New England Tech in 2012 purchased the building that was being constructed to be the corporate offices of Brooks Pharmacy after the chain got bought out by Rite Aid. Construction was modified to convert the structure to academic use. A sizeable piece of adjacent land along Division Street near the intersection with Route 2 was also purchased (much of it was the old Rocky Hill Fairgrounds site). The long term plan of the school is to create a full fledged campus with academics, housing, and athletics. This is all a part of elevating the reputation and profile of the school.
New England Institute of Technology's first residence hall opens in the fall of 2017. The four-story, 400-bed facility will be located at NEIT’s East Greenwich campus and will offer single and double occupancy traditional rooms and semi-suites. The residence hall will also include student lounges, study rooms, a game room, a lounge with a fireplace and multi-purpose common spaces. A campus green will also be incorporated into this initial phase of construction

Does NEIT teach how to become a plumber or electrician? You can't fine these tradesmen any more.

Impressive, and about time. Nice to see another academic campus in this state.

Based on your posts here and on the other thread regarding the new engineering complex at URI, I will assume your were an ENG major. If NEIT continues to raise its academic profile and accomplishes what they want with a viable residential campus in 10-20 years, they may one day compete with URI for more students. In a lot of their literature, they use my alma mater (Worcester Polytechnic Institute-WPI) as a model of what they would like to eventually pattern themselves on.

I actually majored in Landscape Architecure and Planning, but, often work with Civil, Electrical, and structural Engineers. I see your point though, they might also compete with Roger Williams.RF1 wrote:Rhodymob05 wrote:Impressive, and about time. Nice to see another academic campus in this state.
