Maybe that's the problem.
Hurley is recruiting football players for the basketball program.
I'll get excited when they actually start winning.

We have extended several offers in the new Jersey area with in the past couple of days. Many of them at offensive line. With the addition of Bill Bleil our offense should be more productive. I talked to some Iowa State fans and they said he would work wonders at fcs level.

They have seven QB's on their roster, we have three. With the addition of Harold Cooper at Running Back who committed within the past week I am excited to see what happens. I would love for a WR with speed to come in this class as well.

This is pretty cool. NSD is HUGE at almost every other FBS / FCS school in the country. Looks like they're trying to generate some buzz here as well.

Any word on who the remaining coaches will be? Also, is there any word Mack Lowrie is transferring to Rhody? There was alot of buzz early/mid Jan but nothing since. Also, Rambone, did your contact give any indication if lights/turf will be for this season or down the road? Really hoping these changes are the shots in the arm the program needs to get the ship righted.

Re: Rhody Football Recruting
Answered my own question.
Head Coach- Jim Fleming
Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line-Bill Bleil
Wide Receivers- Ari Confesor
Defensive Line- Joe Coniglio
Linebackers- Matt Dawson
Tight Ends Will Fleming
Defensive Assistant-Troy Gilmer
Quarterbacks/Recruiting Coordinator- Jim Miceli (former head coach a Bryant)
Quality Control-Donnie Smith
Director, Football Operations- Mitch Stone
Offensive & Defensive Meeting Room- ???
Still would love to know when lights and turf are going in. That would be huge.

05 said he heard buzz that a QB was coming here from BC. If that's the case, it makes sense that it would be Lowrie. But other than that, there's no other word. Seems like just rumor at this point.GansettRam74 wrote:Also, is there any word Mack Lowrie is transferring to Rhody?

Re: Rhody Football Recruting
Ive said before that Trainers staff was weak. This looks much better: a lot of guys with FBS experience. Fleming is well connected and reached out to coaches he knew. Gilmer played for him at Akron. He coached with Miceli at Akron and Coniglio at Kent St. And of course he has a history with Bleil

Re: Rhody Football Recruting
Having this staff gives us a leg up on recruiting. Because they can talk to players from other states as well as lower level FBS players. We have offered JC Dunston Payne yesterday.
The lights and turf will probably be first then new stands or a video board after.

Re: Rhody Football Recruting
Good question. Someone has said not specifically, but the word that lights and field turf are coming soon, must have been discussed for sure.
Hopefully a general timetable has been set for other improvements also, but that most likely is going to depend on revenue increases. Due to winning games, of course.

Holy Spirit (NJ) QB/LB T.J. Anderson. Will play LB or DE. Bench presses 405 pounds and runs the 40 in 4.6 seconds. Had interest from Villanova and Delaware.

Shaping up to be the best recruiting class in years, and with what looks like a huge upgrade in the coaching staff.
Rome wasn't built in a day, but maybe in another year or two, it'll all start to pay off.

This Coaching Staff is thinking next year - not a long term improvement plan.
Transfers from BCS Schools can play immediately - huge advantage over Basketball where guys have to sit out a year, JUCOs, High School Players - expect URI to turn this around very quickly.

True, Ramster. Plus, transfers from BCS schools have the experience already, they aren't freshmen projects like a lot of our previous recruits were.
Start winning right away, attract better recruits going forward.
Start winning, more money comes in, get those facility upgrades off the drawing board to reality sooner.
