Hurley just gronk spiked his clipboard on the court at the end of the half. Don't think he was too happy with that performance... Can't blame him

Gil had to come out with 2 fouls early

Gil was never REALLY in the game. Happens unfortunately quite a bit.

Are we seeing another Duquesne performance tonight?

How they respond to "THE SPIKE", subsequent tongue-lashing, and play during the second half determine if URI plays more than one game in Brooklyn. Continue the winning streak or die. Period.

Seems like Fordham set a lot of borderline illegal picks up at the top of the key. And Gil is playing into their scheme.

The foul on X was almost of the intentional kind, no play on the ball, clear undercut.

What more can you say about EC and Hassan. Leading the team at the end of their freshman year when most freshman hit the wall. So glad that they get to display their talent on a national stage next year at the Old Spice Classic.

Amusing - If you're using ESPN Gamecast, the twitter feed keeps refreshing with news about the Rams... The St. Louis Rams, who released Courtland Finnegan today, apparently.

X had a stretch where he hit 6 shots in a row. Came back from a poor first half performance to finish his career in style, well done!

TJ filled the stat sheet with arguably his best game as a Ram. Hassan is just an 18 year old beast, 2nd double double in a row and 4th of the year. EC is the best we have seen here since Lamar, if he ever finished that double behind the back move it would have been crazy!

We will not beat good teams with a performance like that from Gil. We need the Big 3 to carry the load and then Hassan and TJ to play their roles, but if that all clicked in at once we could go on a run.

Now as a student, if you are into basketball, how can you not want to come to games simply to watch EC and Hassan...potential NBA players in the making. Exciting times ahead....Go Rhody!!!

Raised their fg % in the 2nd half to end the game with good numbers from the field:

25-50 fg .500
7-17 3fg .412

The foul shooting was however absolutely atrocious at 20-36 for .556.

Buchanan was 5-6 from the field and had 14 points.

A win is a win but Gil's no show (0 pts 3to and 5pf) and the FT shooting was troublesome.

I agree. His [Gil's] head was NOT in the game at all.

The FT shooting? They've got 8 months to work on it. It was truly horrible, except for EC's.

I think this win guaranteed that URI will not be in the play in game. The standings right now are:

Rhode Island 5-11 (done)
Duquense 4-11 (@GMU)
GMU 3-11 (@LaSalle, DUQ)
Fordham 2-13 (GW)

If Duquesne wins at GMU, the 5-11 Dukes would win 10th place with their tiebreaker over URI. Rhody would be the 11 seed. If GMU wins out, they would finish at 5-11 but lose the tiebreaker for 10th place to URI.

Good second half, good way to finish off the regular season.
Feeling gratitude that this team does not give up.
Thank you fella's for battling to the end.
Again can't thank Munford enough!! I won't ever forget the impact he's had for Rhody and how he has turned this ship around and set a course for future successes.

Good win, overcame adversity and Fordham clear strategy of "hackaram".

Gil is playing himself into an off the bench role next season if he can't lose the silly fouls, 4 of the fouls tonight were useless. The good news is the team picked him up with a very balanced scoring attack. I thought the team was extremely well coached tonight as well.

We got another good look tonight at what Martin and Matthews will be and the future is very bright. This alum for one thinks this group has come a long way. I only asked that we become a dangerous team.

Check.

Nice win. You can really see things coming together for the future. The team is playing with confidence and EC and Hassan are growing into their roles as premier A10 players.

I think URI can win at least one round in the A10's. Rhody is rolling, winners of 3 of 4 with only a 3 point loss at UMass.

I had higher expectations at the start of the season but 14-17 (5-11) regular season record is definitely progress and you can see the potential for the future.

I hate to admit it but that's pretty much the only reason I made such an effort to get to these last few games. Those two are simply fun to watch. Loved seeing X step up in the 2nd half and finish his regular season career on a high note. Great 2nd half adjustments tonight. Lets raise some hell in Brooklyn next week!

Yes the final record isn't what we hoped for at the start of the season, but with all the bizarre happenings with our personnel, a great finish.

This team improved leaps and bounds over the last month of the season.

How many times have we been able to say THAT since the year 2000?

I too think we have a great shot to win a game or two in NY, depending on who we play. Even if we don't, we can see the future, and it's bright, especially with the addition of Garrett. A couple more pieces brought on board, and who knows what could happen?

Great second half from everybody, even Gil helped after an awful night for him. Good to see the seniors got some PT although they could have got more. X clutch shots, EC crazy moves, Hassan CRAZY dunks and BLOCKS. I Love this team now. Lets kick butt in BROOKLYN.

Valuable information, no?

They won. Cool.

Does this team lead the nation in initials as names? EC, TJ, AJ

I saw zero minutes of this game- checked the score on my phone throughout the first half and then nothing until a few minutes ago, so I'll go ahead and take credit for this win.

Still love ya, Gil!

Hope we play Richmond, that most likely be a win and then who knows? Gil's play is troublesome, to survive and advance, he's gotta stop the dumb fouls, give us some sustained minutes, and make those in close shots that are a challenge for him.... Why is that?

