Teammate of Tyrese Martin I assume. To be able to have the top recruits from ‘18 help recruit teammates makes so much sense.
Dana was teammates with Massoud at MacDuffie. He was also AAU teammates with a few other targets.

Supposedly this kid is visiting next month, he can play would be a great backup option to Anthony Walker.

This game from last year just keeps adding recruits. This is the Tyrese Martin vs Cam Reddish game.
For Maaanutten #14 is Long and #4 is Diawara. For Westtown #12 is Jalen Gaffney who is being recruited by UCONN, Florida, Xavier, Clemson & St Johns.

I guess if we can land Bishop getting McLeod or Diawara will work( obviously want Walker the most). I’m not excited about Diawara as too many of these big guys come in and are too slow and lack athleticism to compete at this level. I don’t think it would be the worst thing in the world that if we unfortunately miss on Walker, but get Bishop to hold onto the scholarship and maybe have it available for a transfer in the middle of the season or getting on another recruit late for 2019 class whose plans fell through with a bigger program.

I don’t think that was ever made public. The school can’t announce a visit. I think Rhody Fan tweeted it from his source. Diawara hasn’t communicated it to anyone or put it on social media.

It's been pushed to October

There's only so many weekends in September. Nothing more than that

Our priorities are the 4 September visits. October visits appear to be the fall backs.

You might see Long and Diawara on the same weekend since they were teammates last year. Maybe they will be in Kingston the weekend of Rhody Madness.

The team is off this weekend, so no surprise or unannounced visits popping up.

Haven’t really seen his name come up with anyone.

There is only a small amount of video on him, but he really only looks 6'7" or maybe 6'8".
Again, not that height is everything, but maybe that drives some folks away?

He kind of reminds me of Cyril. I would think he'd be an option for us.

Also a teammate of Martin and Long last year. I am guessing Cox saw him a lot last year in his recruitment of Martin and Long. The full game video of Tyrese against Cam Reddish is below. Diawara is #4. He looks big to me. They announce him at 6’10”. I would guess 6’9” by seeing him next to the Westtown Center and Reddish.

I thought you said in the somerville string the team is only recruiting McLeod for the '19 class. Assumed both parties had backed off of each other.

That was the case. Originally I was told Diawara was scheduled to visit in Oct. Oct weekends are over. Recruiting is fluid. Just wondering if they will pick back up on Diawara if McLeod doesn’t commit.

They should definitely have room for another scholarship next year.

I watched Big Mo today against Woodstock Academy. He doesn’t start for Massanutten. He is not currently a D1 player in my opinion. He is a big body that is learning basketball.

If he's 6-10 some D1 program will take him

IMHO, this is the type of kid you have on the 12th or 13th schollie to see what kind of player they can become.
Of course, you have to be able to make tough decisions if it is not working, but you have to try to get depth at PF somehow.

Any thought on why we offered this student athlete?

Who made the call on that?

(not doubting your assessment, thx!)

For next year Rhody has 2 Soph at PF in Harris and Walker.
They don’t currently have an open scholarship.
If a scholarship opens they need to go after a Post Grad SG.
