Here is the summary of all the bets placed in the 2012-13 URI Top Scorer contest. out of a 12 player roster, the bets focused on five players with the bulk of the predictions placed on Xavier Munford and Nikola Malesevic.
I have organized all entries into clusters based on selected Top Scorer and then sequenced the predicted average points per game, PPG, within each cluster from the highest bet to the lowest.

I was thinking hte same thing. If someone gets hurt and out for the season (ie broken hand, etc......) and only plays 10 games then they probably shouldn't count. My guess is a player should play 75% of the season to have his average count.
Easy question to answer. The award is based on the 29 games of the regular season and a player to be eligible must play in a minimum of 22 games. That gives each player a spare of 7 games to cover injuries, illness, and penalties.
One of the nice features of a Top Scorer Contest is that at any time in the season you can check to see which poster is in the lead. So in that spirit, after each five or 6 games I will post URI's top scorers and who is leading in the contest.
The three top URI scorers are:
Xavier Munford - 17.00 ppg
Nikola Malesevic - 15.60 ppg
Andre Malone - 11.16
With about a fifth of the season gone, Munford is the leading scorer and SDRam with a prediction of 16.83 is closest to Munford's actual ppg of 17.00.

With another great performance by Xavier Munford with 24 points against George Mason, his seasonal average to date moves to 18.00 ppg. rhodylaw now becomes the current leader in the contest. Unless Malone or Nik spring to life soon, the top scorer crown looks like Munford's to win and the contest winner will be a battle among the top 5 or 6 posters picking X.
X is definitely turning into the star of the team. He's quick off the dribble and can get streaky hot from the outside. I wish he were better at the line, though.

Xavier Munford scored 17 points in the win over Georgia State and his scoring average is now 17.18 ppg which keeps NY2Rhody in the lead to win contest.

I actually am impressed with Andre's play lately.....he is one of the guys I most enjoy watching play....

Malone's jumper just isn't consistent enough for him to be a high scorer most nights. It's a shame, because he has good size for a guard / wing, and most of the shots he takes are open looks, or that little fade from the baseline.
While Nik and Malone (and to a lesser extent Powell) can have good nights, X is the only consistent scorer on this team. Thank God Hurley teaches defense or else we'd be a complete disaster.

Statistically Malone is the second best shooter on the team but he's fourth in shots taken. I'd like to see him shoot more.

I think Malesevic is what he is at this point. On a better team, he'd probably be a 20-minute player, and on the nights he's hot, you ride him for 30+. But on this team, he's going to play 35 minutes unless he's in foul trouble or hurt, since the Rams don't really have better options for the 4.
dam need him sto stay around 17 for rest of year. he is getting too good and other options on the team are disappearing

I think this contest has just become what the final average will be as I see no chance for any other player to compete with X.....assuming good health all around....
