship with Jim Christian - jsut started with that
- Solid relationship with Preston Murphy but Preston is the 2nd assistant at BC
- URI Staff really wants Terrell
- Best news I have heard is that PC is now out
- Increased interest by Mann in URI
- Jordan Hare returning
There is a lot to like about this URI Program right now - on the upswing
I hope Terrell picks URI today or tomorrow.

And they are also working on the campus today to make the quad and surrounding areas look better. Now if they could pave the roads then it would be great.

If the visit goes well, maybe he'll decide today...
If this really is an unofficial visit...it's his 2nd unofficial an 3rd overall visit to the school. More than any school I know that he visited. Something must be there

I doubt they make the decision based on weather, but it is a subconscious factor. I think it was nice earlier, so at least he's seen that. I don't ever remember being anywhere while it was raining and feeling like I really appreciated the beauty of the place. Haha. Glad there was some sun earlier. Can't hurt.