As a student I missed one home game (So MISS) but went no matter our record to every other game. I see NO reason why students would miss out on tonight EXCEPT for exams. Ignorance has taken over Kingston and down the line, but next season should help that A LOT. That was my last rhody game as a student which is sad, but I'm excited to call myself an alum and join the sideline sections next season.

Ending this season on an upswing, with the potential of EC and Hassan, the addition of Garrett and hopefully others, will really help kick start next season.

This time, the optimism should be sustained [knock on wood].

Look for a big jump to a potential 20 win team next season. There, I said it.

The pieces are finally [almost anyway] in place.

i have to laugh at EC and X's stat lines tonight

EC: 21 pts, 7 rebs, 4 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk
X: 21 pts, 7 rebs, 4 ast, 0 stl, 2 blk

also didn't realize while at the game that TJ almost had a triple double (14 pts, 11 rebs, 7 ast)

I hope TJ gets his quality playing time next year. He deserves it.

A lot might depend on whether or not we get a SG/wing on the recruiting trail.

Losing X, is a BIG loss. Going to be tough to replace what he brought to this team.

Garrett's going to score. But he'll be a frosh.

E C should have cemented R O Y honors tonight if Severe is his closest competitor. He was a complete no show.. Hit one three pointer and that's it.. As a matter of fact being the homer that I am I will go out on the limb (not really) and say Martin deserves some love for that award .. He is becoming a beast on the boards.. The shot blocking is terrific and his offense improves every game.. Don't think he committed any fouls tonight.. Did hold my breath late in the game when he fell awkwardly and grabbed his knee.. Close call...

Just got back from Kingston.
Boy was that fun. At least the second half.
So nice to see Xavier Munford go out in style. 7-14, 4-7 from 3.
When he has it going, it makes us a different team.
I'm so happy for him, especially after getting so much flack from our
own board here. Bet you people like him just fine, now. Right?
Combined with EC, they are a deadly backcourt.
Just love Hassan Martin. 6 blocks, 12 rebounds and 13 points.
TJ played his best game in a Ram uniform, with 14-11-7.
The bad......Gil Biruta. One of the worst games by anyone in memory,
Lots of missed layups, and his usual 3 point miss. A foul 30 feet from the basket,
along with a couple of silly ones.
On a side note, Butler never saw a second of play.
I think Jon Severe was nursing a leg injury, because he was dragging his leg during the game.
Our free throws. Could have been a real blowout, except for SIXTEEN missed free throws!
Still, overall, a nice win and a stellar night for four of our five starters.
On to Brooklyn! Hope we get Richmond.

From all accounts, Garrett is a good FT shooter. So is EC.

They will take a lot of FT's in their careers before they're done.

Hassan has gotten better at them. Gil is streaky. I think they will be OK.

The rest? Needs work, to put it mildly.

Had to be TJ's best game as a Ram. He hit that three very early in the game and played with great confidence throughout after that. EC is so much fun to watch. My favorite play of the game was when he drove the lane and made a beautiful dish to Hassan for another monster dunk. I thought Hassan had close to 10 blocks tonight because he just got a fingertip on a couple of them which the official scorer probably couldn't see. X had a tough first half, usually tough for the seniors to get it going on senior night. But he was huge in the second half with his threes helping us to pull away. Jarelle had a couple of nice drives to the hoop. I'd still like to see him go up stronger though. Gil had a nightmare, a couple of silly fouls, no need to foul 30 feet from the basket. We need him on the court in the tourney. Jarvis Garrett there again, all decked out in Rhody gear. He sat on the bench with Earl Watson when the team was in pregame warmup. Then during layup drills, they both went to halfcourt with the team. Jarvis already seems to be part of the team. There was also another kid sitting with Jarvis. I was wondering if he was a recruit too. More students tonight. The ones in the 100 sections were active, the ones in the 200 sections didn't seem to care. But a good night at the RC and a nice ending to X's last home game. BTW, I'm kind of glad we didn't get Severe. He takes some atrocious shots.

absolutely, EC should be ROY, the others will be Jenkins (GMU), Bembry (SJU), Severe (FU), and Martin (URI)

Great game.

The team seemed tensed up in the first half, missed several bunnies and were also off beyond the arc. And those FT's ! Fordham hit a number of threes in the first half and that combined with the good Rams tentativeness gave them the 2 point lead, otherwise URI would have had close to a double digit lead. Hurley's supportive halftime talk helped to settle the Rams down, and they did in the second half what should have happened in the first.

Hurley did a great job of coaching in this game. He clearly out coached Pecora.

Just read that Martin almost didn't play tonight because of a pre-game knee injury. Double double anyway, he doesn't care.

Oh yeah, I got to my seat at 6:10. When I got there the team was warming up, but Hassan was sitting on the bench with his head down. Tirone cam over to talk to him, and seconds later, Hassan went to the locker room and didn't return 'til the team came out around 6:45. I don't know if something was hurting or if he felt sick. Anyway, if he was, he surely didn't show it during the game. I love when the guards drive the lane now. I know Hassan is there waiting for them.
