For those of us who aren't hip to the latest insider lingo, the words "increased their lead" work quite well.

Sportscaster and writers find a word or phrase that gets
driven into the ground.
"Volume shooter", is the phrase of the day, now.
"Double move", is big in football. No clue what that is.
I still like Chris's work very much. He's not a house man, but
isn't nasty, either.
Kind of what "journalism" should be.

Double move in football is a WR running a route like a post corner; where he starts to run a post route; and then cut back to the outside.

Ah! Sometimes football people try to make it seem like
brain surgery.
Then you listen to some of them talk and you know it can't
possibly be as complicated as they make it seem.
Case in point is Gresh, who tries to make it seem like he's Einstein
writing out the Theory of Relativity.
Instead, he was a backup lineman at URI.
