Will be missed. My thoughts are with his family and those who were close to him.

A sad lesson to us all to take care of ourselves. What a basketball mind he was. Read a great article on him last year in the NY Times I believe. Couldn't find it with all the stories on his death.

Very big loss for the A-10 and the sport of basketball as we know it.
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

Really too bad. Someone posted this article in the old forum when it was announced he was not going to be able to coach this season. Was instantly reminded of it when I heard the news today.

Majerus was a bright and eccentric man, a guy man who lived in hotels. I wonder if Deadspin will rerun its scathing article on him again. That was ugly.
He was a great coach who seldom had top tier talent but worked wonders with what he had. He revitalized a sleepy Saint Louis program and turned it into a winner. He made the post-season with every program he coached.

You wonder how marketable St. Louis will be to the Catholic schools who want to poach more teams from the A-10 to big east CYO now that Majerus is deceased.....their only real success came last year under Majerus....they were not a power program like Dayton and Xavier which survived coaching changes...

St Louis is well positioned for future success with a beautiful brand new 10,000 seat on campus arena, location in a major metro area, and willingness to pay 1 million or more for a top notch coach.

Very true, RF1, St. Louis U. is a great institution, a much more impressive school in all respects than say PC.

PC beat us in basketball and they only had 5 players.....I would let this sleeping dog lie....the University of Missouri is probably more highly thought of academically than URI.
